Are people happy with where Freddy is at?
If I'm being honest, I feel like his rework is kind of stupid. His power has very little counterplay once you're "asleep," and I feel as though the hinder effect is too much, like just for landing a red blob blood pool thing. It makes his downs feel cheap. IDK. I'm just saying that I personally don't like it and think it could've been much better. I think BHVR should also avoid using giant blobs as explosives. Indoor maps are usually GG. I'm happy he can teleport to stuff that's great, but overall, his power feels kind of cheap to me. I wish his pallets weren't so spammy, too.
Thoughts? I'm curious.

Freddy is fine, not every killer needs to be S tier and Freddy is in a good place at this point. In my opinion of course

he's fine now. Seems a bit oppressive in chase when you are asleep, but since waking up is so quick and easy to do, he is okay.

I think his new teleport to sleeping targets who are healing is (teehee) being slept on, it adds extra steps to recovering against him especially for those who rely on being healed by others after being unhooked, all of his new options give him really good map control (teleporting to completed gens and exit gates).
Over all I think he is in a much better place.-2 -
I think Freddy himself is okay. The thing that holds him back are clocks. The respawn timer is kinda insane, you can use the clock, sit on a gen and clock will be back faster than you falling asleep. That combined with there being 5 of them and the sleep immunity durations are the real issues that should be looked at.

I think he's probably in the best spot we can ask for, love it or hate it; he is strong with built in strong counterplay. I doubt we'll see a better iteration for both sides than we do now
I like him

Pre-drop against freddy if you are asleep. You do this because his hindered isn't enough to catch you on most pallet loops if it's dropped and your vault speed isn't affected. If you let him get possession of the pallet, he'll often snare and hit you.
I think he's a fine killer for the most part although Dream Pallets are horribly clunky to use, i am often rupturing the wrong pallet or placing one instead of rupturing the one that's closer.
I also think he's far too quiet, it's hard to play against.-2 -
He’s weak imo. Way too easy to wake up and turn off his power completely.
-3 -
Strength-wise he is fine. Not a big fan of him being able to teleport to healing Survivors, but it is what it is.
He is super-boring tho. Both to play as and to play against.

never seen him. he's always been a noob stomper tho

Don‘t like playing against him. It’s just unfun. Hate killers with hindered and his explosions are annoying.

He has something resembling a power now, so at least there's that. Any hope there was for Robert England is gone and that kinda sucks the fun outta things, but tbf it was always a pipedream.
To play against he can feel oppressive, but it's also easy sometimes to get to a clock and make it feel like Sharp Hand Joe never left. Playing him at least now feels like there's a lot you can do that other killers usually wouldn't, and sleep was made a status that actually feels unique to have and face.
Overall, they changed an f tier release into a C- tier character imo. A poor fate for a legend, but it's at least better than he was before, however low that bar may be.

I'm a P100 Freddy main. I love playing as and against him.
On a side note, I was playing 2v8 as Survivor yesterday and thought you were in my lobby because one of the survivors' gamer tags was so similar to your name here in the forums.
I spent the match trying to save the Sable that I thought was you only to look closer at the player name post-match and realize that I read the name wrong 😔
After that disappointment, I now find out you don't like my Killer.
Damn...

I main Freddy and while I was not a fan of the new Dream Pallets at first, I'm great with them now. I actually love them.
My favorite thing is sniping a survivor with one when they don't see me but I see them.
The best example is standing on the back balcony of main building on Ormond with Pallets placed in front of me.
He was my main before the rework too.
For clarity, what do you mean by "spammy" when you referred to the pallets?

against average survivors he is haaaaaaard to deal with lol
while he is m1 he also has lots of stuff going on
id say he is A tier on average-low mmr.

