You are now forced to login every day to complete a rift
What a complete joke. This was the ONE thing that DBD had going for it in the "battle pass" system. Is that it never made me feel like i had to login every day. I was able to play a day or 2 on the weekend. Wait till the new tier launched of the tome, and then could finish up the pass still with plenty of time to spare.
Unless they are hiding extra fragments behind the weekly challenges, you only get 45 levels from the weeklys and another 38 from the dailies. Basically FORCING you to play every single day, and if you miss one you stand no chance of completeing the rift. And even then i don't see where the other 17 levels are coming from. I guess milestone challenges? But those i'd imagine run out at some point right?
EDIT: My misunderstanding of milestones, i was assuming they were permanent, not per rift. But it still stands that unless they are hiding extra fragments from us that we are not aware of, that means over the course of the 83 day rift you get:
- 37.35 Levels from dailies
- 38.5 Levels from milestones
- 45 Levels from Weeklies
This is a total of 120.85 levels maximum.
Which means to complete the rift pass to level 100 without having to log in every day, you need to, complete every single weekly, complete every single milestone and still log in for 37 of the 83 days. Forcing you to log in for almost half of the days of the rift. So its not quite every day, but its instead every other day. Still a far cry from before where i could play a day or 2 every weekend and still complete the pass. And of course this isn't just a simple "log in" every day. I have to login every day, and likely play a minimum of 2 games every other day to make it work.

I dont think so as long as youre doing all the challenges you have besides Daylies. If youre not doing all challenges, due to playing just one side, youre maybe screwed with the points anyway. Depends on how many fragments there are as rewards outside the new ssystem, like in new modes and events.

Also Fragment Frenzy is no more which seems like the Rift is an utter grind now.
18 -
That´s confusing - i hope they explain if we still get Rift Fragment progress just from playing?
7 -
Ugh. This quest system seems like such a huge downgrade. And an unnecessary one too. What was so wrong with the Tomes?
54 -
This is sometimes what BHVR does. One good step forward, (accidental) three steps back.
People: "Hey can we have more than one archive active at a time?"
BHVR: "Sure, here's an ENTIRE REWORK to the system"
44 -
From my gameplay tonight, you don't! If you miss out on challenges, too bad, no rift fragments for you. What an awful decision.
14 -
You basically cant miss out on challanges, cause theyre active at all times you play.
-1 -
I do like that quest auto complete upon completion and that I can do more than one at a time. Very neat. It needs some polishing though and there are somethings that just aren't necessary.
2 -
If you don't play every single day you're losing out on the daily challenges. Also, if you've finished out the dailies for a given day there's no incentive to keep playing if you want to grind the rift. Before this every single match made some progress toward the rift even if I didn't advance a challenge.
22 -
If we give feedback maybe they'll listen, I guess also they'll be twitch drops and weekly gifts that give them.
I personally love how easy it is to complete them all, just a bit sad I don't get match exp towards it, that's all I ask.2 -
It's like BHVR's just rage baiting to keep people engaged with their game at this point.
23 -
Agreed. I like being able to progress all the challenges at once, but removing match xp toward fragments is a disappointing change.
16 -
my number one fear about the rift rework making it more like other more exploitative games that don't respect your time, and lo and behold, it's now just like every other exploitative game that doesn't respect my time!
no doubt if i quit playing, bhvr will see it as "we're losing players because the new survivor is trans! well, we'll just never add another trans survivor".
28 -
Theyre called Behaviour because dbd is a psyop funded by the Canadian government /s
11 -
Oh you don't have to worry about that.
They are more likely to send out a survey to try and figure out why instead.
6 -
The problem is the other side - if you finished all available quests you don´t gain any rift progress.
I hope we understand this wrong - this would be horrible :-(
And some people don´t use or want Twitch.
6 -
DbD was always exploitative, now they're kicking it into overdrive.
9 -
Yeah the more I think about it, this update is definitely up there for worst patch in the games history. It would of 100% been it if haste and hindered stacking wasnt reverted
24 -
And even then i don't see where the other 17 levels are coming from. I guess milestone challenges? But those i'd imagine run out at some point right?
(Edited because I didn't realize how Milestone rewards worked!) The Milestones say "Step X of 10" so presumably there are 70 Milestone Quests in total. Each one provides an increasing +10 in Rift Fragments so I think that's 3850 Rift Fragments total or 38 and a half Rift levels, about as much as the Dailies are contributing. It is getting past 100, but you still need to get a good chunk of those Dailies done, and actually doing every Milestone seems very unlikely for the majority of players, so it'll probably be something like half your Dailies you need to clear to reach 100 in the Rift Levels.
Besides the concern of Dailies being mandatory, there's another important reason these Quests should be comfortably breaking past 100 Rift levels when tallying them all up: People who mostly play one role. Trust me, you do not want me queuing up to play Survivor every week, I invent new ways to choke every match.

