Mechanic Vs Commodious Toolbox
Commodious Toolbox is better than mechanics toolbox in every way imo. Is there any situation, however niche, where one might prefer the mechanics toolbox to the commodious? The only thing I can think of is if there is a crucial gen that's under pressure from the killer and it has 16> charges left to complete the repair, then the extra 25% speed is useful. But that is such a niche situation that I can't think that anyone would actively choose the mechanics for that specific reason.
Or is there another situation I'm unaware of?

The Mechanic Toolbox (due to its much higher repair speed, which can be further increased by add-ons, and low charges) is good as a "quick & safe" option.
Franklin's will hurt a lot less if you use it from the get-go and all the charges are gone before the Killer even reaches you, doing almost a third of a gen by yourself in seconds in the process depending on add-ons.
It's also, as you said, a good option to swiftly finish a nearly-completed gen in the Killer's vicinity.

The best toolbox in the game is the Engineer's Toolbox with max charge addons. It gets the most charges into the generator the quickest.
Engineer's with max charge addons: 100% repair speed with 36 charges
Commodius with max speed addons: 100% repair speed with 32 charges.

If you're doing a full gen the two are basically a wash. You'll save an extra .34 seconds assuming you're running double charge addone on both.
@topic the Mechanics toolbox is hot garbage imo. I'd never bring it personally.

.34 seconds is .34 seconds lol

Commodious is the better one.
Mechanics could get removed tbh.

No, the Mechanics Toolbox is always worse than the Commodious Toolbox. The Commodious Toolbox is the best Toolbox.
And if you want a faster speed, you would rather go for the Engineers Toolbox (the purple one), which has the same charges like the Engineers Toolbox, but is a bit faster.

Agree with @SoGo and Aven_Fallen.
The Mechanics Toolbox has no niche. It has half the charges of the Commodius for not that much more repair speed, and it has half the sabotage speed as well with an awkard number of charges.
In any and all scenarios, you would either take the Commodius Toolbox or the Engineers Toolbox, and tbh its not that much improved over the standard Toolbox either (debatably worse).
I'd either delete the Mechanics Toolbox, or switch its sabotage speed with the Commodius Toolbox and give it 2 extra charges as a weaker Alex's toolbox. Tbh I dunno why the Commodius doesn't have the weakest sabotage speed period...
I would also remove the brown Worn Toolbox as well... since it has an active detriment to it for newer players.... (4 O'clock skillchecks suck with this toolbox).

Commodious with both yellow repair add ons is better than both, assuming you're aiming to get a whole gen done.
Engineers with charges: 34 charges at +100% speed in 17 seconds, remaining 56 charges at normal speed, 73 seconds total
Commodious with charges: 44 charges at +80% speed in 24.444... seconds, remaining 46 charges in 46 seconds, 70.444… seconds total.

Yup.
About the Worn Out Toolbox, I thought of making it so Skill Checks are easier with it and not harder, in exchange for some repair speed.
So it will have about 25% repair speed increase and 33% slower skill checks, for example.
So it'd be a nice tool for newbies who can't hit them as well.
