Is Optiscaler Whitelisted?
I'm a big fan of upscalers, but DBD has only two: FSR1 (simple bilinear upscaler that gives a waterpainterly look to the image) and XeSS (an old version of it, don't recall which) and while these options have high compatibility with older hardware, DLSS has been around for 7 years now and RTX GPU's make up a large market of GPU's used by consumers now. XeSS is the closest we've got to a good upscaler but it doesn't reconstruct dithered elements properly (hair is a big one, but also elements within the environment like snow on Ormond Lake Mine, the orange stuff on the walls on RPD, etc.), while also having insane ghosting artifacts and I've had it! I am unable to deal with these minor graphics inconveniences that don't affect gameplay whatsoever! (Also it doesn't properly keep the XeSS settings when changing from Low/Medium/High/Ultra, leading to misleading performance!)
There is a tool that allows the injection of other reconstruction software called Optiscaler, and this tool is pretty much mandatory for games that don't support DLSS or people who want to replace DLSS/XeSS/FSR2.0(or higher). This software has high compatibility but online games are always iffy about this kind of thing and can potentially risk a ban.
Now, if bhvr isn't ever planning on supporting other, MUCH higher quality upscalers, is Optiscaler allowed? I don't want to test it and trigger a false ban because I want those pesky dithering artifacts out of my game while improving performance. If bhvr is going to implement DLSS or FSR2/3/4, I'll settle for that but I would really love to be able to inject other upscaling solutions in the meantime.
