Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

What, if anything, do Bloody Cosmetics signify to you?

When I used to play Friday the 13th: The Game, after a match, if a Jason player destroyed the lobby and was wearing bloody skins, many players would insult the playstyle of Jason (similar to the way it goes in this game)

Often times people would point out that by the Killer (Jason) choosing the bloody skins, they were showing off that they were a sweaty or try hard player.

Do any of you feel that way in DBD? For example if you see the Killer is wearing their bloody prestige cosmetic, do you interpret it as a sign the match is going to be miserable as Survivors?

Same question to Killers about Survivors wearing them.

For many years all my charcters were only equipped with bloody cosmetics, mostly because I wasn't a fan of most skins & spent enough on the game I wasn't paying for them!

In terms of actual meaning I can't say i've ever given it much thought, there's so many cosmetics these days they're rare, (except freddy & Quentin)

I certainly wouldn't accociate them with sweaty or miserable games, I think some outfits tend to lead to certain types of games, Legion in the bunny outfits for example tend to mess around more, most stoner ghostface tend to be more chill (or mori machines)

I just hope when they update tge prestige rewards we get some unique cosmetics for p100 & make it worth leveling up more characters!

I'd love bloody versions of legendaries too honestly, I don't think they mean sweaty, some characters helps them hide better but I personally like them coz it adds to the horror aesthetic of the game.

Me too lol. I'm too cheap to buy cosmetics, so I take what I can.

Usually that the player is bad, tbh. Most good players have played for a long time and have a rift skin at the very least for basically everyone.

Why should I? Getting a full bloody skin for a specific character is so easy it doesn't say anything about that player.

In general I only say how the match will play out as soon as I see the first chase/chases, but if you want to make a connection to good players and cosmetics, you have to know the people maining those characters. Good weskers often have the police-skin, nurses the black dress and so on.

Survivors are the same: the best example are probably aces with the mad hatter and neas with the sprayer-skin that everyone that wants to play if they are sweating.

I have a big place in my heart for all the bloody cosmetics. For one, the basic outfit is usually somewhat iconic for the character, as you see so many of them wearing it, and the bloody cosmetics are a nod towards the characters classics, while adding something interesting to the mix and I have them unlocked for all killers and most of my survivors.

But I also love the bloody cosmetics conceptually, for they signify that this character is no mere rookie, but has been into their fair share of trials and bears to wounds and marks to show it.

One of my biggest points on the wishlist were to make the bloody cosmetics a toggle for others. I know that it might look janky on some cosmetics, but overall it probably would be such an awesome upgrade to have a little checkbox in the corner that allows you to apply the bloody overlay to basically any cosmetics. It could be one of the higher Prestige upgrades, like 20 - 40 - 60 or something like that.

The bloody look is so iconic for the horror franchise and many cosmetics sadly lack the zest I am looking for. Some bloody cosmetics really change the look of the character considerably, like Cheryl is one of my favorite, her blond hair turning basically brunette, haha, she must have literally drowned in blood. Or Yoichi is also pretty cool, his signal bright oil jacket having aquired a muted and nearly stealthy tone by all the blood and grime. Skullmerchant, for all her flaws, also turns basically into a redhead, which is pretty morbidly funny if you think about it. Ripleys one is also pretty rad and visually appealing.

Usually I am looking forward to unlocking the bloody head cosmetic, as the head and face is often the focal point to what your eyes are drawn, but sadly there are also some cosmetics that disappoint a lot in this department and where you have to squint hard to even see a difference to the basic one.

With the Alien basically the entire bloody cosmetics might go unnoticed, but in this case I think they couldn't do much because of how its designed. Dredge is kinda the same and most players wouldn't notice any difference between his regular and bloody outfit.

I can tell you that, before he got his model update, a P3 Quentin was one of the scariest players you could encounter.

    Now? Eh.

I remember when if you were a p3 Laurie you basically got lobby dodged because that meant you were a swf team and someone was ratting with original OoO. Killers often wouldn’t even chase you just for being a Laurie. I think it used to mean something because you lost everything when you would prestige and it took forever to get to 50. Now? Doesn’t mean anything.

Nothing, aside from making you slightly harder for the killer to see on dark maps. I used to throw them on characters I never use, but at this point I've been playing for so long I have at least like five non-stock outfits even for characters I'd never spend on.

Indeed. Old Quentin was nightmare fuel.

I've honestly never associated bloody cosmetics, or a Killer having all 3 perk charms on their hooks for that matter, with sweaty playstyles or a potentially miserable match.

The bloody prestige cosmetics can be acquired for free, and depending on the character (especially licensed ones) they are often the only option players have. Some variants are a bit lackluster imo, others change the character in a noticeable way. Just look at Dracula's prestige outfit, where his eyes turn blood-red.

This alone was the reason I wanted him P6 even before I decided to get all licensed killers to that level. It's also the cosmetic I currently run the most (especially now with the Blood Moon event).
