Avoiding dc penalty for rage quitting on hooks
I play mostly solo survivor, now that most of my friends don't play, or have time to play the game. I see survivors rage quit on hook around 1out of 6 games. The rage quit happens immediately after they get downed the first time. If they get saved before hitting 2nd state, they usually afk under hook/run to killer intentionally to leave the game without getting dc penalty. Actively recording, reporting and uploading games takes so much time, but I still do it. This has been a major problem for too long now, this happens way too often, it is too easy to leave games without getting penalized. My suggestions to prevent this, is to remove the 2nd stage skill checks completely. There's no way you can even miss those skill checks by accident, unless you are playing with a dial up modem in an internet cafe and being a new player. Luckily sometimes justice happens, If I play killer and see survivor do this, I just slug them, forcing them to take the penalty or be stuck in the game. Today while playing survivor, the killer did the same and justice happened. This also ruins the game for killers. If I play killer and see 1 survivor rage quit instantly, I lose the incentive to even "tryhard" and feel sorry for the survivors stuck in the game and mostly end up letting them all escape and only do 2 hooks on each.

As part of the ongoing QoL updates, ragequitting on hooks will incur you a DC penalty and the loss of a full grade at some point.
That update is not in the game right now, however.9 -
I hope they implement this sooner than later, since the ghoul was released the number of go-next gamers has increased dramatically, the "abandon" feature doesn't seem to be enough incentive for them to not immediately quit

I agree. The skill checks on second hook serve no purpose other than allowing people to quit while avoiding the dc penalty. I see this as no different than allowing the killer to dc at any point without a penalty, which would be silly.

Penalty for rage quit is not solving a problem why survs do so. Game may end up with less quits and less players.

Not necessarily a bad thing. It's like saying to not ban hackers because it will mean less players. These rage quitters that go next and DC ruin the match just as much as a hacker does imo. It would be no big loss if these go nexters were stopped from playing.
Also the reason why they go next can't be solved as people will DC and go next about any little thing. Maybe it's a trapper, a certain map, they got found first, they got hooked first, their friend got killed... These are things can't be solved.

It will make the survivors think twice before rage quitting, as the penalty gets higher each time you do it, surely they don't mind the first 2-3 times, but after 15 minute penalty comes 30 minutes? After that is it 1 hour? If people get those penalties faster, they need to calm down and close the game or actually play the game. If we lose rage quitters, do we actually lose anything? Should we also not ban griefers who ruin the game for others to prevent losing players? I've been held stuck in a game for over 10 minutes by a Wraith, stuck in a corner not being able to move since the killer doesn't hit me. Should we not punish that killer to prevent losing players? We also lose players who cba going game after game to only have rage quitters and griefing. Also patching to remove the skill checks from 2nd state shouldn't be too hard to implement it the next patch, that would actually help.

i notice most of the time when ppl dc the game was lost anyways.
I think removing the 4% would be better or at least reworking the system.

How is it possible to know they are rage quitting and not quitting because their 3 year old kid got hurt and needs their attention?

There isn't. But a 1 minute penalty (which is the first penalty for dcing that day) is not going to affect that parent adversely in the slightest. But for people who consistently quit (for whatever reason) the timer goes up to where it does have an effect. Now if your kid is getting hurt multiple times a day this might effect you, but in that case I think you need to stop playing dbd and start paying more attention to your kid.
[This logic works for just about any type of non rage quitting dc]

My kid got hurt! HE NEEDS HELP!!!!
let me just run to the killer…
and he downed me…
and now he'll hook me, so I'll just miss these skill-checks…

I don't know how it was hard to understand but the child situation is just an example. Any real life chore will take the priority over a videogame for most sane people
