🔪 Poll: What If Survivors Could Kill Each Other?
Imagine this: you're on the hook, sacrificed to the Entity… but instead of being out of the game, you're changed. One survivor returns as a twisted version of themselves, corrupted by the Entity, and now they can hunt or sabotage the remaining survivors.
This “Corrupted Survivor” could:
- Attack other survivors.
- Help the killer, or act as a wildcard with their own win condition.
Here’s a possible twist:
If they cause two hook states (directly or indirectly), they’re granted a second chance at life, they lose their corruption and resume play as a normal survivor with one less hook state.
📊 How would you feel about a killer power or killer mechanic like this?
- 🔥 That sounds amazing, chaos and betrayal!
- 🤔 Could be fun if balanced carefully
- 😐 Not really a fan of PvP between survivors
- ❌ Absolutely not, ruins the spirit of teamwork
Optional open-ended question:
“What would make this work or feel fair to you?”

😐 Not really a fan of PvP between survivors
I'd like the idea for a separate game mode, but as is it'd just make Survivor feel more pointless.

What do you mean "if"?

Haha are you referring to sandbagging? I'd consider that griefing and against the game rules because they are maliciously sabotaging the rest of the team outside of the normal gameplay loop.
If there was a killer with a specific mechanic that allowed a Corrupted Survivor to injure other survivors in exchange for coming back into the game, I think that would become part of the gameplay loop for that specific killer and not griefing.1 -

I think it would actually incentivized saving your team mates a lot more. If you don't unhook, or if you don't take protection hits, your dead squad mate will come back to haunt you, litterally.

That worked pretty OK in Resident Evil Outbreak since it was PVE, but for PVP I think it'd be healthier to have a mechanic similar to Friday The 13th or Killer Klowns where you come back to help your teammates. Adding friendly fire to that would make it more akin to F13 which could be a lot of fun.

I always thought it would have been great if a zombie or vampire killer could turn survivors into minions as they are ready to be sacrificed to give the killer help and to give the survivors more playtime too.
The onky way it would work is by giving the killer the ability to instantly dispose of them at any moment of their choosing just incase the new survivor minions do not want to cooperate with the killer

Alternate idea: theres a new player mode called 'haunting' who lives on another plane of existence called the spirit world and helps the killer behind the scenes by sabotaging gens and occasionally manifesting to get hits. After a survivor dies they enter the spirit realm they have the ability to try and distract the haunting by preventing his sabotages and revealing his location.

Anyone who regularly plays soloq already knows and doesn't need to ponder "what if?"

❌ Absolutely not, ruins the spirit of teamwork
My teammates already kill me in the game enough, I don't want to deal with griefers.
This also adds increased complexity and inter-community avarice without explicitly ADDING to the game's overall experience.
"If something bad happens to you, you get to ruin the enjoyment of your 3 teammates by creating an imbalance in the game"
Not for DbD.
It would make for an interesting game - I'd like to see it done, but it cannot fit in Dead By Daylight's current design philosophy of hope, hunt, suffering, and sacrifice.0 -
❌ Absolutely not, ruins the spirit of teamwork
When your teammates are more competent and do their job better, they will invariably let you hang and may risk a second hook phase. They may take protection hits for you, but if they're doing their job right they will be in another zip code while you're in chase.
It's true that when bad survivors refuse to help their friends or choose to protect themselves over an ally it can be frustrating, but the price they typically pay for in these matches is with their own lives. Survivors that are not coordinated and are scared of being injured do not perform well in matches. Giving the option to heap on punishment when your allies are already scattered and disorganized would be a coup de grace that would smother a potential comeback.
You're not wrong that seeing bad teammates get their comeuppance would be satisfying - but this would also open the door for bad faith actors and even those same selfish souls to ruin a good comeback, throw away their own win, or obliterate their own MMR by punishing survivors that are playing smart instead of "how that player wants". Worsley, it would impact newcomers to the franchise the most.
I can see many times this would get my friends to giggle and scream over Discord and laugh for a few matches, but I can also see many, many more ways this could destroy an already frail balancing act in both the game's meta and this wonderful community.0 -

would the killer just be able to walk through them? if not then iI'd just bodyblock for my team and let my team free
yknow unless they didn't save me… then I'd make sure they all died even if I don't come back. im very spitefull

Ideally, the killer could simply kick them out of the game at any point and let a bot take over. So if you want to participate in the fun little game mode, you can, but if you try sabotaging the killer you'd just get kicked into spectator mode.

how would they do it? I mean computer could just look at them and press a keybind but Xbox and playstation couldn't

Sounds like an awfully lot of effort to create a robust admin controlled lobby kick system as a safety net for an obviously flawed and fatally unbalanced idea in the first place.

I'd take this over my living teammates doing it. : )
