Why is every killer perk getting nerfed first pentimento now franklins??

Wait what? a barely used niche perk that gets nerfed in an update where a new item is introduced. Thats rich.

Yes, which is why they simply removed its ability to deplete charges instead of giving it something new (like idk, disabling the item when a survivor picks it back up again for X amount of time at the bare minimum) to compensate for that loss in functionality.

Maybe something like a harsh efficiency drop with each hit? Would fit thematically with the idea of a strong killer's weapon impact on it. There are ways.

Yeah, this is why I can't take Scott Jund seriously anymore. I respect his opinion as an individual, but he really needs to spend more time playing killer and less time on survivor. Because his answer to "killers, just take x perk and ez pz" is just tonedeaf, if not wilfully ignorant at this point.

The downvotes are crazy. I genuinely wonder how much thought the community puts into their stances.
If Franklin's actually countered strong items, we'd see a whole lot more killers running Franklin's. It doesn't really do that though. Toolboxes are done by the time you get tagged in most in cases. You only need a couple charges to use an styptic or syringe, so it doesn't even counter the strongest aspect of a medkit. You're never worried about the flashlight that the person you're chasing is holding, so it's not really preventing a flashlight save you wouldn't already be preventing. A smart SWF is just going to drop their items when they know Franklin's is in play.
It's a troll perk. It doesn't actually do what many killers seem to think it does. It's often a 4 out with Franklin's. I've seen the perk maybe once in the last couple weeks.

I run franklins in a few of my builds for one purpose: it encourages survivors to make mistakes.
I cannot tell you how many times that moment of realization causes hesitation that you can capitalize on.
My favorite was one game a cocky survivor went back during egc for a flashlight I had forced them to drop. They gave me extra time and hooks that resulted in 2 additional kills, all because Feng lost sight of escaping and only wanted her flashlight back.
It's still not a great perk (in the sense that it won't automatically win you the match for having it equipped), but it's a fun curveball sometimes.

Well hopefully all these killers saying they are gonna quit do so, so I can get faster queues, thanks.
Don't really care about Franklins, I only really see it being useful with weave attunement.2 -
you do realize that 60% is the goal right? now they're mega buffing survivors (and this is before phase 2) so kill rates are going to go down
i think franklins used to destroy items at one point
healing got buffed again

Even if Franklin's remained the way it was, friend, it wouldn't become part of the meta just to counter Fog Vials.
It is just a bad perk with an annoying effect.

It's a perk that got nerfed and people don't like it when perks on their side get nerfed.
I feel that's really all there is to it.

Thats a weird take. "This perk doesnt do enough, so why not have it do even less".

It isn't exactly a justification for the nerf, my friend, it is a counter point to the complaints regarding the nerf.
Because it is debatable whether or not the nerf was needed, but I don't think it will hurt any playstyles or damage any builds. Franklin's was never a good perk, even its niche use didn't really provide value. The nerf just makes that more obvious, in my honest opinion.

It's not weak at all it's both toxic and OP, it won't be missed imo it's on par with old knock out

I mostly just used it to counter medkits. By default, medkits have exactly enough charges to heal yourself 1 time. If I can deny that and force survivors who would've been spread out to group together for their heals instead... thats enough.Ppl are calling it a "troll perk" because it annoys them when they can't get the full heal off. With THAT thought pattern, I wonder if a Lightborn nerf is next.

I think Franklin's "troll" effect isn't that it makes getting the full heal off impossible, instead I think it has to do with losing your item.
Lightborn doesn't cost you your flashlight, you just don't get any use out of it. If you escape, you can try again.

The irony is alot of the people losing items to Franklin's is the ppl who wait at the exit gates instead of just leaving.
Besides that though... is it REALLY an issue that your item be treated as a consumable? Is it really a big deal to have to dig in from your pile of items? The nerf didnt even change anything about losing your item. That aspect wasn't changed.

That I do not really know, to be honest. I don't remember the last time I ran Franklin's as killer and I don't bring items into trials. The items I lost due to Franklin's were chest items, and I usually lost them mid-chase.
The nerf didnt even change anything about losing your item. That aspect wasn't changed.
True. But it probably will discourage killers from using it though.
Regarding whether or not is is actually a problem… well, probably not if we are looking at the bigger picture and the current state of DBD, there are countless matters that should take priority over Franklin's Demise, but it is the point of frustration with the perk, I would say.

I feel if THAT is the point of frustration, changes should be made to reflect THAT rather than just hope no one will use it. "Nerf it so usage goes down" is a terrible strategy. If they focused the perk on reducing charges rather than losing the item, I think that could be a good way to handle things.

Yes I do know know that is the goal. That is my point, killers crying about survivors being OP at a time when the game has never been more misrsable for survivor. At a time when the bonus basically never moves from survivor anymore.
Go back awhile to when the bonus was the other way and killer queue was super quick, everyone on here was "Nobody wants to play killer because it is soooooo hard which is why the bonus is always on killer and the queues are so quick for killers, you need to nerf survivor" now it has flipped they all still cry about how hard killer is. They always have an excuse as to why they have it harder but will never EVER just accept they aren't amazing at the game and it is absolutely fine to not be the best at playing killer, they can't handle that though.
They think every game should be a 4k at 5 gens or the game is survivor sided

The thing is though is that bhvr only nerfed it because of the new item. It wasn't a problem perk by any means, bhvr looked DIRECTLY at the counter play to this new item and said lets nerf it. If iI'm not mistaken this in and of itself proves that bhvr doesn't balance on stats.
