Fog Viles are absolutely useless why are killers complaining?
The fog is baso transparent and a killer has always found survivors fine in the fog during my games, another useless item like keys and maps. Why are killers complaining?

They're afraid that coordinated Survivors are gonna body them, when in reality most of the player base is going to use them at bad times or not at all.

Because survivors already have multiple tools to extend chases, Fog Vials just make things harder for killers without offering any real compensation or counterplay.
-7 -
they aren’t useless if you use them correctly, the problem is they’re too frequent and literally brain dead to use, just drop and get value

I was worried at start as well with my michael build but yeah as you said "useless" i wouldnt call it useless i would say people sometimes use them in really wrong places and at wrong times and i basically catch up to them and stick with them.
I had a decent team i cant tell for sure if premade or not but they did well at cordinating it while unhooking + trading hits, the healer and the unhooked guy got away and i caught up with the fog vial user

I haven't tried them myself but so far my soloq teammates have been using them pretty poorly. They also don't seem super popular for a new item. My party-mates haven't tried them yet and neither have I, and I don't feel much inclination to do so.
I haven't seen how they are on killer end yet.

I've tested them against bots and they're fine as most killers (negligible even) but I think their main problem is that they mess with spirits power, possibly cause a chase bug (although I did experience this against a meg with a flashlight so it may be something else) and have a lack of accessibility settings. I can easily see the brightness of these things triggering something like photosensitivity and chronic migraines. I think the idea is good but they need a few edits or configurations.

do they disable aura reading?
-1 -
I’ve had a lot of success with them, they aren’t meant to be effective 100% of time and when and where you use it makes a huge difference. So I can understand why some players might get frustrated. I imagine people will get better with them overtime

No, but most survivors aren’t standing still waiting to be read like a book either.
-1 -
They're "useless" because people pop them in your face.
3 -
Yes! They remove aura reading, scratchmarks, and survivor noises.
But they don't remove killer noises! Survivors can hear killers, but killers can't hear survivors!!!

I knew it covered noises and scratch marks, aura too is probably a bit much. I feel like -maybe-IF the killer brings aura perks the smoke bombs shouldn’t interfere with that. Thank you for the answer. I haven’t had the chance to experience it from the killer side yet.
What do you think?

I was under the assumption it was just a smoke bomb, so I missed the detail on the aura as well.

They are really good and fair in my opinion. Survivors need to play the fog well to escape or be lucky and as killer I find them most the time. I really enjoy them.

As a survivor I have had extremely minimal value from them as it's easy to see through even with iri add on but maybe with a bit more practice they'll be more useful. I've yet to play as a killer against them.
Nevertheless I'm happy to see survivors get something new

Fog vials really freakin' suck if you're playing as Myers/Ghostie or Singularity since the clouds can block your ability to stalk or tag survivors with your cameras. I hope they end up fixing that aspect at least.

- I think they shouldn't block any audio.
- The iri addon still blocks too much visually
- Survivors in a fog cloud should still be considered "in line of sight"
- The fog effect should stack with a map's natural fog effect

The wiki is missing the fact that the fog blocks survivor noises, but doesn't block killer noises.

Used it against camping booba. He tried to use chainsaw on me but because of fog didn’t notice texture and stuck. That’s silly bomb saved my life
U are not supposed to pop it in front of killer face and use them to run to opposite direction out of fog where killer will catch up. U literally don’t need any skill requirements for using this items but somehow few people still mess up with it while that’s actually fine item to use in critical situation. A lot of killers suffer because of this item and being dependent of having LOS or sounds

They got nerfed even before hitting live servers and they decided to butcher the visceral add-on as well which was the only thing that could make the item minimally useful.
If you're being fooled by fog vials right now, it means you don't have the slightest gameplay awareness, but as usual, we have to overreact to every little thing.-2 -
thanks so much I haven’t had a chance to sit and read through, just play for a few hours, sleep, and work. I had people waiting on me when I got on yesterday so I haven’t got the chance to read through everything and was just winging it in trial. All of that to say thanks for the link.

