Is Premonition worth using? If not, what could be buffed about it?

Title. Thought about using it.

Point in the killer's direction upon activating the perk, and all survivors see the killers aura for 3 seconds

If I may ask I made a Psychic Build to be lore accurate for one of my characters. I have Premonition, Clairvoyance, Alert and Empathetic Connection. Are there other psychic perks?

potential energy because you can transfer energy, ya know like “transmutation” Anything healing really if you rping like a “healer” depends on how liberal you are when using the term psychic. Bond because it’s a “link”

If they reduce the range (to make it more accurate in your need) and reduce the cooldown it could be decent perk to counter stealth killers and builds.

There's two ideas I have that could make premonition better.

1: Reduce cooldown to 20/15/10 seconds but it pauses during a chase.
2: The Killer's Aura gets revealed to you for 3/3/3 seconds when activated.

Right now it's usage is pretty limiting.
But if I had to REWORK it.

    (New) Premonition

Whenever a survivor is on the hook, this perk activates.
The Killer's Aura occasionally shows to you every 10 seconds for 1/1.5/2 seconds.
This perk then deactivates when there is no hooked survivors.

I haven't used premonition in a while, but I do occasionally get an urge to put it in a build. If you're in a position where you can prerun and feel you need to, you can often know the killer's coming before they have a chance to set up.

If you're up for it, swivel your camera back and forth between any directions you think the killer might approach from when you're on a gen.

As someone else mentioned, it's a giant nerf against stealth killers or abilities that make you oblivious to the terror radius. It's also pretty strong when your teammates hook stage is about to run up. Premonition will tell you if a killer's nearby. Similar stuff with exit gates. Basically, it lets you take actions or make plans before you would normally have a way of being sure you need to.

I do find Bond to be vastly stronger though, since it lets me do stealth protection for my teammates, avoid gens getting worked, and even watch where the chase is and how it's going. But as someone else said, Premonition is actually stronger than people think. Imagine if you had an extra few seconds warning before dealing with the killer all the time.

Premonition is one of those perks that I really dont know how to feel about it. I dont want it to be reworked entirely, since I think it remains as one of the most unique perks in the game.

My solution? Decrease the angle required to proc the effect and add a visual indicator (a vignette and/or some Scratch Marks at the edge of the screen) that provides a better visual indicator for those with hearing problems.

With my lore accurate builds I have been assigning to my characters, I have REALLY enjoyed Premonition. It has saved my butt more times than I can count. Underated perk for sure.

My favorite perk long forgoten, definitely needs some buffs and love. It was worth running in first 3 years of the game then it has fall into fog.

Yeah, I don't really know how I would change the perk other than attach aura reading onto the perk, rather than the sound audio cue it does.

Spine Chill (even though I loved the perk to pieces years ago) shared the same area with Premonition for a while. If Premonition showed the aura, lets say - I move my camera to the killer, it shows the aura for x seconds, I'd most definitely use it more, especially with Eyes of Belmont but otherwise it is a perk I do not care to use as I prefer aura based, rather than audio cues for perks.

Edit: it would compete with Object of Obsession but instead of outright aura reading that Object does when a killer aura reads you, it only shows the aura if you look at the killer. I don't think the perk would be overpowered, but otherwise it will not be a perk that I select myself. I think a lot of the perks like Premonition or even Small Game should not depend on audio cues to make the game more accessible - but that's just me. I don't use either perk as Small Game (I've memorized totems and the sound cues are annoying), while Premonition is the same - just a sound cue and the perk goes off - I'd rather have something more viable and versatile and that's why Premonition isn't used often.

To me, it's hard to get good information from it. There's the luck of needing to look in the right direction for it to pop, which is best done by turning your camera to different directions, and at the right time, and that's if the perk isn't on cooldown. If the killer is not Undetectable, you can hear them coming from 32 meters away, which just 4 meters shorter than Premonition detects, so you'll hear them anyway. If the killer is Undetectable, you could get the notification when they're coming straight to you, or to someone else, or they only went into its range for like a second and are now going the other way. There's just too much speculation you have to do with this perk compared to Spine Chill, because it does basically the same thing but isn't on a cooldown and doesn't require you to look in a direction.

Are you going off how the perk is described? Because lots of aura read could be psychic, but are conceptually something else.

Like Alert seems to be more symbolic of the character's incredible powers of perception, more than a psychic ability.

Still Sight and Object of Obsession seem to be meant to be psychic links, though the 'bond' created by Object might be a psychic bond and not a psychic power depending on what you are looking for.

Its very unique, and I wouldn't want to just make it an aura perk....

However it's big problem is that even if you detect the killer, and the killer is slow moving enough to effectively leave... you still don't know which way the killer is going because you only got a vague direction indicator a single time.

I might suggest a 2 tiered warning system where:

    • When the killer first moves 36 metres of you, get a directional auditory warning and Premonition activates for 10 seconds.
    • Once activated receive an auditory warning when you look in the direction of the Killer within a 15°(was 45°) cone and at a maximum range of 36 metres, and Premontion deactivates.
    • Premontion goes on cooldown for 60/45/30 seconds.

This would then at least work passively and let you have some idea which way to run.

I would not reveal the aura

I would hide scratch marks for 5 seconds when it activates, and add hide aura as well since Distortion is trash now

Yeah I was more or less going off of descriptions and titles, taking into account also what the perk does :)

I like using this in my lore accruate Ripley / Rain builds as a motion tracker since it kinda works like the ones in the Alien films. As others have mentioned, it's good at countering stealth killers and perks.

There are probably more impactful perks to run, unless you're stuck in rock bottom Survivor MMR where all the stealth Killers hang out. But it's solid and good at what it does. Not sure it really needs a buff. Maybe a slight cooldown reduction?
