2v8 permanent?
Should 2v8 be made a permanent gameplay mode? If not, why?

Originally, I would've said yes. But there are vast limitations to this:
1V4 Will Have A Less Player Count:
Whenever a new mode is added, majority of player base tend to shift to THAT new mode. Making queues hard to find sometimes when going for 1v4.
2v8 Killer Queues:
However, playing 2v8 as a Killer isn't always fun as you need to sit in a queue ranging from 10-20mins just to find a singular match. On the other hand, it'll take a few minutes to find one as a survivor.
Conclusion?
Those are the reasons why BHVR won't add other modes for a 'permanent' time as the queues won't be balanced. And secondly, I'd say the modes they add are still prototypes as they are still ridden with bugs and considering how they're limited time.

I can see what you mean, but at the same time:
As someone who plays killer and has another friend who plays killer/survivor, it would be fun to be able to play with them without being forced to go survivor to do so or being forced to make a custom game to do so. And I mean, as a killer, you wait quite a bit anyway, especially now that the new killer is out.
I do get the point that it is still a prototype and buggy, which is why it should be properly fixed before becoming a new game mode.
I just think the game would benefit from having more game modes. Personally, I would also like to have a way for a killer and survivor friends to queue up, alas I can also see why that isn't really done.-2 -

I totally agree with you! I just think that if BHVR resumes working on the modes actively, I could see them become a potential gamemode in the near future. As well, I think if their player count increases too then it will probably speed up the matchmaking!

This is fun for some time. I think these 3 month intervalls are fine.
But 2v8 is a vastly dumbed down fast action version from the game. Also you have some absolutely unfair situations if the killers chase you together.
Also Legion+Oni was just awful.

Can't be much worse then Springtrap, but fair I can see how killer synergy might be a pain to deal with. Fair enough, I personally would just want that to play with my friend without having to go Survivor and without having to do a custom game.

i don't think so. i'm fine with how it is now, and if any mode is made permanent to the game, i'd much rather it be something more fun, like chaos shuffle.

I feel like it shouldn't be here at all times, cause it destroys queues, and because making it scarce is what makes it so exciting.

I don't agree with FOMO, and honestly, if the queues really do get too long, which I doubt would happen, seeing as the problem isn't enough players, the problem is enough survivors, buff BP in the categories that require more players, like they do with survivors now. Is 2v8s low? 100% extra BP for the classes that are low right now ontop of the survivor BP bonus. Is 1v4 low? Do the exact same thing.

It's a novelty that would grow stale with time. I'm much happier being hyped with my friends before it comes out. Oftentimes when it runs for more than two weeks we're all very tired of it before it ends up leaving.

I would play killer more often if I was able to play with one of my friends. The main reason I play survivor more is directly tied to this.

i do love 2 v 8 BUT it wouldn't go well if it was always there
it works better if it comes and goes because its a fun twist and then you might get bored over time BUT if they added it to custom games as a permanent thing I'd love that

right now no: its not pleasant enough of a game mode to justify running 24/7 and the hanker on the queues would be too oppressive on the playerbase when the game is currently still so buggy.

It shouldnt be permanent but it should happen more frequently at a shorter time window.
Like instead of lasting for a 2-3 weeks straight once every 3-4 months, have it happen 1-2 days per week.

My particular reason for it not being permanent is, have you tried 1v4 during event ques or 2v8? Because whenever i did, the players i was stuck grouping with were the ones that play to win at all costs, meaning every survivor group as killer, was a hardcore legacy swat team bringing nukes to a sword fight, i just could not enjoy the killers i wanted to enjoy because all the casual players are in the quick action more points mode, and you are left with nothing but the competitive players in 1v4. And THEN theres que times, and also it would slow all content down by having to fix and update 2 games at once. And last but not least LEGION+1V8 is what ive started calling it due to how legion is in 80% of the rounds

No. It's fun to massacre as killer, but with two killers that can tag team, it's wildly unfair to survivors. I even feel unfair myself while I'm doing the tag-teaming. If it wasn't for the survivor BP boost and the Quests I think a good deal of people wouldn't bother, myself included. Even with it's limited time availability, killers start to figure out how to tunnel. There's also been slugging in my survivor matches.
So it's mostly chaos, skill expression is lacking, and, given enough time, it will have the same dirty tactics as 1v4 as more killers figure out cage spawn locations.

Eventually but not anytime soon, it needs more content before it's in a place where it being permanent would make sense.