Yes, that is pretty much it. Though I don't dislike the idea of teleporting to healing survivors.
But you nailed it when you said he is boring, my friend. That definitely remains my problem with him, and it is pretty much the reason why I have not played DBD in months. I feel like I might have stopped posting abruptly, but if I may address it properly now that I'm back:
Overall, I feel like the Freddy changes went in the wrong direction. Obviously no one can deny that Freddy needed changes, this is pretty much undeniable for anyone who played as Freddy or against Freddy from 2021 to 2025. I don't think he was the weakest killer in the game, but he couldn't be left the way he was.
However, the changes made to him failed to help him with the fact that Freddy was in a boring, uninteresting state with nothing unique on his kit, and he had been in that state since July of 2019, a fall from grace when we remember he was once the most unique killer in the game. That was the primary concern, or at least it should have been, and the rework didn't fix it, it just replaced the uninspired aspects of his kit with different but still uninspired aspects, which just happens to be based on other killers than the previous.
I'm happy for the new and remaining Freddy mains out there who are enjoying his current state and having fun with him. Freddy mains deserve the best, they always have. But unless there is another major rework or a "DBD classic 2017 / 2018" event, I just don't see myself playing Freddy ever again.

I think about you often, my friend. I am glad you're still here in the forums 🙏

I was falling asleep playing as him in the PTB. It's probably the same now.

I mean, this is just my opinion. And you have a different one. Which is fine, there will be Killers which you hate to play as or against and those might be some of my favorite Killers to play.
But the thing is - his strength IS fine. He has a high Killrate according to nightlight and it is not because people dont know how to play against him. Because he is pretty simple to understand, he does not have a bloated Kit and while some people might say he is a Noobstomper, even to be a Noobstomper the Killer has to be some form of strength. But his pickrate is clearly below average and if his strength is good, this can only mean that he is not as much fun to play.
And I am honest - I am personally also kind of fed up with Freddy. The rework back then was probably one of the worst things which could happen, since it made Freddy very boring and back then also insufferable to play against due to his Slowdown and ability to tunnel (because back then he could ignore BT). And I had quite high hope for their latest changes to him. I did not expect that they will completely go back to the original design (even tho, in retrospect I think the original design could have been saved with Tweaks and some power additions), but for me it was underwhelming.
While Freddy never was my favorite Killer, I found his initial design very unique and he is after all one of the biggest Horror Icons we have in the game. So I guess my perception of him is just overly negative due to the history around him and him being a Horror Icon.
To the other part - nah, I am currently mainly playing Orela to get her to P9 (which is "maxed out" for me). And I barely play 2v8, not a big fan of the gamemode. 😅

Speaking to the low pick rate...
Most of the people that I know refuse to play him, or take a match against him seriously because of his lore. If anyone has watched the movies, and you know why he's krispy????? That's why.

Thats the first time I hear this.

Thank you so much for the kind words, my dear friend!
It is good to see you again!
Still hard to believe it happened to me twice, with the same character.
Being a Freddy main in particular was genuinely not a good choice. But I truly love the character, so what could I do?

Tp to healing survivors was a weird choice what if we changed it to tp to healthy sleeping survivors it could be a healthy change and lore accurate

I mean killer dontwant survivour to have founterplay anymore people here still asking to GOJ nerf like come on babes playing killer ant that hard

Personally like where hes at currently.
Punishing if you dont interact with clocks correctly, and has sensible traversal cooldowns. Good changes all around0 -
It’s so good to see you again generalV 💯❤️ I have missed you!

The current Freddy still isn't like the character of Freddy Kruger is gameplay wise and somehow, at least for me, has more boring gameplay than the last version. Shooting a projectile which is basically a 50/50 for an unimpactful hinder is uninspired and not interesting at all, not to mention the stripping of elements like stealth, because clocks are so available and old pallets are lost. I was really hoping for a modernized version of the original release (basically just improved dream transition with a creative chase power) so we could have a version that feels like Freddy back in the game. The current power could be redone for any original and no one would know it was supposed to be a power for Freddy. Balance wise I think he will need buffs once people figure out the counterplay.
