Is BHVR doing an MMR test ?

The past two weeks has been awful, I may have 6000 hours in this game but I am slap bang in the middle average, I’m am older guy with bad eyesight but the players I’m getting matched with lately are just completely wrecking me, as survivor the killer just wrecks me every game I’m tunnelled out constantly because I’m not good in chase I haven’t escaped in over 20 matches, as killer it’s even worse the level of skill these survivors are showing is beyond anything I’ve ever played against pixel perfect looping just perfectly tight around every loop, what the F am I being matched against players who are so above my skill level ? Does the game think I’m good because of my play time ? I’m not this good. I love this game but ######### !! Is going on lately ? Every game is an absolute sweat fest ? I can loop for 40+ seconds and that’s it, as killer I’m lucky to land a single hit ? Why on earth am I of all people in this MMR bracket ? Maybe 5* years ago I was good but not anymore as my eyes have gotten so much worse.

    Matchmaking has never worked in this game since SBMM was launched. It’s bad on both survivor and killer side, but seems especially bad on survivor side for me. I’ll escape a bunch of matches and then next few lobbies get paired with literal brand new players (and no it’s not due to lobby backfill). Or I will lose a bunch in a row and then get matched with great teammates. It’s just completely random. On the killer side, I will say the quality of my opponents is more consistent, but I’ll still see lobbies swing from god-like teams to complete potatoes at random.

    It has not worked properly since around 2020, before SBMM. First it was the "rainbow ranks" issue, and then it got amplified when SBMM launched.
    These days, I have had a much more balanced matchmaking, where I have not been put up against the most sweaty killers when playing survivor, or 4-stacks when playing as the killer.
    Most of my games has been pretty enjoyable. However, I have noticed whenever the lobby gets backfilled (i.e. killer has left the lobby and is replaced with another), it tends to get extremely one-sided.
