Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

how its like starting to play survivor as a killer main

So i just started playing survivor only a few days ago, since i've got in to an accident which left my left hand/arm in a pretty bad shape, and this is the only role that i can play one handed.

So far its been pretty terrible, 6 out of my 10 games has been against nurses, my teammates are actually braindead and someone usually just gives up at the start of the match.

some examples:

tm runs across the whole map just to get healed even tho i have "we'll make it"

tm doesnt come for the save ,and lets me get to 2th hook stage while they arent even doing gens

non stop crouching

or when they do come to save me all 3 of them comes and are crouching around the hook that im on and again we are not making progress with the gens AND THEY DONT EVEN SAVE ME!

im on a gen and i have around 70-80% progress another tm is on hook, the other 2 arent doing anything according to the hud, so i assume they are goin for a save, i finish the gen and he hits 2th stage 💀

Worst playing surv is your team( biggest killers in dbd are your teammates), it will take time when you hit some mmr where survivors are brain dead. But when it happens your games will be more chill if you played killer against this team.

what about camping/tunneling/slugging? has that been happening to you a lot in your games, survivors keep saying it happens a lot but what about your games?

the reason why the survivor experience is bad 80% of the time is because of other survivors 10% is because of the killer and their tactics and the other 10 is because of the map and rng

played like 15 games today, there was only 1 hard camping vecna, slugging 0, tunnelling im not sure, maybe like 3? where it might have been intentionally, my games where mostly bad cause of my teammates.

If you're a fresh survivor, youll be in a low mmr which is AWFUL as an experienced player. Just keep escaping the best you can to climb out of the newbie ranks where youll eventually start getting experienced teammates. Low mmr is a killer's playground.

Sorry to hear about your injury, wishing you a swift and painless recovery.

Looking for friends or people in dbd communities to play with might help, solo queue is always going to be miserable most of the time.

Also always bring at least one info perk, I recommend kindred, it will help ease the pain of trying to make good plays when you have 3 people who have no way to communicate with you (and it usually makes my teammates play more optimally while I’m hooked if I’m running it)

Yeah, Kindred is like the number one mandatory solo queue perk, and I always have to run it in any build I use. It'll help you make the smartest decision when someone is on hook, and it'll help your teammates when you're on hook.

Survivor is very unplayable with the current balance. Seeing the gates opened is so rare and it's reflected in how everyone plays.

soloQ is a hell, even though i do my best to make good decisions, we lose often because my team usually play utterly bad.

When i'm in SWF, we win very often tho

Solo queue team mates can be terrible but low MMR is its own special kind of hell lol

This is my experience too; solo/duos/trios? HELL, but Full 4 SWF? win most of our matches.

Yeah I'm currently recovering from a broken wrist and as I started to get some movement I found Trapper was playable as he's not a hit and chase killer and I didn't have to turn my wrist in a painful manner.

I'm on cast number 3 and have much more movement but I've never ever played survivor as I find the idea boring.

I tried the tutorial and didn't enjoy it so not for me but good luck in playing survivor and with your recovery.

Incidentally I tried the tutorial again last week where it gets you to do things in turn and the gen skill check was bugged. I thought I was just missing but it was exploding at the end marker of the skill check every single time no matter when I hit the button.

I thought I can't miss every single time so I tried when the skill check was at the far end of the circle and I hit the button at the start to see and yes it still went to the end marker and exploded.

Don't know if this is a bug or not but it put me off becoming a survivor.

Which is being reflected by the increasingly long queue times for killer. It has gotten bad enough that Hens was on twitter whining about it the other day. It's only going to get worse with Springtrap and the go next system. The go next system in particular will result in more survivors being locked out of the queue or just not playing altogether after having to play out a string of frustrating matches. I can't see how it DOESN'T increase queue times.

My solo games normally go better than my SWF ones because my friends tend to go down pretty quickly in chases (occasionally I do just as bad) so I find some of the randoms I get carry me to an escape

I really dislike how harsh the new anti go next system is going to be. Survivors unable to keep their cool for over 20 miserable games without itching to hit that DC button are going to be racking up huge penalties that'll never go away. From what I gather, it won't even be possible to take a break from the game to reduce the penalty, which is a terrible decision in my opinion.

DBD can be a very frustrating game. More so than any other multiplayer game I've ever played. I'm sure plenty of forum members would argue these impulsive players should just go play something else. I think they'll get their wish and they probably will.

Every Survivor game I had today was an absolute disaster from start to finish. And even though I got absolutely destroyed in all but one of my Killer games, I still had a more enjoyable time playing. With every update, I feel more and more like abandoning the Survivor role entirely. Perhaps it just isn't for me anymore.

That was me yesterday morning. Played 3 survivor games and they were so bad I switched to killer for the rest of the morning. Even with the longer queue times it was a much better experience.

Dead by Daylight is generally a poorly balanced, trashy game. The developers lack a clear understanding of game design or balance. Despite being carelessly treated, solo queue appears to be the standard method of playing the game. Playing a killer feels like the developers firmly grasping your hand and forcing you into victories. It's the worst multiplayer game balance I've ever seen.
