Should I get Kaneki if he seems too good to be true?
Kaneki's just about everything I wanted in a killer, so much so that it made me want to consider playing the game again — anime, looks cool, has a waifu skin, every killer seems to consider him strong and really fun. It all seems like a really perfect buy, but something in the back of my head is practically screaming that it's TOO perfect. It's hard not to stand by that when the survivor side is already in uproar about him.
I can't really help but think it's inevitable he'll get nerfed at least how Chucky did, if not worse. I played Skull Merchant and Trickster before I stopped, so I'm used to bad killers people hate anyway, but I've never really been in a situation where I played a strong killer I really liked, and then they got nuked into obscurity; I'm not sure if that sort of whiplash is something I could deal with. When he does get nerfs (and that's probably inevitable), how likely is he to at least still be enjoyable (so somewhere around B-tier at worst)?

It's almost a certainly he's going to get hard with the nerf bat. Don't fall for the bait and pay for a character whom BHVR will destroy within the next month.

His core power isn't going to get reworked, so if you enjoy web slinging then you'll be fine even if he gets nerfed. If you like getting hits through walls, then I'd hold off. As that part is unlikely to stay.

I’d say just ease up on the peddle before buying him. Wait a few weeks to see but if you truly enjoy what he is as a killer then you should play him even if he gets nerfed. I played post nerf Freddy and I loved it.
Any killer can be used in a fun way no matter how strong so if he truly is everything you wanted as a killer then snatch him up and be enjoy him as he is and if he gets nerfed enjoy him then as well.

I mean even if that's gone it would be okay, I even gonna admit that it's really insane what hits you can get - the only thing that has to stay for me to keep him fun is the slide-canceling. Without it he would have the same issues like legion - of course he would be quicker to move around the map, but his power would still be useless in chase as soon as I injured everyone.

I'm a killer main and even I say, that he's overtuned right now.
If you want a power trip go for it. It's your decision. Especially if you like the character. Never chose a character purely out of other peoples perceived strength. Your opinion matters.
I main Pig and Sadako despite the community deeming them awfully weak (which they are definitely not).
Sadly, it does seem like the trend with new killers getting nerfed continues here.

If he gets nerfed, it will likely just be his recovery from certain actions. For instance, his ability to vault a pallet into an M1 might be too close to OG Chucky, so he might get more recovery frames after a vault to weaken that a bit. But his ability to traverse the map and injure survivors will stay intact.
Even if he ends up on the weaker end of the killer roster, he'd still have plenty of players due to how fun and skill expressive his power is.

I'll buy him because I buy all the characters. He'll definitely be nerfed like Chucky was, after the cash grab. But at least in the future I'll be able to say once again, "This is what we've got. This is what we could have had, and did have once." I say it for Wraith, Clown, Deathslinger, Nemesis, etc. Maybe one day, the devs will take our advice, and actually make all killers decent, instead of allowing 2-3 strong ones and disregarding all others.

That's really the only part that should be universally hated. Someone said there should be an exception to hitting over obstacles with it, like a Nemesis tentacle or Deathslinger chain, which I think is fine. But he definitely doesn't need to be hitting through walls and around corners. It feels as if people are factoring that into his overall strength level forever, instead of accepting it as a bug that will most assuredly be fixed.

That would be okay for me, but bhvr tends to remove fun aspects of killers (in kens case it would be the canceleling for me), so I really hope it stays xD

Theres a high skill ceiling, but he is very close in line with Nurse atm and will likely get nerfed. He is perfect for killer players, for now

Dbd's truly lore one eyed king. Take him, before he gets downed by nerfs.(The more possible people to dissapoint that bought him the better. That devs might have a backlash after nerf that will remind them for who they did this game. I mean surviviors ofcourse!)

This. He's almost certainly going to be nerfed, but I don't know that it'll be that severe. And as you say, the core dynamics of his gameplay almost certainly aren't going to change. I imagine they'll tweak his hitbox, some of the add-ons, and some of the numbers, but I'd be surprised if it's more than that.
If OP is drawn to Kaneki because of the slinging around, etc. and not his overall strength, they should just go ahead imo.