The old new UI was pretty horrid, and I don't think anything can ever top Resident Evil. I still don't use exhaustion perks to this day because of the abuse I suffered on last gen consoles

This kind of stuff has become beyond frustrating. BHVR is spending time and effort “fixing” things that aren’t broken, while ignoring things that are broken or that people have been asking to fix/improve for a long time. If I felt like BHVR was really prioritizing community input in their decisions, I might actually spend some money on the game to support it. But I haven’t felt that way in a long time, and the recent changes just reinforce my position even more.
19 -
Yeah, it's really going to depend on a few factors if this new system is good or bad.
Right now it's 375 for the weekly, 45 for doing all the daily and 550 if you fully complete a milestone. Assuming the numbers all stay he same then then we get a total of 4500 weekly, 3735 daily, and 3850 for the milestone which is 12085, so ~121 levels with the new rift cap being 100 levels to get everything.
We'll also get some extra fragments with any events they have. However, this really isn't great as this assumes you do everything which I don't think most people will. Another issue is at least from my short testing, I was only getting 5 fragments per completed match. This means it'll take around 20 matches to get 1 level, probably far less as I image my 5 fragments was a low xp roll and I didn't do a lot of testing with that. Now if the weekly challenges get a higher fragment count as they go or even more challenges per week then this won't be all that bad and we'll have some leeway. If it stays exactly how it is then it might be rough if people skip out on the daily challenges or people come into the tome late.

