Are you guys actually escaping 40% of your solo q matches
Cant tell if im just the worst player ever, i swear to god i escape probably 4 or 5 every 25 solo q games, i refuse to believe 40% is the average

40% escape rate is bs in my experience, id say i escape once every 2-5 hours. I typically get teammates that are really bad vs a killer that's playing like their lives depend on a 4k.

It's about 40% by official stats, although that ignores every game with a disconnect.
So, even though killers can disconnect and raise the escape value, survivors disconnecting is more common. And usually a survivor disconnecting means the team is not likely to escape.
The actual "player experience" is probably in the 30%-40% range. Nightlight, with limited stats, has the "overall kill rate" at about 57%, so a 43% escape rate.
Although your personal experience is going to be impacted by things like region, time of day, MMR, how many teammates you group with, whether you're doing challenges or sweating, etc.

DBD is the only game where you could be the most cracked survivor in the universe and still get no more than 50% escape rate in soloQ so yeah soloQ is soloQ and that's it.
22 -
I escape maybe 30% of times. Very often when survivors are about to lose someone dc. So 40% is not reality. Killers dominate most of the time and matches were escapes happen killers usually throw.
16 -
40% of all matches? no... Due to teammates avoiding gens and go next. 40% of matches where the team actually plays the game? I would say yes roughly around that escape rate.
-11 -
If I'm actually trying probably like 60% at least.
-16 -
it’s just the nature of solo q haha

So it really depends on how you play and how your opponent plays. It depends not only on the killer, but also on your survivor teammates. Please keep in mind that there are many players who also do dailies or try to complete challenges. I haven't been playing too long, but I do a good 15-20 matches a day as a survivor and there are days when it goes well and days when it goes less well. You can't really say for sure. When things are going well, I escape almost every 2nd game. Sometimes I manage 3-4 escapes and then I don't manage 3-4 games in a row. It always depends.

I do probably get out at least 40% of my games (if we're including hatch)
Official stats maybe Official but discounting any game with a DC (of which there are many) is always going to put stats more where they'd like them.
Stats might be stats but they can be easily manipulated to look a certain way depending on the data the user chooses.
Last time I did a full year of stats my escape rate was 57% (playing every survivor using only adept perks) over 10,000 games
I intend to do to that again starting with the next chapter as its survivor only & ghoul fever might have calmed down by then hopefully making killer pick data a bit more relevant.
Full roster adept only (no items) 100% solo i'll take 40% now if anyone is offering!

BHVR's 40% escape rate target doesn't mean you will escape 40% of the time. It's an average of everyone. For every SWF that 4Es 6 of you solos have to die.
2 -
I'd say more like 45% unless I decide to go back and risk myself to get someone else out (which i usually do - just more fun). If the killer gets their butt handed to them, I usually offer myself as a sac as a pitty offering for the killer so they don't feel so bad. If I was playing entirely selfishly, I'd probably go over 50%, but i prefer to be a team player. I'm usually at no hooks by the time others are on death hook, so I end up having to run around and bodyblock and take heat off of others which does put me in harm's way, obviously.
Usually if you're good at looping, killers will just leave you alone. Sometimes you can do silly things like this, too

What I would like to know is how often people get a gate escape. Getting a reasonably high escape rate by playing for the hatch is not hard. It's just boring gameplay that involves a lot of waiting around. If you ever watch streamers doing streaks in solo queue then you'd know this is what they do to get high escape streaks. I have consistently done slightly over 50% escape rate without going out of my way to get the hatch. Just by playing the games out naturally. I struggled to go higher than this. This was 500+ games worth of data and I did not throw anything out like Behavior does.

this is no lie. i suck at survivor but i escape well over 70% to this day. I simply run genrush build and do my objective quick and efficient , gen bambambam, killer demoralized.
-17 -
it depends on your team mates really.
I noticed it tends to be in days like one day every game team mates will be horrific an it will be a nightmare to escape. Other days ill have all decent team mates an escape every or almost every game.
When i did my stats for 2v8 i had a 52% escape rate.1 -
lmfao
15 -
it is the truth. so many times i see people leaving gen when they see first heartbeat, i dont care if i have to go down to complete a gen and the people who makes your escape hard is the ones running around in panic leaving blood trails everywhere. Just sit on the gen, use prove thyself. Dejavu, maybe some other gen perk. Dont go save your useless teammate unless they are really dying there on the hook, the gen is more important than some fool.

The problem is the removal of the tier system, it use to be that rank 4 would fight rank 4 and 3 and 3 would fight 4 and 2 and so on and on. But now the system was remove so a new player can now fight high tier killer if that is all that online, which is usually the case.
this is one of the main cause that lead to new player just outright quitting, and how new blood is so little. it was great cause the new character level is nice but i rather trade the ranking system back as it was far more balance.
1 -
Nah. I like to say that most people get better at games the longer they play. I'm the opposite, apparently I just get worse
8 -
No—I contribute to my team because the win condition is that three bodies leave the trial, not my own. Under this lens, I would say my team wins 60-70% of the time. I need to start tracking statistics but I play on console.

