I DO NOT LIKE THE ONI CHANGES
Despite only picking up DBD in late 2022, i immediately fell in love with fast paced killers like Blight, Billy and… Oni. They just makes me feel so excited, and unstoppable…. Fast forward to today, where it had been over a year since both Blight and Billy received changes I didn't like( I'd been maining Oni exclusively since), and my motivations to playing are now gone, following the Oni changes.
Oni's turning rate is now capped when one is performing an attack while dashing. What results is that you can no longer instantly changes your direction, and instead, only "curve" around when turning. To put in an analogy, Oni was previously able to turn like a dragonfly, allowing the player to take full control of the momentum in a turn and feel incredible doing so(due to the intense muscle memory and skill required). Now, he feel likes a big aircraft, having to "slowly" curve in a specific path to do anything. In practice, you are now wayyy more likely to hit a wall while trying to attack, whenever survivors makes a sharp turn, because you simply cannot turning fast enough. It makes missed hits WAY more infuriating.
Now to address the elephant in the room, the 180 change. Perhaps the ONE thing that kept me playing nowadays, is the satisfaction of landing what is known as a 180 flick. I sometimes even throw a game to attempt a 180 flick, knowing that the feeling of landing one is better than winning. Now yes… the changes allows controller players to also able to 180, but this "new 180" is NOWHERE like the 180 everyone knew and love. In order to "180" now, one requires huge amount of space, due to the aforementioned flick change, so that a 180, might as well renamed to U-turn, because you land way further away from where you wanted to be at. Even if we manage to still hit one, it will not feel the same. Being able to do things that most people can't, is so fun.
Oni is a hard killer, to play and to learn. I have the up-most respect for Oni players in public matches, where they may try and fail to execute the difficult skills of flicking. And I would feel happy for them when they eventually succeed. Playing him is like a gamble, you either lose due to no power, or win in style with flicks, and I love that…
I am not even a veteran Oni main, and I already feel highly demotivated to play my signature killer today. I can't even imagine the disappointment of people who has way more hours than me. Today I wrote this post to say that I'm disappointed, and I AM DISSAPOINTED.

this. Also, muscle memory for Lipy and 1-frame flicks is so screwed up and you can't even do them anymore. Killer just feels so sluggish while astronomically dumbed now.
But ig it was about the time to finally take a break from the game. Thanks Oni, it was a good trip while it lasted

I like Oni. Played him for a while. Feels good to me honestly. No issues.

you have probably never done his 180s before this change then. They are not 180s anymore, they are now just U turns that are so inconsistent that you will either hit the wall while trying to do a sharp 180 or survivor will easily eacape.

I knew they'd screw up in the process of implementing their own flick mechanics. Oni feels clunky now. The "intended" flicks are indeed slower, seemingly not allowing for as tight of a turn, making Oni feel more like a bus. Survivors tucking into corners are regularly impossible to hit. I hope we'll figure out some tech to get back fast and threatening flicks, because this is pretty lame.
Also there appears to be a bug where starting to charge the demon dash incurs a slowdown/cooldown which hasn't been there before. I hope that is not here to stay, as it only adds to how much more clunky Oni feels now.
I've been playing Oni for years and apart from some minor stuff to do with the passive power charge and some possible add-on adjustments, he was perfect and perfectly balanced. Alas.
KBM support is supposedly coming for consoles, so even the (non-)argument of old flicks only having been accessible to PC players is naught.

I think it's good now, they allowed those who play on the controller to do a 180 and in a way that has more counterplay.

To be fair - I have always played him on console so I never had the luxury of 180 flicks with him.
I had to play him normally without the flicks and even then still had no issues against survivors so with that being said this is an upgrade for me. lol
I hear ya though if it’s messed up on pc.1
