Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

How to loop The Ghoul?

I've just come back to dbd after a year+ break, and all my games have been against the ghoul. What I can't put my finger on is how it's power works. It seems all the killer needs to do is look at me and I get deep wounded.

How do I counter this?

Either don't let him get line of sight (so you're going to spend a lot of time around twisty obstacles) even after the first jump, or just take it and then remember he's A) going to catch up in the open, and B) will try to cut you off.

To a degree, the old Nurse trick of doubling back also seems to work.

MFT while zig zagging is the only successful thing I have learned. Unless you're in a Squad your chances of winning are low.

The first hit is a given as the hitscan is obnoxius, however after he injure you thats when you can loop him. So lets asume you are perkless for some reason, go to a tile, preferably a jungle gym, now think of his power as a wesker dash on steroids, that meas is faster but also longer, so runnin in the direction he is when he starts swinging will help you avoid him, take note of running to the direction NOT into him as he can body block you. Then he can either reposition or try to dash back, do not repeat the same thing, instead go for the window and bait it so that he uses the last dash to try and cut you off.

Or you can equip MfT which makes this process way easier.

He's not your typical pushover killer. You're taking that 1st health state almost no matter what, although it makes Resilience and Made For This way stronger against him. I'd consider staying injured. You have to use your body to not let him fly in front of you and cut you off, or else it's a down like it would be against a Wraith body block. And at loops, you need to cut them efficiently, even at god pallets, and at windows, because when he attaches to you and vaults them, you're slowed a bit. And his cooldowns are fast, which you can't feel that much playing as him, but because every other killers' cooldowns are so long, his are like lightning by comparison. Most likely when (not if) he gets nerfed, the auto-aim and the hitting through walls with his power will be fixed.

One of those killers where you have to hope they're way below your skill level to consistently win against them. You pretty much have to just accept its guaranteed downs and try to double down on gen pressure.

    It will get nerfed though.

The initial hit is definitely easy, just like legion, but the follow up swings are what needw to be learned to counter. From my experiences, the best thing to do is: not drop pallets since he will easily injure you regardless, double back on follow up swings towards a pallet while hes on cooldown (5 second grace period). I've done this against a few ghouls and have gotten up to 2 minutes of chase, and pretty angry reactions from the killers via hook bm

He still needs to be nerfed obviously, but this has worked a lot to make my chases last longer against them. Potential nerfs/buffs I'd like to suggest are:

    • Reduced leap speed from 15m/s to 10m/s
    • Reduced Survivor and vault lock on aim assist (this actually hurts the killer more than it helps once you're chasing an injured Survivor and accidentally swing to them directly causing a massive speed penalty and the full power cooldown (12 seconds normal, 7.5 seconds enraged)
    • Increased time until the basic attack becomes available post leap to 2 seconds
    • Increased movement speed post leap to his base movement speed of 4.6m/s
    • Increased slide duration to 1 second
    • Decreased slide speed to 15m/s
    • NEW/BUGFIX (not sure if this is actually a thing or not already, but i have a polished idea on how it could be) - You can now move as the ghoul is actively pulling himself towards you to initiate a grab attack. Snagging his kagune on a object will stop the grab attack from occurring, but will still inflict the kagune mark countdown. The ghoul's power will go into full enraged cooldown and he will maintain base movement speed, still unable to attack for 2 seconds as previously stated

With these changes, his first hit becomes more preventable through giving more reaction time and Reduced aim assist, but he is still able to maintain his mobility through Increased durations. His catch up is more effective speed wise, but he can't just insta down people anymore due to having his attack back so fast, giving survivors a chance to make a pallet or window

Just pre drop pallets and the ghoul will die

im not convinced this actually works. I feel you need to treat him like a MLO killer and play the pallet a bit tighter and pray for the stun; Kaneki vaulting the pallet could be really bad for you since you cant run back into him. Dissolution is quite popular too so I think that habit could backfire

i feel tight looping+ chaining the tiles is the way to go. Pray that the gens get done before the level becomes a wasteland