My SoloQ escape rate always be around 28-29%

It would be way higher than 40% under competent matchmaking. I don't know what the devs' plan is when the FNAF crowd gets here. All of their changes they've recently revealed have been to cater to casuals. Let's just suspend disbelief that that's a bad idea, just for a minute. What difference will any of those changes make if the matchmaking still forces smurf matches? Those new players are going to be easy pickings, and they're not gonna like it. Fixing the matchmaking would exponentially lessen the slamming the devs will face when the inevitable complaints start rolling in, because they'll have less to complain about.
To me, the devs see their 60/40 kill/escape rate as ideal, no matter what the cost. When MMR initially dropped, when it was the most accurate (putting people of similar skill level together, consistently), they didn't get their desired results, but rather than continuing to make balance changes to fix that, some genius must've said, "We don't have to buff killer OR solo. Just change the matchmaking." So that's what happened, with MMR being way less strict, to where a 10-hour player is getting put with a 10,000-hour player. Nobody's having fun, because killers are getting stomped by high level survivors, and solos are getting stomped by high level killers. But hey, at least the 60/40 golden equation is being met.

It's pretty funny that people down vote the ones that escape 40% or more. It's like they are saying "boooo, you escape more than me so must be my own skill issue that I don't escape 40% of the time" lmao
-5 -
Solo queue player here. On average, 40% feels about right. Some days are terrible and I’ll get out 1 of 5, and others are much better with 3 out of 5.
Also, we don’t even know if 40% is still valid since the devs barely ever provide stats, and when they do, they are never interesting or useful to understand game balance.-3 -
I never escape. I joke about how the escape or end game challenges are the impossible challenges and just save them for 2v8. I haven’t played survivor in awhile though because every match was just super sweaty killers with a tunneling fixation.
2 -
There was a time when I tracked my matches with spreadsheets and Nightlight and my escape rate was around 30%. I don’t bother tracking my stats any more though because it was just depressing how many matches ended up ruined for whatever reason.
3 -
- for me it depends on the day (and the time slot... in the morning my escape rate is very high). there are days where I escape very often, other days where escaping seems really impossible
0 -
I estimate it's normally around 20% to 30%, but my "official" escape rate according to BHVR is 35%. I think that's probably gone down a little, though. I play at times when there's a BP incentive for Survivor, which usual makes for more uneven trials and I run silly meme builds often, so that probably has a negative overall effect on my escape rate. I also think my MMR must be as low as it can go, which no doubt hurts my chances as well.
But it's hard to tell what my real escape rate is, because I exclusively play events whenever they're live (Chaos Shuffle / 2 VS 8 / Blood Moon etc). Since BHVR don't track event stats and the match making is a lot more lenient in those modes anyway, I probably escape a lot more or a lot less than usual (depending on the mode in question).
There's also not much time when only the regular mode is available to play these days, so I hardly ever play normal DBD anymore.

I've been 100% soloQ surv since the game launched. SWF and party chats are you're best bet if you have that option. I'm used to not escaping much but I try my best anyway.

I'm pretty sure those downvotes actually mean, "70% escape rate is BS." I agree that obvious liars are funny, though.
6 -
It's been probably a good year since I tracked my escapes, and IIRC it was about 35% including hatch and 28% not including hatch. I've seen hatch maybe 3 times since the Finisher mori update, so I reckon my escape rate would be around the same (30% give or take)
4 -
i'm on the same boat as far as escaping in solo queue . However on 99% of those matches i don't even blame the killer for my loss . To many solo queue survivors are playing for themselves and not as a team or just doing tomes / fooling around. Makes ot difficult to balance the game when some people go into a match without the endgoal of winning and instead they just want to do totems for a ramdom tome or go for uneeded flashlight saves.

