Fixing Clown Wouldn't Be That Hard
…At least insofar as stabilising his current position. I'm of the opinion he needs a proper update at some point, but here I'm mostly referring to his current state after the most recent update.
I would suggest four changes:
- Adjust yellow bottle activation speed to somewhere between what it was and where it is.
With yellow bottles activating this quickly, it kinda ensures Clown players can just replace mindless purple spam thrown at survivors with mindless yellow spam thrown right in front of them. The activation did need to be made faster, it was a problem before, but this is a little too far. Somewhere between the two numbers would be great.
- Revert Hindered linger duration.
In my opinion, BHVR walked back the wrong nerf from the PTB. The combination of less percentage and less linger was far too much, but it was the shortened linger duration that really hurt him the most, especially for the kind of thoughtful mid-loop placements that these changes are ostensibly meant to encourage.
Let the Hindered last for two seconds again, and do two additional nerfs:
- Use PTB values for Hindered percentage.
Self explanatory, I just explained how that was the better nerf. In addition, and this is the one change that would make this not a hotfix change:
- Make it so Hindered cannot be re-applied until after it has fully worn off.
This would severely harm mindless purple spam just to catch up, but wouldn't necessarily harm more thoughtful use of the bottle. Between the lessened percentage and the fact that you'd have to manually time in your head when to throw for just catching up, Clown would be noticeably weaker at low-effort use of his power, but with the increased Haste, faster activation on yellows, and reload buffs, he'd be a bit stronger and definitely a lot nicer to play for higher-effort uses of the power.
Again, I do think Clown needs more than this overall, but in the short term I think this addresses the new, current problems.

Agree with reverting Hindered linger duration.
Just revert the antidote activation back to 2 seconds. It was fine the way it was and it shouldn't have been touched. It was short enough that it was consistently useful but just long enough that you had to be a little more strategic with it (and also wouldn't accidentally give it to survivors if you threw the bottle far ahead of you). It really should not have been lowered, at all.
If 12% haste stays in basekit then the addons that increase the haste percentage should be lowered back to PTB values. It should never be over 15% even with addons. The current 17% is too high.
Further nerfs to the Hindered percentage are unnecessary imo, nerfing Bleach was enough. 14% basekit with 2 second linger is fine.

It really wasn't fine. It wasn't weak, but it was awkward, finicky, and annoying to use- if you're going to weaken solely using purple bottles, then using yellow bottles needs to be less of an obstacle than it was prior to the changes.
Which, for the record, I approve of. Making Clown take a little more skill (or more accurately, pushing people towards the skill expression that's already there) is an actively good idea, I'm very on board.
I could see nerfing the Haste addons, though, I hadn't thought of that. I could agree with the max w/ addons being 15%, that seems fair.

I never felt like it was that finnicky ever since they lowered it to 2 seconds honestly. Idk, they could try 1.8 but much lower than that I think would be a problem. It definitely was finnicky back when it used to be 2.5 seconds though.
I don't really want pinks lowered below 14% because the hindered percentage should be higher than the haste. The haste lasts much longer (even if the hindered linger time gets reverted), and is also being applied to the Clown's higher base movement speed as well (compared to survivor speed), so it's worth a bit more in terms of the actual speed differential in m/s. Having said that, the old 19% with Bleach was obnoxious and I definitely don't want that back either.
But yeah, it might've been like 65/35 in favor of pink bottles before, but right now it's 90/10 in favor of yellows.
