Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Do we have ANY information on support for ultra wide monitors?

I used to play DBD on Xbox, but I’ve since moved to being a full PC gamer.

Imagine my shock, after setting up dbd and doing all the account linking stuff to find that when I queued into a game the camera was like SO ZOOMED in, I thought it was a bug honestly.

Then after suffering for a while I was eventually like right what is happening here since In the main menu things seemed fine. I then googled when I was seeing that there is no ultra wide monitor support. Many of these posts were from years ago though.

I booted up the game and found the aspect ratio?is that it? In the settings and queued in to be met with my game screen being normal looking but smaller on the screen with two MASSIVE black bars on the sides.

how is ultra wide monitor support not a thing? My monitor is a 34 inch screen. My old tv was like a 42-46 inch screen and the game took up the whole screen and that was tall top to bottom not just on the sides like my monitor.

Like what is the issue here? Console players can have huge screens with full vision while I’m stuck with a now smaller screen with black bars?

Pooja what is this behaviour? (That’s a meme btw)

Because ultrawide fov in this game would give a competitive advantage plain and simple. If you haven't already go into beta settings and set your fov to 103

how though? As I said before on console playing on big TVs the games screen accommodates it? What’s the difference with a PC player on an ultra wide monitor?

Also, ultra wide monitors I feel are becoming much more of a norm than ones that are not. Desktop players like myself typically I would say have ultra wide monitors these days. The only screens that wouldn’t be ultrawide is the laptop community like my brother.

There are games that are much more competitive and have real pro leagues and ranked competitive play modes that support ultra wide monitors.

DBD is not pressed as a competitive game, and it has no pro league. I understand the game IS VERY competitive, but I find the viewpoint you’ve made to be an outdated defence these days.

Ultra wide is going to become increasingly more common and curved ultra wide like I have. The game needs to modernise and adapt that.

it feels like it’s a defence from the stretched resolution days back when people used to abuse that.

Console players playing on a TV are still playing at 16:9 aspect ratio, that means what they see is the exact same as anybody using a standard 16:9 monitor. The screen size of a TV makes no difference here. A pc player playing on an ultrawide at either 21:9 or 32:9 aspect ratio means that the game would physically render out a larger picture, hence the competitive advantage, and why it would be similar to when people abused stretched res
