Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

So how many hours should I have to play before it gets fun?

Day off today. Literally, all day, just tryna have one fun match. One. Nope. Can't have one. So my question stands.

Fun is subjective. We can't really define it for you. Some people have a total blast playing dbd. Others despise it as if it was the plague. It's really up to you to determine if you find it fun or not.

For me, I don't really find playing the majority of the killers fun, and survivor tends to be a bit too easy. I find my happy medium by maining The Ghost Face killer (p100), since it let's me play a fun iconic character that i love (yes I know it's technically a "completely different character!", but I digress). If it wasn't for ole ghostie, I would have probably stopped playing the game a long time ago. Still, I do rather enjoy playing as a solo queue survivor, because I like subverting expectations and surprise other survivors with a solo queue who's pro-teamwork.

I have fun by making niche or meh perks work on specific killers and addons. I don’t have much fun running 4 slowdown perks.

It helps if you don’t expect to win every single match. I’m not saying that you are one of these people, but there are an awful lot of complainers on this forum that seem to feel like they can’t have fun unless they’re winning 90%+ of their matches.

    Ditto, same for playing survivor.

I refuse to take exhaustion perks (except Head On or Smash Hit), and I don't allow myself iri add-ons on items (and often don't even take an item).

Is fun trying to come up with builds and learning all the strange little quirks and intricate details of the game for me...

But if your goal is win hard and you play hardcore every game, this game gets old pretty quickly in my opinion.

Like I look at a 5 gen left with max slowdown as a max slugging/tunneling Blight, or a 4 man escape with 2 hooks on a hardcore SWF with Commodius+BNPs and Medkits with syringes and full meta builds, and can't help but laugh when those players act like they're the hot #########... game would get real boring real fast running that for me 😅

I know what that feels like. Some days you go in with the intention of just having a bit of fun and it absolutely doesn't work out for you.

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do other than just stop playing for the day. You get salty after a while and that makes everything worse.

I haven't played in going on 3 weeks now, the game as it currently sits is a miserable experience for people like me (Solo queue survivor). I love Dead by daylight but i just can't mentally do it anymore, until i notice some killer nerfs or kill rate reduction changes i think my time in the fog is over.

The old "fun" debate... I don't find survivor fun in general (I don't like the gameplay of sitting on gens or going in circles all match) but when I do survivor I usually make the best of it by going into the match thinking "I'm not going to escape, my solo team mates will probably be doing challenges and will leave me for dead if need be so I will do what I need to do and hope for the best"

The only way I find killer fun is to go anti looping killers like PH or stealth killers like Myers so I don't have to go through the boring loops chasing someone.

Awhile back I started using the "did you have fun?" rating that would appear after each match. If I had 3 matches, either back to back or in short period, where I gave it a did not have fun rating I would close DBD and go play/do something else. If you're not having fun you shouldn't stick around hoping it'll change, you're better off doing something else that you will enjoy.

If you're talking about in one sitting, just get lucky with the matchmaking. If there's too many sweaty opponents, just play something else. That's what I do on my bad nights.

If you're talking about overall playtime, I've got over 4500 hours, and it's hard to have fun.

    Ikr?

I can only agree with that. If you're having fun, then play, and if you're not, then don't. It's quite simple

TBH, even in SoloQ i'm getting fun matches these days. The thing is just how you look at the game: if i go to escape/kill every match, probably i will have a bad time. If i go for having a good time in the match - even if i doesn't result in a win - probably i will have some fun.

My current objective in SoloQ is to run a Autodidatic + Solidarity build and get the most of value from it.
