New Killer Idea - The Author
Here’s my idea for a new killer:
Dead by Daylight: Written in Blood
Killer: The Author (Evelyn Marrow)
Survivor: Liam Marrow
Realm: The Forgotten Study
Killer: The Author
Real Name: Evelyn Marrow
Weapon: Ink-Drenched Quill
Backstory:
Evelyn Marrow’s words once entranced a nation.
Born in a quiet countryside village, Evelyn was a child of stories, raised by ink and paper. By her early twenties, her novels captivated the world, celebrated for their sharp detail and devastating emotion. But over time, Evelyn’s writing took a dark turn.
Where once she wrote hopeful endings, now she wrote only tragedies. Fires. Disappearances. Betrayals. Readers felt discomfort—and then dread—as they began to notice names within the stories: familiar names. Friends. Family. Neighbors. People from their own towns—gone without a trace, as if they’d never been born.
Whispers began to circulate. Rumors of curses. Of stories that erased those written within them. When investigators came to Evelyn’s manor, they found her study in disarray—walls lined with frayed paper, ink flooding the floors, manuscripts twisted into indecipherable shapes. One book remained untouched on her desk, its pages thick with ink, names written over and over again, entire paragraphs crossed out violently.
Evelyn Marrow was never found.
But somewhere deep in The Fog, the scratching of a quill on parchment echoes eternally, and new names appear in the book every day.
Power: Ink of Oblivion
Reality bends to your story. The ink writes, and all shall fade.
Special Ability – Mark of the Quill:
Hold the Power button to draw a thin line of ink across your path. If this line touches a Survivor, they become Marked.
- Marked Survivors leave behind Ink Footprints instead of scratch marks.
- Marked Survivors are Oblivious for 30/35/40 seconds.
Special Ability – Bleeding Page:
Press the Active Ability button to release a pool of black ink around you for 4 seconds.
- Marked Survivors caught inside are 10% slower and have their auras revealed to you for 4 seconds.
- Cooldown: 25 seconds.
Special Mechanic – Erased:
When a Marked Survivor is hooked, they become Erased for 45 seconds.
- Their aura cannot be seen by teammates.
- Healing progress on them regresses 10% every 5 seconds unless actively healed.
Perks:
Final Draft
Your obsession with perfection bleeds into the hunt.
- The first time a Survivor is hooked, all generators instantly regress 8/9/10%.
- After a Survivor has been hooked twice, gain 4/6/8% Haste for 12 seconds.
Bleeding Ink
Every wound spills more story.
- Gain a token each time you injure a Survivor (Max 3/4/5).
- Each token increases vault speed by 3% and reduces missed attack cooldown by 5%.
Off the Page
Your unfinished manuscript draws others into your despair.
- While carrying a Survivor, all other Survivors within 16 meters suffer from Blindness and Exhausted.
- If a Survivor performs a rescue action within this radius, they become Exposed for 15/18/20 seconds.
Extra Hex Perk:
Hex: Erased Pages
Description:
Your writing alters the fate of your victims, tearing key advantages from their pages. As long as this Hex remains active, 1 random perk from each survivor is disabled. But tampering with the script has its price.
Effects:
•While this Hex is active:
- Each survivor has 1 of their equipped perks randomly disabled.
- Disabled perks remain hidden until the survivor attempts to use them.
- Survivors receive a notification when a perk is disabled for the first time.
•Fairness mechanic (to balance power):
- One of your own perks (chosen at random, excluding Hexes) is also disabled while this Hex is active.
- If all survivors are injured or hooked at the same time, the Hex temporarily deactivates until one becomes healthy or unhooked (to prevent complete steamrolls).
- Like all Hexes, this effect ends permanently if the Hex Totem is cleansed or blessed.
Mori Animation:
The Author calmly flips open her ink-stained book as the downed Survivor gasps for breath. Ink tendrils slither from the pages, wrapping around their limbs and throat. Their screams become silent as their body begins to distort, stretching and compressing unnaturally before fading entirely into the book’s page. Evelyn tears the sheet free, folds it neatly, and tucks it into her pocket before stepping away into the mist.
Survivor: Liam Marrow
Role: The Forgotten Son
Backstory:
Liam Marrow never wanted to be a story.
As a child, he adored his mother, Evelyn. She taught him words before numbers, poetry before play. But as the ink darkened in her manuscripts, so too did their home. Names—neighbors, friends—began to disappear from both the page and memory. Liam tried to run. Once. But the ink followed.
By the time Liam was a teenager, he understood that the stories his mother wrote were more than fiction—they were binding. Every attempt to escape was rewritten. Every friend who tried to help was erased. It was only by pure luck—or perhaps his mother’s hesitation—that Liam slipped away during a violent storm, leaving behind the house, the books, and the twisted woman he no longer recognized.
For years, he drifted from place to place, keeping no attachments, trusting no one. But some bindings can never be broken. One day, a strange black fog rolled in, thicker than ink, familiar in its dread. Liam knew: the story wasn’t over yet.
Now, deep in The Entity’s Realm, Liam must face the nightmare he thought he left behind.
Survivor Perks:
Second Draft
You’ve learned that life rarely gives you one chance.
- After being unhooked or unhooking yourself, break into a sprint at 150% of your running speed for 3/4/5 seconds.
- Causes Exhaustion. (60s cooldown.)
Rewrite Fate
You refuse to let others suffer your story.
- When another Survivor is put into the Dying State within 16 meters of you, you both see each other’s auras for 8/10/12 seconds.
- If you heal that Survivor from Dying to Injured, they gain Endurance for 6/8/10 seconds. (Cooldown: 80s)
Fading Memories
The longer you survive, the more determined you become to change your ending.
- For each completed generator, gain a stackable 2/3/4% boost to Repair and Healing speed (up to 10/12/16% max).
Realm: The Forgotten Study
A crumbling Victorian manor overtaken by ink. Bookshelves collapse under their own weight, paper clings to broken furniture, and rivers of black ink flood the hallways. The scratching of Evelyn’s pen echoes endlessly.
This was an idea that’s taken a while to create, if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. :)
I also enjoyed getting creative with the backstories!
