Chat function for console players
I‘m playing on ps5 and I really don‘t understand why the devs make such a big drama out of the chat function for console.
I just want to be able to communicate! There is nothing wrong to take a bit longer to write out stuff. If people don‘t want to wait, so be it, but it is actually manageable to write on the console TV keyboard thing. Apex, Minecraft, Texas and other games have it and I can write what I want just fine.
I don‘t need any improvements or anything fancy. I just want to get the ability to write and interact with people in the post/pre game and in the lobby. After all it still is not possible to contact someone you found in game to maybe play with them.
What are your thoughts?💭

In reality no chat is better.
Maybe we someday get like a chat wheel with gg, and well played.
I am not sure they want to deal with any toxicity on Sony or MS platforms as these companies tend to censor more and more and this will probably get worse in the future.

We see in a lot of games, such as Marvel Rivals and such, that often console players take a lot of abuse from PC players, simply because console players cannot type back efficiently on a pad, so a keyboard warrior can go to town.
So I'm rather uninterested in a console chat... but if it is added, I would also like a feature to automatically mute it every game.

Yeah I don't know why it's so big deal? Writing slowly should not be reason why it isn't added. Most write anyway short replies like Gg or wp so it's not problem. I believe most in fact have access to keyboard they can hook on console if that chat option was added.

What do you mean with Sony and Microsoft ? I never had any issues with Sony as a PlayStation player.

Agree there should be an option to turn it off if you don‘t want to deal with it, but there is no good reason to not allow someone to use it if they want to use it.

"we're open do ideas of what console players would expect from endgame chat"
How about say four options you can press for "GG" …"Well played"…."Amazing killer"…"Amazing survivors" and nothing more. There is no reason to open up for toxic messages on console also but having only a few options and all of them positive then why not?

The devs very often allude to end game chat being incredibly toxic and not wanting to implement it again for others to endure. Your communication wheel is the only thing I can see them wanting to do. 😂

Yea it’s frustrating. It’s been years and you cannot even communicate with pc players I haven’t even said a word to friends I’ve been playing with for years.

A half in half out solution still makes no sense. Why is it too toxic to expose consoles to it, but just fine to expose PC.

There is no issue. We should be able to. Consoles let us use keyboards. lol.
Just give us the option. Please1 -
And you can't even ask what their discord is, lol

Yep that‘s what frustrates me the most. I had this issue so many times already.

Thats the only benefit of getting teamed up with a ttv. If you want to keep playing with them, you have a way to reach out.

Remember, only a super low minority of players who spent several hundred dollars on a console can afford a USB keyboard
Check your privilege, lol

You're honestly not missing much with the chat box, as it's primarily used for toxicity. I feel it should be scrapped with a chat wheel using dialogue options outside and during the match, similar to what DBDMobile had. Solo queue would benefit from having dialogue and communication, even if it's simple.

Tbf they may regret having made chat for PC.

They are not always the nicest companies.
I don´t think Bhvr want to risk getting problems with them because of harrassment that could happen.

98% of post-game chat interactions are toxic, including death threats, racial slurs, and references to some of the most disgusting human behavior imaginable. Consoles not having it is a blessing, and chat should be eliminated for the PC players. There are zero good reasons to have it and a million good reasons to not have it.

Every game that offers any chat function would be just as likely to get flack. If the makers of CoD, Warframe, Marvel Rivals, Overwatch, Helldivers 2, ect are all safe, why would BHVR think Sony and Microsoft would pay them special attention?

They give you the option of adding ppl to your friends list so you can SWF up with them, but can't then ask that same person "hey, what's your discord btw"
