Ways to deal with the Oblivious Status?
I've seen people answer this by just being "more aware" and that for players with a lot of hours Oblivious doesn't affect them. However being Oblivious is definitely an advantage for the killer so I wanted to ask how do you guys deal with it? Springtrap can utilize stealth a lot although he has a disadvantage where you can hear his super loud steps and many perks like Hex Plaything can give you indefinite Oblivious and you have to waste time trying to get rid of it. Any strategies to try to counter this?

totem hunting perk if you don’t know totem spawns, I like detectives hunch.
As for oblivious always looking around, but teammate aura perks help with situational awareness if that’s a struggle point for you.
Additionally crows fly off whether a killer or survivor is by it, so that’s another way to track what might be going on elsewhere.

Adding on to the previous post, some killers make ambient noises that aren't tied to the terror radius, so listening out for those can be a good way of countering some killers with Oblivious.
Generally though I'd recommend playing it safe and trying to use context clues for where the killer is; see if your teammates are getting chased, that kind of thing.
If you want to be proactive and prepare, perks like Alert are excellent for tracking where the killer is passively, slap that one on for a couple games and see how it treats you.

who has Alert?

Feng Min, who I think is only a base game character if you play on console. If I remember right she's DLC for PC copies of the game, but you can get her with iridescent shards at least.

Oh no I'm PC and I just checked and I do have that perk. I've been grinding out Prestige 3 for everyone lately so I have a lot of Perks I don't know

Hella. It's a pretty good perk, I run it myself sometimes. Great for keeping tabs on the killer throughout the match.
Between that and keeping track of when your teammates are in chase, you should be doing better against stealthy killers!

I usually ignore it on most maps. Especially Plaything, because I don't want to deal with Pentimento…
It can be annoying on indoor maps, but most killers are loud enough to play around it.0 -
As someone who ususally just ignores Plaything unless it's convenient for me to get rid of it, there's various methods you could use to account for the decreased awareness. Many of them do involve perks, but I'll go over a bunch:
Empathy (Claudette Teachable) - This perk shows you the aura of any injured survivor but it also doubles as a way of knowing exactly where the Killer is. If you see on the HUD someone get injured and they are close to you, now you know "oh the killer's chasing near me - I better pay attention/move away". Other survivor aura perks can fulfill a similar purpose but Empathy is the best at it since it's map wide; meaning if you see someone get injured across the map you know that you're safe until they are no longer being chased.
Premonition (General perk) - For experienced players, this perk is very unpopular but it serves a very niche purpose as one of the only perks in the game that works regardless of the Killer's status effects/terror radius. How it works is, when you look in the direction of the killer and they are 36 meters or closer you'll recieve an audio cue. This will let you know "ok the killer is nearby and in that direction". As you get better, you'll no longer need this perk but it can come in handy since it cannot be countered.
Wiretap (Ada Teachable) - Pretty self explanatory, repair a gen and put the wiretap on your gen. If the killer gets close enough you'll see their aura and be able to keep track of them until they kick the gen or leave the area.
Fogwise (Vittorio Teachable) - Another pretty simple one. Hit great skill checks on a gen and reveal the Killer's aura for 6 seconds. Works really well for keeping track of Killers, only issue is RNG reliance.
Kindred (General perk) - An incredible perk for awareness. After the killer hooks someone, you should get a general idea where your teammates are and which direction the Killer is going in. This also applies if you are the one hooked which can be really clutch for your team. Very solid choice
There's are just a few that spring to my mind.

Thanks for the perk suggestions. Ada's seems really interesting

Yeah it's a really fun perk!
A wiretap will reveal the Killer once they come within 14m of the generator which isn't a huge radius but it should be enough to see the Killer coming and not be taken by surprise unless it's a stealth killer like Ghost Face or Pig for example.

I would second the ambient Killer sounds, like Myers' breathing or the flapping of Ghostface's cloak. I also learned from playing Lights Out that each Killer has their unique footstep sounds.

every killer has their own footsteps? Even the old guys like Trapper, Wraith and Hillbilly?

Yeah, they'll have footsteps. You may not hear them most of the time. I know you'd definitely hear Trapper's breathing sounds and Billy and Wraith's growls.

agreed I love alert.

I've seen people answer this by just being "more aware" and that for players with a lot of hours Oblivious doesn't affect them. However being Oblivious is definitely an advantage for the killer so I wanted to ask how do you guys deal with it?So being more aware is the general answer to lessen the advantage, but its always going to be an advantage.
Not going to reiterate the excellent points on sound and perks, but to add three more -
1: If possible, especially if you are on death hook and others aren't, be selective of which gens you do. Position yourself in places that give you a pretty wide visual view of the map and/or the likely route a killer is going to come. This takes away your ability to potentially stealth away, but the info you gain is more important.
2: Keep an eye out for visual signs. This can be things like crows flying, but also on some maps you have things like corn that will move as an object passes through it.
3: On awareness, have a general timer in your head (this is probably the one that just takes playing a lot). If you're oblivious and a different survivor goes down and gets hooked, how far are you from the hook? How long would it take that killer to reach you? Well if it would take 10 seconds, as an example, and no other chase has started within those 10 seconds, unless you think the killer is camping the hook, there is a really good chance they are coming for you.

Keep the goal of the killer in mind if they're playing around the Oblivious status effect. They're trying to get easy tags on players who are injured and out of position.
To counter that, play a bit more conservative. Don't try to do a gen while injured when the killer isn't chase with a teammate. People do this against Wraith all the time and I'll never understand it. It's almost always a throw. Be patient and stay healed. A lot of killers will get frustrated when they aren't getting easy downs off hit and run.

depends on the killer; you mentioned Springtrap for example; I think perma Oblivious such as through Plaything is actually bad for them; if you know they are sneaky, you will be listening for them and cannot surprise you.
the ones you should worry about are the dangerous killers you want to stay away from like Bubba or Kaneki

Vigil from Quentin is really good atm and lowers the duration of limited time oblivious status by 40%, it’s such a good perk.

- Depending on the map, "Oblivious" doesn't really do anything. If the map allows it, I never purify "Plaything"; it's just a waste of time. The stupidest thing (which I always see done) is to put these "Oblivious" perks with Aliens, when the turrets warn you regardless of the Alien's presence... but some killers don't really understand how the game works (or don't play enough Survivor). To answer your question, just keep your eyes (and ears) open.

I also remember being Oblivious against an Artist, and I learned what kinds of sounds she makes without a terror radius. The sound she makes is like swaying feathered wings or something...that's the best way I can think of to describe it.
But it could also be because of the cosmetic she was wearing. I'm also learning that Killers might make different sounds from different cosmetics. For example, I like the Huntress's outfit from the recent rift (I forget the name, but it's the one with the helm and chains and stuff), but I hate the sound of her footsteps with it...

The only consistent way to deal with it is being in a swf with comms, but people won't admit it

A good headset can help alot. Assuming your hearing isn't too bad you should be able to hear most killers when they get close footsteps, breathing, etc. Alert was mentioned but if you can hit great skill checks with any regularity Fogwise might be an idea. It's a Vittorio perk that shows the killers aura for 6 seconds (I think) whenever you hit a great skill check.

what about swc? (survive with crows)
if the killer chases another survivor that isn't oblivious then my crow bros holler at me
