Will the older characters ever get voicelines? Should they even get voicelines?
I've been wondering for a litle while if the older characters, especially the survivors, are ever gonna get voicelines. I really like the survivor voicelines, especially Orela's (her voice actress did an amazing job) and it made me think about how cool it would be if the older survivors also got voicelines.
I feel like there's a very clear line between older and newer survivors and in my opinion that's wthether or not they have voicelines. It's quite jarring to me to go from playign Orella to David for example. When I play as the older survivors now I feel like something is missing and it's voicelines. I know not everyone enjoys voicelines, but to me they add a lot to a character and are a good way of showing off their personality. Whuch is why I wanted to ask if they are ever gonna get voicelines.
I also think a lot of the older killers would also benefit from voicelines. For me the killer that would benefit the most from having voiceliens would eb the legion. It would so cool if every member of the Legion had a unique voice with unique voicelines.
I'm not saying that every character should or can get voicelines. I know that it's probably impossibel for the licensed characters to get voicelines now, but it would still be cool if the dbd original characters get them. I do also think that it would be better if some killers don't get voicelines, but I think there's also multiple characters that would really benefit from getting voicelines (please give the legion voicelines behaviour, I'm begging).
I do understand that some people don't like voicelines, but maybe behaviour could add a toggle for them.
I would love to hear which characters people really want voicelines for! I erally want voicelines for David, Haddie and Legion!

I love voice lines if it's appropriate for the character.

Of course they should ! Equal rights for all. I'm a big fan of ingamevoicelines 😉

Personally I think the best way to handle this would be to steadily add voicelines to more older characters, but also make them toggleable for all characters, since I know some people get annoyed by the voicelines we already have and avoid those characters because of it.

Eh.
The voicelines can get annoying fast, and break the very little immersion there is, so I'd rather not waste time on them.

Voice lines done right can add to the immersion though.
Using a killer like Trickster for example, his laugh and taunts add a lot to his character because of how much of an expressive character he is. Wesker and Dracula who are a bit more dramatic are also characters who I think are done right.
The only reason why Survivors seem a bit out of play is because only a handful of them have voice lines. If it was made universal Im sure it would add to the experience, assuming its done right.
EDIT: And done right would mean the characters speaking their native languages.

Yes, I agree, friend.

I would love to hear Dweet talk. But only if they get the OG voice actor back.

James Sunderland just got a new voice actor that isn’t a lunatic so I say now is the best time to give James voicelines while also making it feel serviceable for SH fans in dbd

I completely agree!

The voicelines are overrated, I've grown tired of them. It was one thing when they were for licensed characters, and some like Nic Cage and Alan Wake and Chucky have very good voicework put into their characters that excellently capture their personalities from their source material, but everyone else feels more like misses than hits. I'm fine without, we don't need to add them to old characters.

Drat, beat me to it. Seconded and well said sir 🤘😁🤘

I really hope not, I hope they limit any voicelines to the lobby for your character only. They are just annoying in game as they are only very limited so the same ones are repeated, which gets annoying real fast.
They don't need them and I sure don't want them.

The problem with adding voicelines to old characters is that it would cost money to do so, but they wouldn't make any money. New characters can have voicelines added alongside them, but old characters… especially Meg, Dwight, etc… There is just no money to be made in doing so, and that means spending the money to do so is not justified.

IDK but Ghostface not having voicelines at all is a crime. :(

Make it like Tekken where everyone speaks in their own language too xD

Agreed! Trickster's voice lines add a lot of life to his character, even more so since they're in his native language too. I had no idea he swore at survivors who'd stun him or wiggle free until I turned on subtitles, adds more to the immersion while playing as him.
I think Wesker and Dracula are also done well, even though Wesker's lines can get on my nerves after a while (though this is usually after facing him for several games in a row).
Wesker's lines are the kind of lines he says that he thinks make him sound cool and intimidating, but are actually so cheesy that they shoot the moon and circle back around to being intimidating (if that makes sense).
While Dracula's lines are over the top melodramatic and pathetic all rolled into one, that, much like Wesker, shoot the moon and come back and end up sounding badass and intimidating.

True!! He could have some absolutely amazing onces

I used to look forward to getting some characters, I won't name.. But when I heard their voice lines, it completely took away my will to play them. There really does need to be a way to turn them off. As for bringing voices to the old characters, I think there will be a lot more people like me who have their old perceptions of a character changed when the voice doesn't match what they imagined. The potential is greater to do more harm than good. But that's just me..

I want both, I'd love to hear the old characters get voice lines, so it could sound like our survivors interact within trials (I'd love to hear David cussing our Lara if she blows up a gen), but I would also like those who don't want it to just toggle them all off.