One of the challenges had a reward of 10 Iri Shards.
On one hand, good on BHVR for making Shards a quest reward.
On the other hand… 10? 10 Shards? That's like offering a starving man a dime.
16 -
I assume this is a bug. When you hover over the Rift Fragment symbol it clearly says that they are earned by gaining XP as well as completing quests
6 -
I also hate that, however we can assume that events will still have their own set of rift challenges, so maybe logging in daily isn't required if that is the case.
1 -
Good thing this experiment rift is full of throwaway trash cosmetics anyway. Not a single thing id equip over any of the characters
2 -
I miss the old daily missions. You used to get 30,000 BP in a single match.
The new daily missions are really underwhelming.
They're easier now, but they give much less BP, so they don’t feel rewarding.
You can get Fragments elsewhere anyway, so they don’t really need to be part of the daily rewards.2 -
would be nice to get some proper clarification from BHVR if we do still get rift fragments from just playing normally after dailies have been done
6 -
Had a survivor match yesterday without any quests done (I'm terrible). The Number of Rift Points I had went up from 60→65.
I also checked today and there were three new dailies for me to do (for a total of 45). So you get like… 50 Rift Points if you do them all in one go?
5 -
But it could also be that they forgot to change the tool tip.
Or they changed it in a way that you only get fragments if you level up, similar to shards.
5 -
We know there's going to be a 2v8 set of challenges to come for this rift (as they showed it in the PTB), so the fragments you'd earn from those would also cut this down. This is not including any other 'event' challenges they may add to the game over the next 12 weeks.
I think this is more of a 'wait and see' situation - but it's a fair worry. If they have genuinely made it much grindier than it was before then they should re-evaluate. One of the great things about previous rifts was how chill they were to complete.
7 -
After you finish the dailies, you still have milestone quests that can be completed.
-3 -
I wanna know how Events and other things factor in too. People are right to be skeptical of BHVR, but we gonna wait and see.
0 -
We have officially entered late stage DBD. It's all downhill from here.
15 -
I feel like all this could be solved with a simple thing to add:
Master Challenges
The same thing that made the old Tomes unique (killer/survivor/perk specific challenges, Memory Shards, Glyphs, ect.)
4 -
I personally enjoy the more casual nature of the new quest system but I am disappointed they made the Rift grindier to compensate. It's like they're being stingy with rift fragments now and making it take more to do anything, which is deeply frustrating. I work a 9-5, I don't have time to play every day or every other day. The least they could do is make us gain more fragments per round, I could take or leave the dailies. It is nice so many of them give shards, though it should be MORE shards than this.
8 -
I didn’t notice anyone saying this, but you also get rift fragments from levelling up. 5 levels are a rift level and you level up pretty quickly.
3 -
- even though DBD is our favorite videogame, we must not forget that BHVR is a company, not a charity, so it is normal that they push users to play as much as possible. all videogames do this (the most important example is Fortnite), I don't understand why BHVR shouldn't do the same. It is obvious that our experience as consumers is important, but we must also understand the needs of a company that is trying to make a profit
-25 -
We also have no idea how many fragments will be given away during events, or whether the Fragment Frenzy bonus will come back (obviously it would be adjusted). It's literally the first week, things could still change, sorry you couldn't get to level 20 within a single day….
-12 -
PRETTY GOOD JOB SO FAR!
4 -
I thought this system was supposed to be an upgrade… I quite literally cannot log in everyday and play, a lot of people can't. I have uni and will not be able to keep up with this system if they keep it this way… sad. Guess it just means I'll skip out on buying the rifts from now on as I won't be able to complete them anyways.
8 -
mhm. Well. Yeah. I suppose yet another reason to not play anymore. Like, them Rift cosmetics were one of the few things left that made me log in every now and again to get through the rift - and with the event tomes and regular match progress counting toward Rift progress, I never had trouble clearing the rift (even when I only played on a handful of days a month - or didn't play for a month or two at all).
Ah well. I suppose it's another step into the direction of unethical business practises that exploit the most vulnerable (the first one being the seasonal fomo cosmetics; for the vast majority of players that's not an issue - but it is an issue for those with a predisposition for addiction or manipulation and that are proven to be considered the golden geese and main target group of, e.g. highly unethical gacha-games and fomo-tactics). Tbh, I'm sorry for the bhvr dev team / the parts of the dev team that have little to do with the markgeting and business aspects. - It's, I suppose, a result of that company that used to produce mobile DBD, having bought parts of bhvr iirc.
1 -
Yeah… i've got other games to dedicate my limited time too. If BHVR want to make the game a daily chore then I will no longer be playing or buying anything as DbD won't be the game I choose to play over the others.
Making the game feel like a job or tick box simulator for the sake of engagement is the fastest way to kill your game. I was able to spread my playtime and still enjoy the game and do the rifts with time to spare, but no longer i guess.
Looks like time to uninstall and play other things instead as i've lost my desire to touch the game with this update.
They probably won't but i hope BHVR learn that this type of exploitative, unethical stuff is NOT what we want. They had a great system going and have begun to ruin it and i will no longer support them.
7 -
A massively more exploitative system that NOBODY asked for right before all the FNAF kids arrive?
Oh yeah, it's all coming together.
20 -
Agreed. The thing I'm most worried about is people coming in halfway. When FNAF releases and brings in new people, they might not be able to complete it at all because they missed out on the daily and 2v8 challenges (depending on when that releases).
I'm really hoping the amount we get increases by 5 per week. So next week will be 80 fragments a challenge and the week after 85 and so on. If this is the case then we'd have a total of 6150 weekly fragments. Combined with the total milestone of 3850 and you'd have a perfect 10000.
If this is how the system works then you'd never have to do a single daily and would be far friendlier to people. Considering how perfect the math lines up I'm really hoping this is the case.4 -
There is no escaping the Battle Bus.

Behavior care about profit first and foremost over the health and player base of the game, and yet they are now actively discouraging people from buying the pass with their trademark bad decisions :/
3 -
I'm sitting at 4/12 Rift Pass Quests after Week 1 on the right side breakout. But on the Rift Pass summary on the Left with the time remaining it says 5/9.
"Complete 3 Quest(s) This Week" not count as one or did it?!

The quest system is amazing, the problem is the changes to Rift Fragments.
When I first saw that you needed 100 Fragments for a Tier now instead of 10, I was a little put off, but I figured the quests were maybe going to reward so much more that it would make up for it (the first game I played completed a ton of quests and gave me a false impression).
As it is, with 100 Fragments needed per Tier, the speed is so slow it's completely demoralizing.6
