Sacrificed without being hooked?
So I was just playing in a match, and the first downed surv went next on hook immediately. We remaining three played things out, another surv was sacrificed and it so it was down to two. My teammate was on death hook and got downed, and when they were picked up, I jumped in a locker because I suspected the killer had BBQ.
So here's where it got weird: she had been picked up for a while, long enough that she should have wiggled, and then the match just ended abruptly, and showed both of us as sacrificed, though she hadn't been hooked the final time, and I hadn't been hooked at all.
No network error, it showed we all got our BPS, but it showed both of us as sacrificed on the end game totals.
Is there some obvious explanation for this I am missing, or was it a bug? In almost six years of DBD I haven't seen this.

Sounds like no generators were completed within a 10 minute time frame and the Killer opted to use the new Abandon Match / Surrender feature. When the Killer activates it, the match declares the Survivors sacrificed.

That must have been it. He kept slugging us and we kept picking each other up and we didn't actually finish a gen. Didn't realize it was 10 minutes, though.

I am not sure if I like that the Killer can abandon at this point and win the game on the spot. This really promotes 3-genning from the start again and also circumvents the Gen Regression Limit, since you can 3-Gen and will probably not reach the 8 Regression Events before you can abandon as Killer and get all other Survivors sacrificed.

I didn't pay much attention to the notes on this update before… am I understanding correct that its 10 minutes without completing a generator (and no other stipulations)?
I'm sure every solo queue player has experienced more than a handful of 15+ minute games in which not a single generator is complete, or the first 2 generators are complete and nothing after. I don't know about anyone else, but being able to complete a generator in those harrowing trials is a small victory.
Now you're telling me the killer can start a timer and play for stall?
Slap on every gen slowdown, and you've found yourself a new win con.3 -
If that becomes true, then hopefully the devs will change it.
Giving the killer the option to surrender and kill the survivors when no gen has been completed for 10 minutes is the unfortunate consequence of a large number of survivor players saying, "I don't have to do gens. My objective as survivor is to survive. That means not dying. So I'll just stealth around the outskirts of the map doing nothing until everyone else does gens or I get hatch." (Or I'd find survivors hiding together trying to get me to DC when I played killer.) I left a lot of matches as survivor because I had multiple teammates doing that, and it only took a minute of spectating to know the killer was about to be stuck in that match for another 30 minutes because he was patrolling gens that no one had any intention of getting near.
I've had more than one person on these forums tell me I was entitled for thinking my teammates should touch gens, arguing that stealthing around the edges of the map was a legitimate playstyle. So here we are, an extreme way to deal with something that shouldn't have been happening in the first place, but DbD doesn't have structured gameplay, so the devs look for band-aid fixes to the problems they've allowed to become widespread.

Its bugged and does not actually have to be 10 minutes before the killer can surrender
