Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Starting off, the new survivor is great but her perks could use some number changes. Duty of care is a bit too strong and the other ones are a bit week. Her lore is good and it's very nice to see an original trans survivor in the game ❤️
Now to the mostly negatives…
- New rarity system: most of these are good, Visceral, Awakened and legendarny skins having cool animated backgrounds is nice too but there is one major problem with this one. The removal of yellow and the nee blue. It's a small change yes but it affects a lot of people negatively. The simple premise of this one is, dbd wants to be more like that other games (mainly, Fortnite) and using the colors they use for rarities should help new players. The thing is, it's not- There was never a situation in history of this game when anyone was confused about the rarities colors because they're slightly different to more popular games like Fortnite. All this dose is confuse veteran, current and retuning players a lot. We've had this system for 9 years, we've learned that if someone says "I've got a green flashlight" or "the Green toolbox" we associate it with a pretty good item, now green is replacing yellow and blue is added as a replacement. Not only does it make everything look cursed for people who played this game for years (I've never felt so uncomfortable looking at a video game icon in my life, it's a weird feeling 😭) it's going to take months for people to get used to these. In short new players will be indifferent and everyone else is affected negatively, it's a simple change yes but after 9 years you just don't change stuff like this. And on top of that, blue and purple next to eatchotter are hard to distinguish for some colorblind people
- The new Quest system: on the surface it's great! Being able to do multiple things in a trail is amazing and takes a lot of the grinding out of the game. But the more you look into it the worse it gets. The new quest system came with the removal of Glyoh, memery fragments and random perk challenges. They're still accessible through the orhinal tomes but we're not getting any new ones for one simple reason. The quests are always on, that means you cannot add quests that directly interfer with normal gameplay. For example, you can't add random perks because with how the new system works you would be forced to play games with this, or you can't add pink glyphs because, what if the survivor didn't read the quests, getting randomly exposed in the middle of the game would be incredibly unfair and extramly confusing for new players. Not to mention the new quest are just... Bland, there is nothing to them. No character specific quests, no perk specific quests they're all just "hold M1 on a gen for 400 second" or "be chased for 60 seconds" or "hide from the killer for 100 seconds" these are the type of challenges most people find the worst thing about the archives. They're not... Challenges they're just something you do in every game. Having even a simple challenge like the white glyphs with the mirror was something that added little vaiartity to the game and Made it less repetitive. Being forced to make a build around Breakout because you had a challenge around this perk made people experiment and sometimes discover really fun builds they decide to stick with. The quest system has non of that, it's just something that happens in the background that most players won't care about, not to mention there aren't any completion rewards for it. It removes a lot of incentive to log on into the game. It's another thing that's trying to be like Fortnite, simple quests to progress through the battle pass. On top of that one snall thing, the removal of the Observers Tower/ The House of Arkham as the background. It's a small change, not really that important but it removes some charm from the dbd menus. Renaming The rift to "The rift pass" or Rituals to "Quests" does the same. It just feels like dbd lost a lot of it's personality with these menus being it wants to be Fortnite...
My personal feedback:
- The new rarity system: Remove the blue and bring back yellow, everything else is a good and nice change. Visceral, Ascened and legendary are very cool and should stay, but the blue and yellow changes do noting but confusion to the players for no reason at all
- The Quest system: create a new tab called something like "Challenges" where the quests need to be turned on, this will allow for fun stuff like Glyphs, memery fragments, random perks and character quests to remain without affecting the new quest system. It would also allow for new Challenges much harder then before, ones that before would not be acceptable because you need to get through them to finish the rift. It would give veteran players that like to challenge themselves invested
Small not necessary but nice changes:
- Bring back the Tower as a background for quests, it's just a small detail that goes a long way
- Rename quests to "Rituals" and the rift pass to just "The Rift" it would fit within the dbd naming sheme and it's another small thing that adds a little bit of charms into the game
