Devs are killing DBD by license-spamming & balancing the game
Just as the title says. DBD has come to a point where they're releasing more licenses than original characters and at this point I'm just tired. DBD isn't DBD anymore. They're just player-farming to get more people into the game and the people who actually enjoyed the game for what it was are slowly losing interest because of it. I understand that they need to produce content that will earn them more players and more money but they're adding so much content so fast that everything just feels recycled at this point. Killer powers are reused, skins are recolored, you name it. As many have said before me, we would rather wait for a longer time to get truly unique content than some recycled mashed-up content. It's exactly how every popular game nowadays have ended up; without it's own identity.
Balancing - how it's killing the game
Another point i'd like to mention is the balancing of DBD. This is another way that the devs are making the game less distinguished. By taking away every tech, every little thing that is somewhat "too good" or "too unbalanced" they're just making the game less fun for everyone. Of course there were/are techs without any counterplay but techs like the hugtech for Blight are very easy to learn to counterplay for survivors. Nowadays new players don't have any real challenge when playing against killers who they know the powers of, and it's all because of balancing. I remember when I first started playing and struggling bad against certain killers who would do techs and plays that I could not figure out how to counterplay. But that was fun part for me. Learning how to counterplay. I would feel so much satisfaction when finally learning how to avoid this tech or this play. It's just not the same anymore.
Nerfing challenges - and removing TOMES
I also just want to mention the recent updates to the challenges. It's the dumbest update I've seen yet. Making players not even have to play the game for more than 2 hours to complete the rift. Obviously an over exaggeration but still. This game is not a silly little game that you can play for 10 minutes before putting on your pyjamas and going to bed. It's a game that takes time and focus. It WAS a game you would have to grind to get the things you want. Now it's come to a point where you barely have to touch the game to get everything from the rift etc. And most of the things you earn, you can just pay for later. And it's all because of the FOMO side of the DBD community. You all should understand that IF you want items/cosmetics in a game, then maybe you should actually prioritise playing the game instead of doing other stuff. I don't know what type of impossible situations you live in where it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to have 2-days off from work or have a few hours of time, a week, that you can spend doing whatever you like. This is the time you spend on grinding a game you enjoy and feeling accomplishment. And if you don't have any time to play games…. maybe you should work towards that instead. Ya'll should just stop complaining about this. It's literally that simple.

Bro there is so much ######### in this game now and you are complaining they are making it easier to get the things you need? They have to make the game less grindy so newcomers can catch up and not spend 500+ hours getting every perk. Also not all of us have the time or want to grind the game all day on the little days off we have. There is more to life than DBD.

The licensed content is not the problem. The problem is the sheer incompetence of the developers, and their apparently disregard of the Survivor's experience.
Every new Killer they release is often overpowered, they buff Killers who don't need it, nerf Survivor stuff that was never a problem for anyone but bad Killer players, and rarely add anything that can even remotely make the Survivor experience better.
The Fog Vial they're adding is a step in the right direction, but considering the bad and / or toxic Killer players who are mad about the item, it's probably going to get nerfed or removed.

I'm going to preface this by saying that while I get where you're coming from, I don't exactly agree with everything that's being said.
I do think that the rush of licensed killers is a bit much, and I don't totally agree with the choices for licensing. It feels like the game is moving away from it's original horror film themes, which makes me sad—I'm a lifelong horror fan, and an academic who writes predominantly about horror in popular culture. Dead By Daylight's origins as a love letter to classic horror films is very dear to my heart. I'd love to see more original killers from the devs, or more killers that are rooted in the same kind of classic iconic horror that we saw a lot more of in the earlier days of the game.
Balancing is not a bad thing. I get the appeal of having to kind of struggle through and figure out how to counter certain things. A fond pasttime of mine & my partner's is playing extreme trials and raids in FFXIV together with zero knowledge of the mechanics, and having to just trial and error our way to success as a duo in what's supposed to be a four to eight player match. So trust me, I am a huge fan of having to trial and error and figure out how best to counter certain mechanics and techniques. But the problem is, the vast majority of balancing that is happening is happening specifically because there is no reasonable counterplay. You have to remember that balancing can't just be for top MMR players, it has to be for the majority of the playerbase.
Quite frankly, a lot of people live in situations where they simply don't have the time or energy to grind heavily in every game they enjoy. People have work, people have school, people have families, personal responsibilities, pets, homes to take care of, errands, friends, and a life outside of playing DBD. If you're in a position where you always have an excess of time to play DBD, good for you! But that's a privilege and simply not the reality for a lot of players. FOMO is, at its core, a predatory marketing practice, and would just be bad for the longeveity of the game and consistency of it's player base.

I agree with you, all new killers have a ranged anti-loop ability, some sort of teleportation or movement ability in addition to their regular power. I'm assuming they did this under the guise of balance, but it's just that no new killer is unique.
This new feature where you can't attempt to escape the hook is garbage, there were two people on the hook and two downed survivors and I couldn't even try. So what if people want to go next, or escape the hook, its a nuisance for sure but that's part of the game. I'm a survivor main but slugging, it's part of the game. Camping, it's a strategy too. If I didn't have friends who play the game, I would have been stopped once they nerfed the stun duration for the killers. I never used dead hard after its initial nerf(distance nerf), but limiting its usage to twice per trial? Absolute garbage.

There is just so much they can create.
We Need a goth? We got sable.
Cute asian? Feng
Redhead? Manly guy? Etc
Its becoming harder to BE original even with killer so licenses or colabs are needed.
Like, you expect me to drop my p65 Mika for a new surv with barely any cosmetics?
Taking every tech away? What. Game is already Toxic and Theres already perks like noed for killers to get Wins they don't deserve. Its fine to make tunneling a bit worse. Its improves player experience. Like yeah killers want that easy win. But its 4 others players experience that suffer not just 1.
Theres plenty of tomes and more might come in the future still.