Considering the difference in FOVs, its good to see it from both sides to really see how easy it is to see through.

They're just a lame item that you pop before the killer gets close enough and it either wastes a ton of their time or the killer is able to guess where you went so it does little. I think more visual clutter/hiding stuff was not what survivor needed.

People are so uncreative, they can be that or you can actually be a good player and pair them with vigil+ sprint burst to keep using main building loops and losing chase so no entity block or bloodlust.
You basically create a situation where the killer has to give up the chase.

- It should either block audio or aura you choose(I think aura makes more sense and would rather lose the noises) #makeyourchoice, but either way 2-3 charges flat for the item.2 for aura blocking, 3 if it’s noise
- It can be toned down a little.
- no, it’s a smoke bomb your visually impaired, outside of it yes.
- Like natural or like with offerings?

The problems with the vials are;
-They have unlimited charges. No other item in the game has unlimited uses during a match. In a worst case scenario, a coordinated team bent on trolling the killer could stagger the use of four blue fog vials with the recharge reduction add on to keep these up for 44 seconds with an 11 second window before the next barrage.
-They create accessibility issues. Even post-PTB nerf, the iridescent add on makes the fog vials opacity dense enough, and the sound muted enough, to cause players with vision and hearing problems to experience issues. This, coupled with the duration of the fog vials and the constant use throughout a trial due to unlimited charges has lead to miserable play experiences for players. After BHVR's big push towards adding improved accessibility features to the game in the last few years, the inclusion of the fog vials seems incredibly tone deaf, even after these issues were brought to their attention during the PTB.
-They are causing game breaking bugs. It is strongly suspected that the current Chase bug that is plaguing killers is tied to the Fog Vials effect. If you are not aware, after a Fog Vial is used, Killers can lose the ability to begin a Chase, which prevent the gaining of Bloodlust, and worse, never triggers the 3x window blocker mechanic. This makes several main building tiles infinites. Without the ability to start a chase, the Pig can run a survivor with an active head trap down, chasing them from Jigsaw boxes until their head pops. The fog vials completely negate the Singularities ability to use their power. They may be leading to weird effects like allowing Sprint Burst to refresh mid-chase while exhausted, or breaking the Knight's Guard's ability to continue an active Hunt. The fog vials are tied to game breaking bugs in the most bizarre ways, and really need to be killswitched until it all gets sorted out.0 -
It already blocks auras. So allowing the killer to hear survivor noises would
1] Fog vials blocking auras is fine. But blocking survivor audio is too much
3] It's literally messing up chases right now, to the point where they won't start. It's also messing up some killer powers, even if the killer can plainly see the survivor in the fog. And this has to be a bug, because some killer powers are allowed to "see" through the fog, and some aren't.
4] The fog vials shouldn't stack with any other fog effect.

- I agree to the terms and conditions, they can bring perks to suppress noises. Suppressing aura and scratchies is very strong in itself and makes sense for the item. Noises not so much.
3. If you’re in chase already it shouldn’t affect chase if they drop it mid chase and you’re still on them. If you’re not already in chase it shouldn’t start chase, unless you’ve smacked em at least once in it. If your both out of of the fog it should obviously start chase. I’m hearing mixed things. I agree it should be looked into regardless.
4. fair enough, it’s already strong on its’ own.0 -
Why shouldn't it start chase? Survivors should be immune to entity blocking windows, and immune to killers gaining bloodlust, for the entire time a fog cloud is up?
0 -
that’s not what I’m saying, or implying. If you are obviously chasing them in the fog those things should apply yes.

They are useless, if players don't know how to use them. As about anything in DBD… but good luck finding a survivor, if they just pop it as soon you get nearby (15-20 meters).
They suck a lot for ranged killers and killers with limited camera movement.0 -
isn't he talking about the bug, where killer simply can't enter chase for rest of the game? That is definetly beyond broken part of vials.
0 -
idk. I thought that’s what they were saying, and yeah they should fix that. Obviously a bug.
