Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Darth Vader power

So regardless of whether or not we believe he should be in Dead By Daylight; if he was put in as a killer, what would his power be?

Obviously he'd be wielding a red lightsaber and would have force capabilities.

My thoughts were that he would be able to select a generator from a distance to throw his lightsaber at which then becomes lodged in making repairs impossible (if survivors are in the flight path of saver they become injured). The counter to this is to be given a prompt to remove the lightsaber that takes a number of seconds and when successfully removed the lightsaber returns to Vader. Cooldowns would be implemented.

While he has his weapon he has a slightly increased range and breaks pallets & gens faster. While he does not have it he injures survivors with a force animation as a normal basic attack.

This is just a rough idea and I am really curious what other ideas you guys have? I enjoy Star Wars but I'm not a massive fan so I don't know too much past the basics of the franchise.

This isn't a plea for him to be included in the game just so we are clear, as I'm more is the 'no' camp but more of a what if scenario

Just as a fun thought experiment…

4.4 move speed, 32 meter terror radius, tall.

Throws lightsabers and it returns to him. When her first throws it, it can be ducked under like flight of the damned, but then returns from a lower point. Movement speed is dropped to almost a standstill when it is thrown.

Tap Control to toggle to other power: Pallet Throw

Uses the force to lift a dropped pallet up and throw at survivors. Survivors can crouch to become invulnerable to the damage for 0.6 seconds, but this triggers a cooldown on the invulnerability for 1.2 seconds. Survivors will see the cooldown is present on there hud as it flashes blue. Additionally, the thrown pallet creates a wall for 3 seconds that hinders survivors who try to walk into it.

Being Stunned by a pallet will disable both of Vader's abilities for 12 seconds.

@TheSingleQuentinMain that does sound similar to Vecnas power - when you say it returns from a lower point I assume that would be non damaging or just avoidable?

An offensive version of Mage Hand is quite interesting- especially the creating walls part. Does the pallet get destroyed after the 3 seconds/survivor walking into it?

@Hexonthebeach droids are a Star Wars staple but how would that affect the survivors? Would it be similar to a Twins power?

Kinda hard to think of one when he's the strongest being from Star Wars that he can effortlessly use the force to grab a large space ship and pull it back to him like it's just another Tuesday.

Whatever I do try to think of something it'll be a very underwhelming version of him that just feel wrong. Does he even have anything in his arsenal that's not an instant kill against civilians?

I wonder if it would resemble The Ghoul, where he would possess the ability force choke the survivor, behaving similarly to the second kagune leap, allowing the killer to briefly grab the survivor and issue a deep wound. Unless they choose to design a Deathslinger-like force pull mechanic, I am uncertain how else Darth Vader's powers implemented.

It could be intriguing to design a Darth Vador inspired skin the oni, particularly as it already appears to be utilizing a force-like power to retrieve the blood.

For the lightsaber throw I meant that you could duck easily and it would be super easy to dodge, but when it comes back it's around the survivors ankles so it has to be avoided by moving out of the way, and not just ducking. In hindsight, bad design, since it would work great in a narrow hallway where the attack can only be ducked from, and then you wouldn't be able to dodge as it returns.

Pallet is destroyed within 3 seconds of throwing it. If a survivor runs into it, there is not effect on it's duration, they just suffer extreme hindered effect (2 seconds of 60% hindered). But to make sure it doesn't get used to much in Narrow spaces where it just locks survivors in, the pallet will break if it hits another wall. It's not perfect, but with tweaking this might actually be okay.

only way I could see Vader being authentic is if he had Nurse walking speed and his basic attacks all cause exposed.

Vader is supposed to be slow and cumbersome, otherwise you'd rather have RotS Annie or TPM Darth Maul

I think they would most likely base DBD Vader around his portrayal in Empire Strikes Back. Which would mean none of the wackier force powers from the video games, TV shows and prequel / sequel movies.

Otherwise, I'm not entirely sure to be honest. Maybe something to help him sense the presence of Survivors? Like Whispers but perhaps with a longer range. I think it would be cool to give him a stealth power whenever he deactivates his Lightsaber, to allow him to sneak up on people (with a Lullaby similar to Sadako's). He could force grab Survivors off gens from a short distance in this state. The ability to use the force to pull pallets down on Survivors to hinder them could be pretty funny, but also potentially very annoying.

Might also be fun if he could throw barrels or other objects at Survivors to injure them, but I don't know if that would be possible with DBD's physics engine. It's hard to think of things that don't seem a bit mundane for such a powerful Sith Lord (but then I'm not a game designer).

    Force choking to instant down.

Force throw to hook within line of sight.

If he didn't have these then it's a worthless addition to the game.

@100PercentBPMain I think whatever his power would be, the Entity would nerf him like a lot of the licensed characters we currently have such as Alucard or Vecna. That would be pretty if he was using a haste stacking build but he would still struggle to get any map pressure if he was slow.

@tjt85 The Empire Strikes Back version is probably the most fitting for that reason. He is guilty of having comically fluctuating power levels across the media I have seen. Using pallets against survivors is interesting and at the least better than Freddy making fake ones. Item throwing could work if said items only generated as part of his trails or at least I assume it is withing the devs ability at this point in DBD.

@Mr_K 😂 I don't think we'd ever see another killer played ever again if he could insta hook. Certainly would be true to Vader though if he could ragdoll survivors with the Force. Kinda like a better version of Wesker chucking survivors?

@BlackRabies let's give him some ships above to pick apart and rain down on the map? 😆 but in all seriousness that is his issue, he would be a weakened version if he were in the game

Saber throw that survs have to dick

Force powers like Choke, pull ,throw, and lightning.

Crazy idea what if Survs get blasters to slow Vader down that Vader has to deflect

I don't it's doing interrogation things. The pet is following the survivor and and giving them little electro shocks.

I see the choke as a mori, too. I imagine a throw like from Wesker. It could be usable while carrying survivor to force away blocker and disarm flashlights (without pick up timer).
