Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

My thoughts on the Blood Moon Event so far

It really does feel like we live in a weird cycle when it comes to DBD Events, Halloween always knocks it out of the park with interesting new mechanics, Christmas comes around as a neat novelty, and then the Blood Moon kinda sucks

Currently the Blood Moon event has some unique ideas, but the implementation sucks. Blood Gens are a interesting idea for addressing gen speeds and I can honestly see a variation of it coming to the main game, however.

  1. No interaction with Gen-related perks on either side massively reduces perk variety, All of the gen kick perks don't work, Fire Up doesn't work, Prove doesn't work, Potential Energy doesn't work, Weaving Spiders doesn't work, ######### nothing works, and they take up 4 gens on the map so there's just no point in taking pretty much any of the "good" slowdown perks or anything related to gens at all, don't get me wrong it feels nice not feeling like I'm forced to run at least one slowdown every game, but still, it just feels really weird to have nothing work with them.
  2. You get no ######### points for doing them. The entire point of the Blood Moon is to massively increase BP Gains, so then why does 80% of the survivor's Objective in this event not only give ZERO Objective points, but also gives practically no Event points either? 200 for filling a can, 50 for emptying the full thing into a gen, and then 5k for completing a gen, meanwhile you can get the same result with working on a regular gen with a teammate and getting some Great Skill Checks, like look at this screenshot that I got from doing a full regular gen and a exit gate and tell me Blood Gens shouldn't give Objective Points, the entire point of this Event is to get a ######### ton of BP, so give me a ######### ton of BP from playing the goddamn game image.png
  3. The Blood Gens have absolutely zero interaction with Killers and that is easily the part of this that annoys me the most, the only interaction Killer has with this event is destroying Blood Cans that you can't even knock out of Survivors hands by downing them, they have to drop them first which they will never do because that would be a massive waste of their time, and can hear survivors carrying cans easier, that's it, no interactions with the killer, no unique features that Killers can use to their advantage, nothing. Like…why? Every other Event has had something that both Killers and Survivors can use, they weren't always equal but they were there, hell the last Blood Moon had something that both sides were able to interact with and get benefits from with the free Iron Will and balanced Coup De Grace the Blood Zones gave you, this event just has absolutely nothing for Killer, and just leaves me with a feeling of "Welp, I'll do the challenges, then get back to playing MH Wilds"

That being said, I don't think this is that unsalvageable, at least for the next Blood Moon

  1. Make Blood Gens give Objective points and more points in general
  2. Let them be effected by perks like normal Gens
  3. Make them spawn large Blood Zones when they're completed

Boom, done, makes this event infinitely better then it currently is

Like I said, if the event isn't improved I'm just going to gather the rewards and call it a day, because this event has similar problems to last year's version, incredible cosmetics, mid event that takes forever to actually deliver on the supposed "Biggest BP Gains of any Event" we were promised

G'night,
