Springtrap's Axe Doesnt Count as a Protection Hit

Title, even if both Survivors are in chase and right ontop of eachother, getting hit with the projectile does not trigger a protection hit, making perks like Mettle of Man fail to gain stacks.
Platform is steam, presumably on other platforms as well.
