Anybody else that would actually like to see Star Wars in DBD?
I think BHVR have their work cut out for them with Disney being interested in this idea.. This character by himself would bring a ton of people to the game. Not to mention, he fits the Killer vibe pretty well. Maybe they'd even be able to visually redesign him just a bit to make him look more horrific. Seeing as how we have characters like Trickster and Skull Merchant in the game, I don't see why someone like Darth Vader couldn't fit. He is one of the biggest murderers in the Star Wars universe with the deaths of even children under his belt. What do you think?

No.
It isn't even remotely horror.
Nobody needs DBD to be Fortnite 2

I defintely would. been wanting either Darth Vader Or Palpatine for a while
-1 -
Skull Merchant says otherwise. :P That character is the most knock off dollar bin attempt at a "horror" character I think I've ever seen. Darth Vader at least has a legacy of bloodshed, fear, and bodies in his wake. There is also no doubt that Vader would bring in the big bucks $$$$ just like Springtrap will.
-8 -
I love Star Wars but don't think Vader is a good fit at all
7 -
It's better to keep things horror focused imo. DnD is probably the most out there license, but it still embraces its darker elements and has a reanimated corpse with godly powers rending people to bone. Darth Vader is well and truly just kinda 'Mr pop culture', even if he's intimidating.
With a roster that largely focuses on the most genre shaping characters in Horror, Vader would just feel out place.
2 -
I think Vader would be pretty cool in Dead By Daylight. And it's not like he'd be the first character they got from a non-horror franchise. Vecna is from DND, which usually isn't associated with horror. (I guess it kinda depends on what kind of campaign you're playing.)
-1 -
no he isn't really horror themed i mean in universe he is but star wars isn't
4 -
Still not horror. May as well let Goofy in.
4 -
I mean Lara Croft isn't either and she's in here. Star Wars has plenty of dark lore to make itself fit. I think if they can fit the Tomb Raider in the game then Darth Vader would fit just fine. He's done more horrific things in 1 day than Lara has seen in her entire life. Characters like Lara Croft prove that the IP does NOT have to be based in horror. I know you guys realize that..
-6 -
I know you don't realized this but Lara Croft is survivor horror . Darth Vader doesn't fall under anything sorry.
1 -
The character is rooted in Action-Adventure. The newer ones for sure have horror elements in them. It's no different from Star Wars aside from the fact that it's much smaller and not as vast. Star Wars has a plethora of horror elements too so.
I suppose if they didn't want to do Darth Vader for whatever reason, they'd still have plenty to pull from. They could pick from plenty of things like the Brain Invaders from the Clone Wars, Dark Legends, and the stuff in Death Troopers is right up DBD's alley. Even stories about the Zillo Beasts or the Darkness from Rebels. Lot to pick from. Maybe it doesn't have to be Darth Vader, but something Star Wars will happen inevitably I bet.
-1 -
Have you not played any of the older games? They have lots of jump scares in them.
1 -
Yes of course but having weapons always makes it fall flat in terms of scary. The Giant Eel in Mario 64 is scarier than anything in Tomb Raider.. O.O Make Unagi a Killer!
-1 -
A lot of us had issues with that as well.

Oh I know. I've been around for awhile. Usually just read these forums. Not much I care to respond to. I remember everyone screaming how Lara doesn't fit and I'm like, I think she's fine. As long as elements of horror exist "somewhere" in the franchise, I feel like whoever the character is could fit.
-1 -
so then you should NOT be pushing for DBD to become a second Fortnite. We've already strayed too far from horror with FNAF and Tomb Raider. Having one horror-inspired but not necessarily horror license every once in a while is okay, but not all the time and not licenses with zero horror inspiration.
-1 -
FNAF is pure horror. Not sure what you're on about. Ahhhh I get it, you hate FNAF for other reasons.. All I'm saying is if a franchise has horror elements in it, I say it's fair game. I'm just glad FNAF made it in passed all the gatekeeping I saw going on for so long. Anybody who thought they could keep that money making franchise from entering DBD for whatever reason was wasting their time. Star Wars in the future would be no different.
I can agree that it doesn't HAVE to be Darth Vader, but a Star Wars Chapter I'd argue is even more likely than Friday the 13th at this point, funnily enough. xD

