Using cameras to find Springtrap just isn't worth it

Using cameras to find Springtrap feels pointless in Solo Q, it gives almost no real advantage. In SWF, it's more useful since you can share his location instantly, making the aura reveal redundant.

The Issues

1. Wasted Time:
If you don’t find him, you’ve wasted several seconds and gain nothing, not even bloodpoints.

2. Weak Reveal:
If you do find him:

  • The reveal can be blocked by the Blindness Status Effect.
  • The aura lasts only a few seconds, far less than the time it took to trigger it. You can extend it by staring at him, but what’s the point?

Suggested Changes

1. Bloodpoint Reward:
Gain 25 Boldness points per second spent on cameras, even if you don’t find him.

2. Ignore Blindness:
The aura reveal should not be blocked by the Blindness Status Effect. It’s a special killer aura and should stay visible.

3. Longer Aura Duration:
Increase the aura reveal to 20 seconds, matching the Undetectable Status Effect. This sounds strong, but Springtrap can remove it instantly by entering a door, and it finally gives purpose to door-blocking with the Fire Axe.

Balancing Changes

To give him a slight boost:

  • Make part of Restaurant Menu basekit:
Missed Fire Axe cooldown reduced to 6s (from 7s).
  • Nerf the add-on:
Cooldown reduction lowered to 10% (from 20%).

What do you guys think?

I agree with the bloodpoints and I agree Blindness should not block it, it should be treated as a killer-power-related aura that gets an exemption. 20 seconds aura reveal is probably too much though

Yeah I wasn't sure about that change too, I would like to keep it at 10 seconds but that currently doesn't really seem that worth it, but I might be wrong since most of it is blocked by blindness right now, so removing that could do the trick without increasing the duration itself!

I think one thing springtrap needs to get as compensation is the ability to see which security door survivor using cameras is interacting with.

It's so crazy how little can he really interact with people using cameras and while they absolutely do need buffs, the way he needs to be compensated is that ability to be a genuine threat to the person using cameras.

It shouldn't be a grab threat, but simply the ability to quickly approach and engage with the person using cameras by chasing him. Knowing which door to go should be that. Of course, survivors would need a better warning he is coming to their door if he teleports.

One thing to point out tho is: using the cameras is alredy considered almost useless, and going through the doors scares most players from traveling through them. Now if u put this in, using the cameras will simply get the killer to come after you like pinhead with the box, yet its nowhere near as necessary as the box so noone would even want to touch the cameras anymore.

Okay and if you just bluntly buff cameras you'll end up giving survivors another extremely oppressive and effectively uncounterable tool against B tier killer.

He already struggles with countering door traversal because intercepting them requires more unrealistic timing than for dredge locker grab. You want him to also struggle vs cameras? RN your gameplan vs survs using cameras is to 1) ignore them 2) waste your power for the sake of the meme even though it's a massive net loss. That is almost acceptable because so far people dont understand when they need to reveal your aura in chase and otherwise it's not really doing a lot.

Im sorry that bad players are scared of interacting with cameras, they'll be scared anyway, but you can't just mindlessly buff cameras and not give already balanced and mediocre killer something in return.

If your compensation buff is a direct buff to his power then we'd have a situation that the killer is way stronger when survivors are not using cameras and they would be scared of using them anyway except now they are also tremendously punished for not using them which is magnitudes worse than offering people genuine high risk high reward interaction.

If your compensation buff is the ability for springtrap to interact and punish survivors for using stronger cameras then it won't come into play until survivors actually interact with cameras which will mean people who are scared of cameras just don't have to use them and those that aren't will be engaging into an actual interaction with the killer which is a healthy improvement.

I think its accurate to say that using Springtrap's Doors and putting yourself at greater risk is not worth it.
It would be better if it did something more.

However that will be a problem, because lets say if it slowed down Springtrap a little, coordinated survivors could easily make all chases have that more slow. Another better idea could be, that getting revealed by doors takes away his ability to see scratchmarks? Not super powerful, but still pretty good.

Perhaps a better idea would be, if the Survivors use all the power in a door. Springtrap and Survivors take an entire second more to exit there. Its just a second and it would require a lot of use of the doors to bring it to low power.

Or maybe it just takes time for Survivor to get used to, using his power to reveal Springtrap and the looping Survivor basicly have wallhacks on the Killer. its hard to execute in soloqueue but I bet its powerful in a swf.

I wasnt saying they should buff the cameras lol i was just stating the problem with making them more hazardous to use as they alredy barely get used, and that it would lower the chance of usage even more. Like if noone wanted to use turrets against alien because he can see turrets moving from across the map or something

Your explaining why the killer should be buffed, im explaining why the killers counter shouldnt be buffed or nerfed at all, because if a killers counter item does absolutely nothing but hurt the survivor for even using it, then why would it ever be used?

    again,

it needs to be buffed because it's useless.

because it needs to be buffed, the killer needs to be buffed as well.

and the best buff is more ability to interact with the thing being used.

all that buff would do is make predator mandatory since if survivors have a wall hack with no scratch marks all they need is a map with lots of los blockers and he'll be screwed

On maps with a lot of openness where line of sight isnt easily broken, they are borderline useless. However, on indoor maps and around killer shack, they are absolutely brokenly useful. Having the killer's aura revealed in indoor maps and at killer shack can practically guarantee the safety of any survivor half competent at looping. Being able to counter the killer's every movement is fantastic, and im always grateful when im at shack looping him and someone reveals his aura through the cams. Springy usually gives up and leaves the shack at that point due to a lot of wasted time and pressure free gen progress.

In the end, it's maps dependant. Next time someone is bringing him to shack, just pop over to a nearby gen camera and reveal him and watch the shenanigans ensue.
