The anti-cheat and reporting system just suck
I'm having to go against cheaters on average once per day, when is the anti-cheat situation going to be addressed? If I want anything to actually happen, I as the victim need to go through the tedious process of recording, uploading to YouTube (because your reporting & attachment system suck!) and then fill in an entire form, just for a small chance of anything being done.
The size this community has gotten to is in all likelihood beyond anything BHVR ever expected, but years have passed and very little has been done. It's completely unacceptable.

Absolutely nailed it.
Anti-cheat is indeed listed on their roadmap… but let’s be honest: if history is any indication, we’re looking at another glorified banwave while the actual cheating tools remain untouched.
Server-side detection? Real-time countermeasures? Nah. But hey, at least we'll get Feng’s 17th outfit and a slightly different shade of Nea's hoodie. Priorities.

yea bc the cosmetic team will totally help with the cheat system

Not even just the cheater reports, the chat report system is also depressingly bad. I don’t know if they just don’t read them or they have a backlog, but I can report people who use slurs and death threats in chat with no feedback for months, and they are only banned after filling out a ticket (which I should not have to do after reporting ingame for a chat report).
How is the censorship system so bad that it both misses tons of easy bypasses but also manages to consistently censor harmless words and phrases?

BHVR can change the number of people they have working on these different teams anytime they want. It’s not like that have a fixed number of employees that can never be changed. This is a terrible excuse for why certain things can be reprioritized.

There’s a very simple explanation for why BHVR isn't prioritizing these things - they don’t have to. People are not leaving the game because of the cheating issues; in fact, the player count has been increasing recently. Why would they spend resources on something that isn’t affecting player count and thus bottom line?

Three times I had to deal with cheater types yesterday, which is by all means an outlier, but just evidence that these things need to change… these cheats are as old as the game itself. I think even more worrisome is the now multi-platform nature of the game, seeing as people are seemingly buying up cheap Epic Games accounts to just go on cheating rampages for a while, until they're caught, and the process repeats.
Just yesterday I faced someone with a fully decked out Steam account, very clearly resetting their exhaustion to Head On troll. I'm guessing the nature of their account must mean they've been doing this for a long time.

Yes, the anti-cheat reporting system needs a complete overhaul. The effort to report cheaters is simply too high and feels terrible

Can't really complain about people not getting banned if you're not reporting them though. If you don't fill out the ticket, your ingame report doesn't do anything.

It's a little ridiculous that the victim of the cheating has to go out of their way to then also fill in a long form, upload a video (which doesn't work so → YouTube), wait for a response… At best this system is antiquated, at worst, negligent.

Had another three cheaters yesterday, then one today, already, and I've only been playing for an hour! BHVR, change your ######### system!

Of course. I imagine if it were easy to change, they would do it though. Would be nice of them to at least add a link so I don't have to search "player report dbd" everytime.
Then again, it's not like most players are seeing a cheater very often.

One thing that blows my mind, is how I have had cheaters flying under, around and outside the map and EAC doesn't see any issue with this. I think most of us have experienced the Nurse cheat where they hook you before you can even move… but the anti cheat doesn't see a problem with a match that ends in under 10 seconds lol.
As far as reporting, well they do ask a lot as far as wanting you to upload videos then provide links etc. I have never done this but I have reported cheaters in game and they have been banned. At least I assume so from the notifications I have got but they are of course very vague.

I certainly understand it's no easy task to do, but surely one worth doing at least a few years ago now. People have been complaining about this stuff for ages, and still nothing has changed.

Just today I had a Sable running around - and it's usually quite easy to tell - attempting to be 'subtle' by only using her speedhacks when she thought I was out of LoS. Even more frustrating when someone with more braincells actually succeeds in hiding it from you.

Some of the cheaters are concealing their actions by bringing in aura perks, sometimes all four. I've been running Distortion more, and sometimes The Killer will still locate you. I remember a Trial versus The Houndmaster in Haddonfield, and she was cheating, always finding everyone but being smart about it. Kicking gens or opening lockers first to create the illusion of using Nowhere to Hide or Darkness Revealed, and the deception works unless you're running Distortion with tokens. The token gets consumed, but she still knows exactly where to find you.

But I am reporting them ingame, why should I need to do more for a simple chat offense? It's not like I am reporting someone flying around, they have the logs to investigate the offense in question which is chat abuse.

I agree - especially the in game report system. Needs to be enhanced with better systems, detections and smoother reports for us across all users regardless of platforms as well as on the backend for the Dev's/Customer Support Agents or auditors that go through this.
Thumbs Up Feature needs to do something too! 10% extra BP for the person you thumbs uped. This does not stack with other thumbs ups.

Always funny to see people try so hard to hide it, but horribly frustrating for the rest of the match

I read other people suggesting a sort of 'playback system' to improve the reporting process at least a little. I just can't imagine the bureaucratic hell of having to go through every single report manually because the anti-cheat system doesn't work!
And yeah, agreed on the props thing. I used to give people props but it feels entirely pointless.