If you are buying him because he seems overpowered and strong, you will be disappointed.
If you are buying him because his power looks cool, you will not be disappointed

The devs are going to listen to whining survivors and skull merchant him like they were considering doing to xenomorph

There's no rush to buy him. He's not going anywhere anytime soon, and even killer-only DLC is included in sales. You could wait a while, see what nerfs he gets hit with.
My friend bought Chucky day one because he likes Chucky and Chucky seemed fun, and he did enjoy playing as Chucky… until he got nerfed. Now Chucky feels clunky and awful and my friend really regrets the purchase. I personally don't consider killer-only chapters to be worth buying straight off because killers always get messed with. I've still never purchased Chucky for my own account.

UUnknowns Still around and he was the most OP, uncounterable Huntress who can explode entire teams in 1 nuke. Apparently.
There's always a chance he'll be Deathslingered. If you played old Slinger this one is awful. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. But it's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all, I suppose

If you are considering buying this character because of how strong most people say he is, keep in mind that you might be disappointed, as he may get nerfed in the future. However, it could be worth purchasing if you enjoy his power and are okay with potential nerfs.

What I generally mean with my original post is that I wanna buy him and Rize because the power seems fun, I like the character even without really following Tokyo Ghoul, and so on. The problem I'm having right now is that I don't know if I really wanna buy him despite that, because it seems just about inevitable that he's gonna get nerfed. The problem with that isn't that I want him OP or anything (if I wanted him for being busted, why wouldn't I just play Nurse or Blight?), it's that:
a) Playing a strong character that gets nerfed into the ground would be unenjoyable whiplash when it happens; I'd rather play a weaker killer that's likely to get buffed
b) Obviously if they nerf him into the ground, he's not really gonna be worth playing
It feels unfortunate this is the sorta dilemma I've gotta think about, especially considering that the main killer I played got intentionally nuked into the ground for being different, and is about to be mutilated into a generic survivor-approved dash killer #58.

I bought him,but now I wish I waited cause there so much drama about him that it's ruining playing him. For one there too many people playing him,and if I play kaneki I'll most likely get survivors who kill themselves, and now cause of the none stop complaining posts about him he will probably get the same treatment skull merchant got. So now I feel like I wasted 5 dollars. For now on I know not to buy a killer that comes out immediately. Instead I'm going to wait for the nerf update to see if that killer is worth buying still. Best advice I can give to other gamers.

i can tell you right now he's fun he will get nerfed into the ground

You should buy it if you enjoy the aesthetics and experience of the killer. These are actually good aspects of him, they are fun, the developers did do a good job here. The Rize skin looks great and resolves the over powering screaming of Kaneki's base skin. Appreciated, even if its a cash grab.
You mentioned playing Trickster and Skull Merchant, Kaneki is not like those in use. He's a mobility based thing, works like Wesker, a little like Blight. If you hate those, I don't see how you'd enjoy this.
There is some massively unintuitive aspects to his skill usage when targeting survivors, whatever is going on with it is influenced by the map you're playing on. I see a lot of survivors facing him and getting mad about these issues, so I suspect there will be adjustments. But I'm not sure they'll actually be nerfs. You'd have to try the power around a wide assortment of objects to see what I'm trying to get it, in short, it almost feels broken, from both sides.
I trust whatever fix they put out won't change his style, he'll always be sorta like Wesker.
I don't trust that the adjustments won't make him feel clunky to play.
Buy it, try it. Its neat, but be aware incompetence in reaction to hyperbolic outrage can potentially leave him frustrating to play, but if nothing else, you'll know after trying him if the other mobility killers are for you.

There is always a possibility they will over-nerf him, so it's probably best to wait. I'm waiting to buy him after the nerf because I want to see what nerfs he receives, and I also don't want to play an OP character that everyone hates, lol.
