Learning Artist <3 - Question
Would it be too crazy if the birds could be aimed up or down depending on which floor you level you are on?
I struggle on dual floors.

Yeah, two floor maps are awful for her.
I feel like making the birds go up and down floors would end up really finnicky, I already sigh every time a bird decides to launch itself from a hill.

Wait that happens? It will launch itself?
Sidenote - Willing to take any artist tips. I am enjoying her. I just bought the Miss Fuchi Outfit :)

If you aim a crow at a hill and launch it, it will go up the hill and stay on the height of it. This also works up and down stairs.
It ends up hurting you more than helping, imo, since there aren't many places where you can really use that feature.
But, I guess I worded it a bit weirdly: Crows don't launch by themsleves, you have to be the one to command them to do it.

To be fair though, its satisfying getting a double tap down the basement stairs

Maps with changing elevations hurts her power not much you can do other than try to be on the same level. Swamp map to me feels like her worst map since the elevation is all over the place.
BBQ and Dead Man's Switch (think that's what it was called) her 2 best perks for sniping across map. With Black Ink add on to make her birds not highlight themselves while in flight.

If the stars align you can get some crazy shots though 😁

her birds should be adjustable on the vertical axis for aiming purposes, yes.

As someone who used to play her a lot in the past, I agree 100%
She gets hard-countered by any sort of verticality.3 -
agreed, it will make her a little stronger, but I would argue it’s something she should of always been able to do. It doesn’t make any real sense to limit them to the horizontal axis.
I wouldn’t even call it a buff, just a QoL for her. I’ve played artist like once, so I don’t really have anything to gain from my opinion, it’s just an observation from facing against artist.I think it would make her “feel” better and improve User Experience using her. I love her concept though, and definitely own the dbd artist hoodie because she looks cool af.

Thank you so much. Reading it now :D

No, this would be an unhealthy buff. I main Artist since release, so I can tell she is overall in a great spot and just needs some QoL tweaks (e.g. faster charging speed, Severed Toungh half basekit), an Addon update, and changes to lockers. Otherwise, she does not need any changes or big buffs.
dual floors are difficult for her but you can use them to your advantage: You can snipe survivors on the Pale Rose ship from the killer shack which is really strong and will hit survivors off guard. There are also nice tricks on The Game map on the stairs . You should also never forget that the birds have a big hitbox in lenth and Height! For example; You can also hit survivors on the Gallows (Saloon map), when you put your birds on the shack because the shack is a bit higher than the ground - otherwise it's just killer instinct. You can also put birds on some obstacles to hit survivors in a mainbuilding. Forgotton Ruins is also a strong Artist map despite the elevations. These and many more tricks come with experience I really like it because it is skill expression and gives you a skillful feeling when you understand the hitbox of your birds and how to use them right. If you could aim your birds up and down, it would take a lot of this skill expression. It would also feel awkward on the survivor side and probably not healthy for them.

Thank you for all the helpful tips everyone! Any recommended builds you could suggest for a beginner on artist?

Dead Man Switch is her best perk, and perks like Surveilance or Tinkerer allow you to really harass people on gens. Iron Maiden is good for making lockers unviable for survivors (and making survivors that locker jump in your face DC), and for the fourth perk I would recommend some slowdown. Or, if DMS seems enough, Nurse's Calling.

Oh nice! I might do DeadMans, Surv, Oppression and Iron Maiden.

Aura reading on Artist is important, as her power allows you to target Survivors from a distance. So perks like Barbecue & Chili (The Cannibal) can come in very handy. I'm All Ears (The Ghost Face) and Zanshin Tactics (The Oni) are both solid picks too, as they give you something to aim for while in chase.
If you're focusing on Scourge Hooks, consider pairing Pain Resonance with Floods of Rage (The Onryo). Generally speaking, two aura/information perks and two gen defense perks (wether that's gen regression or gen blocking is up to you) is all you need. For example:Now, if during your time in The Fog you come across one too many Lithe, Dead Hard or Balanced Landing users 🤭:
What I did here was sacrifice one gen defense perk in exchange for something that inflicts Exhausted, which pairs well with her now blue add-on 'O Grief 'O Lover, which inflicts Survivors with Exhausted while they're swarmed. If you damage them while they're swarmed their Exhaustion doesn't go away, since Genetic Limits takes over. I've caught a few would-be Lithers that way ^^.

Yeah, Merciless can be really good on her.
Well done!

Thank you my friend 👏

I never play Artist, but when I do, I like using that as an excuse to bust out Zanshin Tactics. My brain is working overtime with bird angles that I don't want to devote any brain power towards vaults and pallets
4 -
That's fair. You could almost argue that players should be able to see pallet and window locations as a setting you can turn on and off. I'm sure that would be illegal in tournaments, but whatever. I just hate people's brains working overtime for nothing, like killers not being able to see who they've hooked how many times.