I could see him working honestly
The red lightsaber would be his basic attack. His power could easily be the force. He uses it to pull or push survivors.
-2 -
Then I'm sad that the game I loved is dead.
DBD was a hall of fame of horror, but with this new generation of player, it seems destined to crumble under its own weight. Adding non-horror and ######### licenses will be the death of that idea of DBD.
No doubt some people would like Darth Vader, Deadpool, Thanos and Harry Potter to be the next chapters of DBD.
1 -
Deadpool and Harry Potter are too comical. Darth Vader fits a lot more than any of them. I understand the example, but I'd still say Darth Vader oozes far more evil, fear, and horror than many famous characters such as the ones you listed. Darth Vader is an actual possibility. Characters like Deadpool? Come on, he's just comedy and not even in the same category as Vader. Now we're just over exaggerating.
I'd pick Darth because he comes with a serious vibe. I'd never go that far to suggest such joke characters as Deadpool and Harry Potter... Thanos though… O.o Hmmmm… Nah..lol.
-2 -
"Darth Vader at least has a legacy of bloodshed, fear, and bodies in his wake"
So does Voldemort, Thanos, Frieza, Megatron... doesn't mean they belong in DBD lol
9 -
I feel like we should start going for more niche horror IPs (maybe my dream of Dark Deception will come true once) or, hear me out, more original chapters.
And in "niche" I don't mean they are loosely horror, I just mean that they aren't as well known and popular as FNAF, but are still undeniably horror.
4 -
No doubt BHVR could make him work, though Palpatine is a much better fit for DBD, imho. No, he isn't horror and from a purist POV he doesn't belong. But I think that ship sailed when they added Nic Cage, Lara Croft and a Killer from a children's video game. Even Castlevania and D&D are up for debate, since they're not particularly scary. For better or worse, he fits in just as well as any of those other franchises. I guess you've got to draw the line at some point but if a regular evil fantasy wizard is OK, then why not an evil space wizard?

It's a good decision if your main concern is marketing the game to a bigger audience. You will bring in far more players than you would by adding a character from a niche horror franchise. A Darth Vader DLC would immediately be a contender for the biggest chapter the game has ever had. I feel similar to the above poster in the sense that I knew the ship had sailed when they added Nicolas Cage and Lara Croft. One thing I will disagree with is the idea that there is some line that has to be drawn at some point. I think at this point Behavior will add anything they think can make them a ton of money. I've never been a horror purist so I am pretty indifferent to it overall.

I would love to see Darth vader in the game but he wouldn‘t fit in dbd. How do you explain that survivors survive two hits from a lightsaber without getting sliced into pieces. Secondly why does he not just force choke people to instantly finish them.

I'm not opposed to it. It would be a little weird, but I think it would have potential for some creepy atmosphere. (Someone suggested at close range or in a chase, he turns his lightsaber on which gives him the red stain, and you hear his breathing acting as a lullaby within a certain range.)
-1 -
No, Vader does not fit at all. Dark Helmet on the other hand… No, no. This is what happens when you start adding non-horror licenses and cosmetics. The lines have been blurred on what should be in the "horror hall of fame" and what clearly shouldn't. Now the flood gates have been opened for all these non-horror suggestions with the reason "Well, what about [x] who's in the game already". Keep it horror, not sci-fi or action-adventure.

I am all for trying new things for this game, and am excited for it, but honestly I just don't think Darth Vader would be a fit. Maybe I am wrong and they can make it work which would be great. But my opinion right now is he doesn't fit
2 -
Is your argument based on fact or just on your opinion? Disney just bought a significant portion of Epic Games stock and have partnered with them to bring more Disney experiences to fortnite. Friday the 13th is just sitting in purgatory with no source of active revenue.

