Where has the the theme gone?
I don't post often. You can tell this. But today's livestream disappointed me.
Part of that was a Five Nights fan, I was disappointed with Springtrap. I really was expecting him to be a haunting killer, without a terror radius, but one you could hear when he moved with non-directional loud, clanking feet. Maybe he'll grow on me, I'm not sure. I haven't played him yet (don't worry, I will).
But the biggest disappointment I had was with the rebranding of the outreach program. When I joined the game, DBD absolutely *dripped* its Call of Cthulu-esque horror style. It didn't have "content creators", it had "Fog Whisperers". DBD didn't have a content pass, it had the archive. And perhaps most importantly, it didn't have a grindy battle pass, it had The Rift. That is all gone now.
All of those things have been dumbed down and genericized. We have even lost the lore elements of the tomes. It's really started to hurt my enjoyment of the game itself. I never thought I'd miss hunting for glyphs, or trying to sneak mirrors into the basement, but here I am.
I want to know more about the Red Crane (is she visiting Assassin's Creed too?), I want to know what happened to the Archivist, or even to King Dwight. I want to know more about these survivors and killers, more than the paragraphs of lore they get in their bios.
But it's all gone.
Please bring it back.
(PS: The Reddit moderators are so jumpy that this, as far as I can tell, respectful post was nuked within a minute.)
