DC Penalty Aquired During Achievement Hunting
Recently enabled cross progression and was interested in collecting the achievements again on a new platform. I played as The Shape, seeking 100 Tier ups for The man behind the bush. I played exclusively for the achievement, so while I tiered up around 7 times I did not attempt to hook until end game. During the collapse the friendly survivors pointed at a hook and I ended up getting 6 hooks total.
After all Survivors escaped, I received a 15 minute penalty. For what? I moved around the map the entire game. I got stunned by pallets, I chased survivors, I even ended the trial with a few hooks. But I received a penalty for being friendly? This is really disappointing.

I did not manually disconnect whatsoever this month. I played friendly for 20+ trials only getting kills if survivors chose to wait out the collapse. My most recent match, the highest scoring one, is what gave me the penalty. I received another ban the previous trial, where I never left the main building of the Ormond Lake Mine and incorrectly assumed it was for being "afk" despite stalking the entire trial. Putting forth arguably the most effort of my recent trials was the game that gave me the longest ban.
I assume this is part of the Go Next Prevention but banning players for a "lack of effort" is incredibly subjective. On one hand I agree that it was an attempt at a necessary evil as it was all too frequent for a survivor to give up immediately and ruin the match for their teammates. But on the other hand, the killer has no team. I am griefing nobody.

I haven't had a penalty yet, but I'm pretty sure the outcry will force Behavior to rethink this silly system they've introduced.. I get AFK crows from moving across the map or using built to last. It's kinda ridiculous. I can't think of another game that punishes you for playing the game.

I think this is also very likely to affect new players who, for lack of a better word, just suck at the game. Maybe they won't be getting downs because they don't know how to play well. Maybe they're trying out a killer they are unfamiliar with and are learning their power. Are they going to get a matchmaking penalty because they are not getting the results? Not everyone is a pro gamer. It doesn't mean they should be punished for it. I also think that friendly killers and achievement hunters should not punished. There are more than just 1 valid way to play the game, and as long as someone is not intentionally preventing other players from having fun, it should not be a problem.

Also folks who find themselves against cheaters. If you DC, it's a penalty. If you stick it out but are prevented from progressing the match, also a penalty.

Stuff like this is why I'm baffled that anyone can defend this new penalty system. It's so flawed, it simply cannot stay in the game in any capacity.

It's literally the death of the queue. It's actively forcing the players out of the game due to no fault of their own.

I think it comes from a "it does not directly affect me therefore it's not an issue" mindset. They see people having issues, but because they havent had issues with the system OR dont play the role affected by the issue, they see no reason to care.
This is made even worse when some people are intentionally doing this maliciously (troll people by trying to give them Grade Reductions or Matchmaking Bans) or because it negatively impacts another person's experience even if they are not directly abusing said system maliciously ("because it is funny").
The DBD community (not everyone, but small parts of the community) has done stuff like this time and time again, it's to be expected.

Hmm, I cheesed Springtrap's "Jump Scared" by staring into security doors and basically nothing else (maybe traveling around, but that doesn't count as anything). It took a lot of matches. A lot. I ended some matches with 0 points because no one used a door once.
I never got any sort of penalty. I was in the Pizzeria queue, though I don't think that would matter. But if anyone were going to get a penalty for not participating, it should've been me. Could it have been something else that caused the penalty? Or did the message say you were being penalized for non-participation?

Exactly, this is why the system is extremely odd. I think it was also mainly introduced for new player-influx, since if they wanted to do something against Go Next, they could have done it way earlier. Yet it only came with the FNAF-Update and that it was not even ready for the PTB shows that it was something they quite hastily put together, at least I would assume that. Because this would show the many flaws the system has.
But to go back to my point - the system is odd because if it was intended to increase the new player experience, it is strange how strict the system is. When I was a new player, I spend a lot of time crouching around and being scared. Nowadays I would be hit with a Penalty Point for that. Same as Killer - sure, most Killers are easy to pick up (when I look at the free ones) at least to a point where you will probably be able to do enough to not trigger the system, but what if a new players tries out a Killer like Huntress or even Nurse? They would have issues getting anything done and after a bad game they might be hit with a Penalty Point.
Or even worse - you are on the Hook, have no idea of Skill Checks, miss them and then get a Penalty Point.
The system is incredibly flawed and IMO just put together in way too less time with way too less thought put into it.

Im guessing the game noticed you essentially never got into a chase and just held down 1 button extensively. I know alot of bot BP farmers would do that where they'd have a killer attack over and over (usually with Doc). The system mightve confused you for one of them.

Anyone not wanting it removed completely is defending it to them.
It is reasonable to agree the current implementation was deployed half-baked. That doesn't mean having a system with stated goals wasn't unwarranted. Should BHVR fix the system? Of course. If it's too much to fix with a couple hot fixes then it should be killswitch and cook a little longer in the background.
