Killer Concept: The Dichotomy

Idea for a killer concept, let me know what you think could make the killer better.

The Dichotomy, Oswald Hearston, is a fire chief gone renegade. Starting as a volunteer in the fire department, his aspiration to the department only grew as he was given more responsibilities. At the time, he was experimenting with a new substance that was gaseous in most temperatures. The substance, named Hearston's formula, was found to have a low combustion temperature, and a high freezing temperature. Keeping the formula a secret, Oswald used the chemical to create scenes of damage, remotely activating the perforated buildings when he was at the station, where he would arrive with his cabaret to come to the 'rescue.' One day, however, he flew too close to the sun and created a scene he would not escape from. The building collapsed, blocking out the exits. As he was trapped under the rubble, his Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus wailing its ear-piercing rescue alarm, it would have been easy to mistake the black fog rolling in as the smoke from the fire raging around him.

Power: Hearston's Formula

A toxic gas with strange chemical properties, the Dichotomy fills the trial with the hazardous substance.

Passive Ability: SCBA

At the beginning of the trial, all survivors start with a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus equipped. The SCBA's start with a full cylinder of compressed air. As survivors move around the trial, they use up the air in the cylinders, indicated to them by the HUD. Actions such as running or repairing generators increase the use of air from the cylinders. If the survivor runs out of air in the cylinder, they are given the hindered status effect, and they are forced to perform all actions slowly, such as vaulting and repairing, until they can replenish their supply. Around the trial, stations to replace your cylinders with fresh ones will spawn. Survivors can replenish their air supply here, or they can use the Emergency Breathing Support System (EBSS) on their packs to share their air with each other.

Primary Ability: Gas Trail

By pressing and holding the primary ability button, the Dichotomy can condense the gas into a single point. By moving the camera around, the gas leaves a trail, which dissipates after a period of time. The gas can go through walls but will lock to a point where there is ground available to the survivors. (To better understand this idea, think of it like holding a charged nurse blink. As you move the camera around, it leaves a trail similar to Pyramid Head and his trails).

Secondary Ability: Critical Point

The Dichotomy can swap between a freezing critical point, and an immolation critical point, by tapping the secondary ability button. These points can be seen by the whirlwind of embers or snow whirling around the Dichotomy. By pressing and holding the secondary ability button, the Dichotomy will slow down, and gradually increase the size of the whirlwind until it hits a cap. If the condensed gas trail comes in contact with the whirlwind, it will immediately freeze or immolate depending on the whirlwind. If the gas freezes, any survivor caught in it will lose a portion of air in their SCBA, and the gas freezes on the ground. Walking over a frozen patch of gas on the ground will cause the survivor to slip periodically, where they need to land a skill-check to prevent falling. If the survivor falls, they will need to stand back up, slowing them down. If the gas immolates, any survivor caught in the combustion will lose a health state.

Perk Ideas:

Fireman's Carry: You've been trained to move and take damage when carrying others. While carrying a survivor, you can perform break actions and the vault action. Getting stunned or blinded while carrying a survivor doesn't drop the survivor and instead adds 50%/40%/30% to their wiggle bar.

Rapid Intervention Team: From experience of running into collapsing buildings, you know to move your ass. While within 8/12/16 meters of a survivor repairing a generator, gain a 10% haste effect.

Asphyxiation: You're trained to handle the smoke in your lungs and eyes, but others panic. When a survivor is performing an action with a progress bar, the bar vanishes for the survivor at 50%/40%/30% completion.

l really like the concept! I've always wanted a first responder as a killer (even if it is a hose dragger, smh). I'd be interested to see more global effects from killers, since I can only think of two that really do that. Freddy with the dream world and my boi Dredge with Nightfall. I also really like the perks; I think busting through a pallet with a survivor would be a super interesting play. I’m curious how that would mix with other perks! Either way, I love seeing original killer ideas.

The fireman's carry is exactly the kind of comfort perk i live for
