How did people feel about the previous Lights Out event?
I first experienced the Lights Out event when the Castlevania chapter was released, and it was probably the most fun I've had in the game ever. But I'm curious about how everyone else felt about the event since I've seen some conflicting opinions.
I know personally, I loved the fact that it was pitch dark with no perks (that affected killers as well), with the only sucky thing about it maybe being going against Dracula? Since he could find people almost immediately in the dark. I kind of wish we had more modes that were similar, as I know I would play solely that mode.

The candelabras made it awesome. The bats in the darkness were also a really nice touch. I hope Lights Out 2.0 returns.
(From what I've seen on the forums, I'm in the severe minority with this opinion.)

RIGHT? I loved having the option to use the candelabras, but most of the time I would just skulk around in the dark and sneak around

Same here. I used the candelabras for marking exit gates or showing my teammates where I was on the map, or I'd put them down behind rocks to make the killer think someone was back there hiding. Good times.

I liked the idea of the game mode, but ive found lights out events (both of them) to be some of the most annoying games ive ever played as survivor due to proxy camping ghost faces, leatherfaces always being able to get within spitting range before you know they are there, and the candles simply felt like they existed to tell the killers where you are, and got destroyed when used to help teammates find generators. (It was also during the dracula boom because he just released so if it wasnt ghostface or legion or leatherface it was 50% of the time dracula)

I think the first Lights Out was better, tbh, the candelabras defeated the whole point of the modifiers.

I thankfully didn't deal with those types of players as much during the event (Which is probably why I enjoyed it so much since thats how I experience the usual matches), but I agree that it sucked going against Dracula which I found was my main complaint in the event.
Yeah, I can see that. I never used the lights as intended. Usually placing them down as markers for areas or using them to take agro and dropping them when I could, never really bothered putting them directly on the generators as it just showed where you were to the killers. But using them the other ways helped and felt like it made the game more fun, especially in a solo run.

Lights Out is cool in theory but sucks to actually play, and the addition of the Candlabras made the game mode even worse than it originally was.

Allow me to recount my experience with the first iteration of Lights Out:
- Go in wanting to play every Killer at least once
- Get halfway through in one sitting (Trapper to Demogorgon, minus Freddy for obvious reasons)
- Get the same exact map SIX TIMES IN A ROW (and it was the darkest one, which nicely moves into the next point)
- Stop playing at 9ish due to the massive headache I was getting from straining my eyes in the darkness for literal hours
- Have a feeling I can only describe as needles piercing my eyes until I go to bed at 1:30ish
Yeah, needless to say, it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with this game, and I'm pretty sure it actually killed my drive to play the game for a LONG time. I gave the second iteration one go and found it to be just as bad, so I've decided to never touch the mode again. It's not worth actual physical pain when I'm already a few steps removed of legally blind (a statement I'm not even sure is hyperbole).

Seems like Lights Out is very much marmite mode - people either love it or hate it

played it once and will never play it again. Designed for the kinda person who thinks survivors should have literally no interactions against the killer

It was alright but it's missing something.
Maybe some abilities or classes (no aura reading)?
The common generators are only to lighten up the places and unlock the rooms for the real generators? And the killer need to load up the generator kicks with hooks?
Does it all make sense? i don't know.
