Springtraps weapon
Am i the only one dissapointed with springtraps weapon being a knife? I was really hoping for a fire axe since we have so many killers already that wield a knife. I hope that atleast bhvr will make it a weapon skin or smt like that.

His knife is HUGE. At least its unique like that. But also his base skin could feature an axe woth a different attack recovery animation. All we saw was the matthew lilard skin in game, not the base model

Unknown already has a fire axe, plus Springtrap using an axe is something William Afton only used to dismantle the animatronics. It's purely fan made to see him using the axe as Springtrap while in the movie and mini games he does use a knife. Simply put, its cannon for him to use a knife and not an axe.

True, but would they even bother with it? I mean i dont think they did anything like it with another killer. There weapons always stayed the same.

Yea i know that, but still, i think it would be cooler to have a giant f*cking axe.

Honestly, I think the knife works better.
Within the games we are not really given an exact murder weapon but a knife just makes more sense to the character. One of the incidents hinted to in-game was a murder that took place while William was drunk, using a kitchen knife would make more sense to that, it makes it seem poorly thought out and sloppy compared to using other weapons. Also since the games take place in a pizzeria, grabbing a knife from the kitchen also works out well.
Keep in mind that this Chapter is focused HEAVILY on keeping it accurate to the movie AND games. This is meant to be oriented towards the FNAF community, and from what Ive seen, the FNAF community has loved what they have seen just because it leans more towards the actual lore of the game. The "fire axe" thing was a community concept for a weapon based on the fact that the facility Springtrap is in burns down but other than that it had literally no grounds to really be a thing; which is what more people have liked the fact that they have a knife instead.

The knife is disappointing. I was sort of hoping he'd be a punching brute like Nemesis

it makes sense William Afton was a serial killer and the knife fits perfectly.
plus he used it in the movies too3 -
I honestly preferred the idea of him throwing hands as is implied in FNAF 3 over the axe or knife, but I'm glad they went with the latter instead. The axe I always saw brought up cause of that FNAF concept chapter and to me it would've felt like an Mcu, "I understood that reference" moment. Like the concept chapter I think gave him an axe based off the FNAF 3 Living Tombstone music video? I can't deny it would've worked, but I honestly really disliked how many people said it should've factored into his power or was necessary for him to have.
The knife feels a bit off with the general aesthetic of the character imo, but It's in the movie so I can't really argue with it's inclusion. I like the detail that Lillard Afton is both undecayed and human, but still dead and spring locked beneath the costume. It's an interesting mesh of FNAF's way of clinging to life after death and the Entities ability to reanimate the dead.
The knife now being tied to Game Springtrap as well as the movie version kinda has disturbing implications for the MCI.

In a interview with Matt Springtrap will be a multi power killer like Dracula

Dredge's weapon changes in all of his outfits. The doll cosmetic has a unique attack recovery

Hopefully not like Dracula or Vecna. I mean that in the sense of having multiple powers and being a master of none. I really hope it just means multiple new mechanics and now outright separate abilities that are weak.

Hate to break it to ya but it was confirmed to be the case

Damn i guess i am the only one lol, tho i would rather have him not have a weapon than have a knife.

His huge kitchen knife looks scarier to me than a fire axe would.
Also, i think it appeases most fnaf fans because the idea of fire axe was actually mostly disliked in concepts because he's never used one in the series before. He HAS used a knife.
Beforehand i thought it wouldn't really work because he has somewhat limited movement however the knife so big does make that easier.
Overall i think it works.2 -
Saw someone suggest he should punch them and the cool down animation is his hand breaking and then spring locking back into place. And honestly that sounds so much cooler.
They probably gave him a knife so that they can change it with different skins easier. The Matthew Lillard skin for example would look goofy punching things and would take more effort to completely change all of his animations. And if they plan on giving him other animatronics as skins, then it’s much easier to just give them all different weapons.
A knife is also very easy to find in a pizza place unlike an axe is so it’s kind of fitting.

Funnily enough the killer that has a fire axe already (Unknown) also has hedge clippers, a broken glass bottle, a wrench, and a different type of axe as skins. Also Myers has a pipe.
It really just depends on what they did for the basic attack cooldown animation. That's the main reason why Unknown and a few others get to have more creative freedom with regards to weapons; they don't have the blood wipe thing going on.