It's sad because the problem is twofold: players who are here for franchises other than dbd and the fact that bhvr enable it. It feels like ever since the first resident evil chapter, bhvr are content with destroying their own game's individuality just to make a few extra bucks on the audience that would never like dbd to begin with.

If I’m being honest, I think they’ve already passed the non-horror thing with Nic Cage and Dungeons & Dragons. (And as cool as he is, I have to admit Vader has more potential to be scary and intimidating than Vecna does)
As much as I’d prefer them stick to horror, there’s only a finite amount of popular horror characters they can add. So at some point they have to eventually shift from pure horror.
-1 -
exacly. A collab for Survivors maybe np, but no Killer
0 -
Voldemort would work. Just not Harry Potter for me. Villains just fit a lot easier.
-1 -
There's still a ton of heavy hitters left too.
TLOU, Evil Within, Dead Space, Amnesia, ect ect
5 -
So there's even less of an issue there.
Personally, I'd welcome more original chapters, as the last two we got were Houndmaster and Unknown.
5 -
For sure! Eventually they could get into the more "very niche" horror. I'd love to see something like Puppet Master or Pumpkin Head in DBD.

Yes.
There's no reason to even entertain this kind of stuff.
1 -
No. I don't think Vader, or Star Wars in general, has any place in dbd. This isn't Fortnite, and it shouldn't be attempting to become Fortnite.
3 -
No, Darth Vader might be a famous character, but the Star Wars franchise as a whole isn't horror and just won't fit in DBD. The licensed killer has to be from a primarily horror story. For the survivors I'm more fine with since they are suppose to be just everyday citizens.
1 -
I couldnt care less, let's not pretend that most of the roster is even scary tho. I understand wanting characters from horror IPs but i'd rather see the game being more horror oriented itselt, because we have trailers / teasers like the ones the Unknown had, which were FANTASTIC, yet ingame he is just funny looking, like not in a unsettling way, just funny.
Do they have any intent of making the game more scary? If yes, then i'd rather not see Star Wars; if no, then add whatever as long as is fun to use / verse 🤣0 -
vaders m1 wouldn't one shot because we don't alter properties like that, so he would be kinda horrible for dbd.
that, plus Vader is the master of Kanekis kidnap tech. I don't think dbd maps would be Amy fun to face Annie on.
0 -
For our 3 cents, we'd go with no. While there's horror stuff in Star wars if you go looking, Vader doesn't fit well enough for us to join the ranks.
1 -
When you watch a scene like Darth Vader cutting down all those troopers in Star Wars Rogue One and it still doesn't click for you then I'd say you're lost. I think he'd work just fine. He'd instill a hell of a lot more fear than a character like Skull Merchant EVER will. I think people just want to gatekeep like they have some type of control over what gets in the game, but mark my words, sooner or later, Star Wars will be here.
I said this exact thing years before we got FNAF. To those of you that remember, great! At the end of the day, BHVR will follow the money. Following the $$$$ is the key to success. FNAF did it with all the naysayers so I don't see why Star Wars couldn't put a child murderer in DBD. Also, just in terms of acts committed, Vader makes Springtrap look like nothing. Denial is always the 1st step. Never forget that when down the road we get the announcement. Even if it isn't Vader, Star Wars will be here eventually.
-3 -
You already got your Darth Vader in fortnite.
2 -
FNaF is objectively a horror IP. There is no room for debate.
3 -
*Ahem* *ahem* Angel of Darkness?
0 -
Oh shoot you're right! I forgot about the absolute worst Tomb Raider game of all time. That game was so bad that it actually was SCARY.
0 -
Play Tomb Raider 2013 - Tomb Raider: Shadows before you make comparisons.
It has a higher age rating than every Star Wars movie and has more gory and scary moments.
I can think of Vader or any other Sith, droid or creature in dbd. But at same time this galaxy feels out of place and to far far away from dbd.
Who would be the survivors?
0 -
Rey can be the Survivor so I can tunnel/camp and only force choke her.
