Fog is weak
i really want to like the fog but its been kinda useless. For example maybe it was just dumb luck but i use fog and am booking it away from killer shack and dude still shoots me no problem with harpoon from inside killer shack and just pulls me in and downs me. Its a cool idea but its supposed to blind the killer not just be a light fog cloud where they just follow you regardless cause they can completely see you anyways. So i rather have to use it way before they even see me which also makes me think why am i using this then cause its a big red flag that say here i am or ive been in the area come find me. They need to make it harder to see survivors in cloud.

It would be unfair for the fog to completely blind the killer. It CAN blind the killer in some instances especially when you can use haste to get away fast but I've had some survivors pop fog right in front of me when I play killer and I can still see them since I'm almost on top of them, they only lose me after they gain haste from my injury and only if they bother to loop me even a little bit but if they run in a straight line I'm still going to see them.
I like that Fog has to be used smartly and not as a free escape every time even if the killer is on top of you. Like I said used with haste/exhaustion perks or to create an aura dead zone to prevent aura reading when unhooking or healing would be better ways to use it.

I had a twins run me into the rpd basement and trap me in a locker with Victor but I dropped a smoke and snuck into another locker
we just gotta get creative!

yeah I wouldn’t say weak but it depends on which angle you’re looking at it from, what you’re pairing it with, and your Strat. Aura denial in general is strong, I wouldn’t say OP but solid.
1 -
since it denies auras too I've been sometimes popping it on hook to play around some things like BBQ. on indoor levels like RPD those smokes really hotbox the whole place too its like there's a whole party in the East Wing. it seems the smoke has elevation

It's very strong if you use it out of chase. Makes you effectively permanently immune to BBQ and chili so you can keep speed rushing gens, makes you invulnerable to the effects of lethal persuer at the beginning of the match, helps cover your escape if the killer is heading in your direction, helps with unhooking and giving the survivor a better chance at ducking out of danger, and so on. It's weakness is using it strictly in chase.
2 -
It's strongest outside of chase, before the killer is in the fog with you.
As others said, the aura blocking is undeniably powerful, on top of the lack of scratchmarks made inside for its duration. I recommend popping it when the killer is approaching your generator, the killer will have no idea if you decided to leave, hide in a locker, hide in the nearest corner, or by the nearest rock.

I like it best indoors too :) hahaha totally right looks like a hotbox and eyeluvet

i agree you need to get creative with it but i also popped it and ran into locker and it still made noise. Which i usually will use head on with fog just to be safe.

The fog vial is a powerful item if you use it in the right way.
- it's good against ranged killers.
- it hides the hook's aura from the killer.
- It has unlimited use.
- Sometimes it can blind the killer.

bro how bright do you have your screen turned up?

@HeroLives It's edited. Look at the UI on the left side of the screen.

Rubbish lol that is because of your settings, not the vials

What about the UI?.
Console players are the best players, and they're always smart;

You must be one of those who say "crosshair in DbD is cheating"

My pc probably costs more than you could sell your car for, but sure.
We can clearly see the distinction between the first picture's UI and the second's.
Maybe you're just bad with ReShade settings, I could make a short tutorial for you. Levels and Curves are kinda hard to tweak for newbies.-2 -
I've been wondering why so many killers are claiming to have problems with fog vials when they're honestly not even bad. Makes me wonder now how many killers are using programs like Reshade and they actually want the vials gone because it clashes with their settings 🙄

Well, when I think about some collab streamer videos, some (killer) players have their gamma on full blast and graphics set low just to gain any advantage possible.
So, looking at the screenshot, for some killer players fog vial might as well be a flash bang 😂

The fog effects aren’t consistent. They are much more difficult to see through on maps that have a basekit fog effect.
There is also something happening, that makes the fog effect way brighter sometimes. As in, I could see a fog vial being used 5 times on the same map, and for whatever reason, the 5th time is way brighter than the others. I want to test if it involves environmental lighting (i.e. fire barrels), but there’s definitely something weird happening.

I can test it later with you if you want. I’m on ps5 but I have discord so you can just tell me what you want me to run, where to stand ect and we can go to all maps

please do give me the solution to me going legally blind with sadako in indoor maps
or how to not go blind when im using the dredge's power
without using reshade that is or nivdia's filters
they might have fixed the issue with maps being dark, but bugs or badly designed effects are still in the game
and forget that, not everyone can see perfectly or hear perfectly, reshade and other programs can help both sides
but sure this is just "killers" thing
its why they added the heartbeat visual you lemon

I have no solution for you. I am hard of hearing (grandfather and aunty were both deaf, hearing issues are in my genes) and wear strong prescription glasses *and* have my couch pushed up close to my TV just so I can play. And I still have zero issues with the fog vials, nor have I needed to adjust my settings. Even in indoor maps - I've played on Lerys and Hawkins, not to mention various main buildings and still had no issues seeing survivors through them.
If you are getting bright lights with no filters or reshades, then report it as a bug as that's evidently not an intended effect. If you are noticing discrepancies between the effects on various maps, then report it as a bug as that's evidently not an intended effect. Why should 'completely gut or remove the new item after a week' be the only option put forth by folks having issues?
The devs have indicated they are open to addressing accessibility issues. They have the visual heartbeat, yes, as well as colourblind settings. If those aren't adequate, then advocate for better. Do you have a thread about this? Happy to throw support behind it.

The only options I've put forth have been specifically avoiding overnerfing. Can't speak for others, but I'll sooner just quit the game then have them make a token adjustment that doesn't address the issues and just piss off everyone evenly. Now that its already in the game, they can only really provide ways for people to attempt to compensate (whether settings, perks, or less tracking elements affected)
-1 -
What specific changes did you want to see? I did try and have a look sorry, but your profile is private. I dont have an issue with the changes to unlimited usage. They are still an inconvenience at worst (kind of the point though, I know) so I'm not gonna complain about seeing them go off less within a game. But i think the changes to opacity are just going to make an already average item not worth survivors bringing, and I'd rather see the vials than toolboxes and flashlights, personally.
1 -
Yep, they went in the wrong direction. The starting point would be a means to counter it, generally via a perk at first, until they can maybe find a non-intrusive way to incorporate it basekit later. They could alternatively only nerf it in the number of elements it hides, so as to allow for ways to potentially compensate. But anything else would be a balance focused adjustment and not really an accessibility one.

Well, they're definitely weak now with the nerf. We finally had a step in the right direction to finally make the game even remotely fair, and now BHVR is backtracking and making that item, which was clearly intended to aid in combating tunneling, impossible to perform its primary job. What's even worse, the add-ons already didn't really help the Fog Vials, now it makes even less sense to use them.
I just want to know why the developers hate Survivors so much. It's like all of their decisions are made to specifically ruin any chance of anyone wanting to play Survivor. Makes you wonder why they even bother keeping the mode around instead of just making this a PvE game - cause it's clear they want you to only play Killer.

just reminded me of how the two situations were handled

visual heartbeat only shows up for the survivor, not the killer lol

It's so disappointing and I truly don't know why they bothered. I don't want to play killer all the time but they're really not convincing me otherwise.
3 -
Might as well delete them entirely. They're just bloodweb clutter at this point. Same for "buffed" maps and keys for that matter.
2 -
Here is a video comparison of the fog vials before and after the patch. Thoughts?
2 -
As awful as expected, and matches how useless they were when I played killer tonight. Just delete them so they stop wasting my bloodpoints. I'll definitely remember this the next time we're told we have to "wait and see" or "just learn and adapt" when a new busted killer like Ghoul releases.

Same as before not to be used in chase because they were already mild before. Feel like playing nothing but personal cakes.