So a few years ago when they released their overall stats. If a person escaped in an SWF they counted that as a win for the SWF, that's why those percentages were so high. It was in the small print. My stats were 42% and I'm not that great. It really depends on who you get matched with and the killer. I really think now since the Ghoul is out it is obviously much lower.
1 -
no clue, couldn’t tell you to be honest, I don’t track it. I can tell you this much though I absolutely die more than i live.
0 -
I play killer and honestly this is most of the reason survivors lose.
When survivors work together or even just have decent coordination the game is atleast 40% harder. When everyone is playing their own game and ignoring teamwork it becomes a 1v1x4. Teamwork will help win I promise.
That’s the reason SWFs are so scary as killer cause they can communicate what they are doing and where they are.
honestly if soloq got a quick chat feature to point out where you are based on landmarks and what you are doing it would raise soloq stats cause killers won’t be able to play their 1v1 anymore-1 -
Its true that there are many unwinnable matches, but on average you can easily push above 50%. Hens333 did it and while hes certainly in the top percent theres still better players.
But yh you shouldnt expect to win any match alone.
-1 -
You mean the video where he tries different builds and see the % for 10 matches for each build ? Yeah I believe the best build 10 matches was like 70% right ? When I say 50% I am talking generally, not a sample of 10 matches. You could really pop off for 10 matches then get a DC, a go next…
But the actual % doesn't matter that much. I am trying to say that in some other games, if you're really a god you could carry the team by your sheer impact but in Dead By Daylight, the killer could just ignore you all game and you still lose.
But yh you shouldnt expect to win any match alone.+1

I play strictly solo queue and according to my mental math I escape about 33-35% of the time (via the gates), which was supported by the numbers BHVR gave us earlier (for what those are worth).
The thing about it is that it is so often a game of streaks, and when you're in a bad one it can really feel like you never escape. Especially if you have such a bad run that you get dragged down to lower MMR, which just compounds things.
I've lost 10-12 in a row, sure. But I've also escaped 7-8 times in a row multiple times. Solo queue is just a roller coaster.
1 -
no, but its just a skill issue on my end
1 -
Maybe, but it feels contrived. Most of the trials are either unwinnable from the start or easy 3/4 outs. Maybe 20% of my games feel like they could have gone either way
1 -
So, I don't track my own personal escape rate, but my full team escape rate for just my SoloQ matches is 41% across 231 games played over the last 6 months.
So, just barely, yeah.

Stats! My favorite thing! I've actually been writing down how every survivor match goes for me in an Excel sheet, so I might as well share. I play mostly as a duo with a friend of mine, so these stats are of me playing duo.
REGULAR QUEUE
Based on a total of 75 matches since 2025 started (ranging from March 7th to April 3rd).
- I escaped 40% of matches.
- 36% of matches were net killer loses (at least 3 survivors escaped), two (7%) of which were killer DCs.
- 41% of total matches were net killer wins (at least 3 survivors had been sacrificed by the time I stopped spectating).
- 6% of games someone either DCd or let go on hook.
- 15% of my games overall involved either hardcamping, hardtunneling or hardslugging ("hard" implies that the killers went fully for this strategy, NOT that someone was hooked twice in a row, NOT that the killer slugged a bit because people were going for flashlight saves, NOT that the killer was proxycamping). Only 9% of the games involving these strategies were net killer loses.
- Map offerings were used in 30% of matches. Only 20% of those offerings were burned by killers, and 35% of the map offerings overall were negated by Sac Wards.
BLOOD MOON
Based on a total of 22 matches so far.
- I escaped 13% of matches.
- Only 9% of matches were net killer loses (at least 3 survivors escaped).
- At least 73% of total matches were net killer wins (at least 3 survivors had been sacrificed by the time I stopped spectating).
- 18% of games, someone let go on hook (no DCs).
- 26% of overall games involved hardcamping, hardtunneling or hardslugging. All games involving those strategies were net killer wins.
- Map offerings were used in 8% of games, both times by survivors. They were not nullified by Sac Wards and we were sent to their respective maps both times.
- 26% of games were against Kaneki. All Kaneki games were net wins for the killer.
CHAOS SHUFFLE
Based on a total of 77 matches during the last iteration of the game mode, ranging from March 18th to 27th).
- I escaped 38% of matches.
- 31% of matches were net killer loses (at least 3 survivor escaped), with one (4%) of them being a killer DC.
- At least 46% of total matches were net killer wins (at least 3 survivors had been sacrificed by the time I stopped spectating).
- 7% of games a survivor let go on hook (no DCs).
- 23% of games involved hardcamping, hardtunneling or hardslugging. 27% of games involving these strategies were net killer loses.
- Map offerings were used in 19% of games. Only 20% of those offerings were burned by killers, and only 13% of the map offerings overall were negated by Sac Wards.
My main conclusions from these stats are:
- Most matches are polarized, with them being either 3+ man escapes or 3+ survivors dead. Ties are somewhat rarer in comparison.
- Suicides have doubled in the Blood Moon event.
- Map offerings are mostly played by survivors, which is no surprise to be honest.
- The 40% escape is valid for my duo experience, which probably means that as a solo player it's a bit lower than that (don't have the stats for this though since I can't be bothered to play survivor on my own these days).
- Killers hardcamp, hardtunnel and hardslug quite more during events.
- Blood Moon sucks lol
3 -
I would imagine most people probably do not.
Since BHVR discounts any matches with DC's, those statistics are likely underselling what the real average match looks like.
