What is a locked totem?
I'm a 2016 veteran, pretty much know the game inside out, but I can't figure out what perk or effect does locked totems?? How does BHVR expect new players to figure it out? I can't even find it through google. Wrong wording maybe, I don't know. It's also super rare, cause I've only seen it happen about twice in a year, so…
Either way, I sometimes get in a situation at endgame where a totem is locked… I always assume its NOED or something, so I leave, cause I dont know any better…
Thanks <3

arr you talking about dominance? or pentimento?

Hex: Plaything (Now Fortune's Fool) from Pinhead will block the totem for 90 seconds for everyone that isnt the survivor associated to it. For example if Meg was hooked and is now afflicted with Plaything, only she can cleanse her totem for the first 90 seconds. After that anyone can cleanse it.
2nd perk is Dominance from Dracula. The first time a chest or totem is touched, it will be blocked for 16 seconds. The blocked chest/totem is then highlighted with a white aura for the killer.
EDIT: Oh and Pentimento, but thats even less common than some one seeing me and swipping right

Well, how about next time you see something you don't understand, you wait around until the match is over so you can read the Killer's perks and add-ons? 99% of the time these explain exactly what you saw and can lift a ton of confusion.4 -
Just an FYI, the Fandom wiki is abandoned and no longer being updated. The effects of Pentimento listed here are different now. It does still block all totems at full stacks, but the debuffs to recovery and gate opening speeds have been removed. The new wiki can be found here:

Ok thanks for the replies, but its non of this. Because :
1) It wasnt pentimento, cause the killer didn't have 5 pentis up.
2) it was permanently blocked, so it couldn't have been the other perk either, which says 16secs.
Does this mean we missed something here or am I dealing with cheaters when this happens?
Either way man it's hard to keep up with all the new perks these days, not just that but they also constantly change. I can't even imagine what new players go through getting into DBD… They must be confused aaaaaalll the time.

I now assume it must have been this! Did they change this perk at any point? I never knew about the lock… Thanks mate. I thought it was permanent, I guess I didn't wait long enough for 90secs to pass… Who would anyway right, without knowing what perk this is from :D

Plaything has always had the locking effect, in fact I'm pretty sure it was the very first perk to have it.

I guess the effect of that was so rare, at least in my matches, that I completely missed it :) I just saw it happen 2x recently and I absolutely hated that I had no idea how to handle the situation, so both times I just took the selfish escape out ^^

Is it Hex: Fortune’s Fool? When a survivor is hooked, they become hexed and oblivious until the totem is cleansed. For the first 2 minutes out so, the totem can only be cleansed by the survivor afflicted by it.
Edit: I see someone already answered the question. Never mind! Lol
