Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Long time player, very disappointed

I've been sticking with this game since ghost face came out. This release has me so bummed I'm close to quitting. Devs… the communication has been so good recently, what happened? What made you think these clown changes could make it to live? Why are you always contradicting yourselves lately?

The bugs are horrible. I wanted to main hound master, even p100'ed her in hopes I would have a kennel of dogs… but instead I get one anniversary top and a dog who gets stuck on every turn. With no real communication or updates.

I'm getting a little tired of non-stop, highly profitable licenses being added… only for constant bugs, sub-par cosmetics, and highly questionable balance changes to be introduced in return. Perhaps it's time to hire back some employees and cut down on Mathieu's silk bow tie fund?

I feel very disappointed with BHVR lately as well, but unfortunately they’re just going to keep putting out the same sloppy and broken content because people keep paying for it and the player count is higher than ever. Nothing will change unless large number of players leave the game and revenue starts to drop significantly.

Oh, I feel you. Been around since almost the beginning too, and y — I really miss the OG devs. I totally get your frustration. But I still have fun with the game and try to stay nuanced in my view.

I mean, the team and DbD itself have grown so much — there are so many separate teams now. Sure, I’d also prefer fewer bugs and glitches, more fixes, and fewer skins being pushed out all the time… but honestly, the design team isn’t really to blame for the things that frustrate me most.

All in all, considering we always get the pass “for free,” I think the design team is doing a really good job. As for the balance team… well, everything we experience as “balance” is really just a constant tug-of-war between the loudest voices in the community and a system that will never truly work until we have a proper, functioning MMR.

As long as evenly matched players aren’t meeting consistently, real balance will always be impossible. And I don’t even know how much influence the balance team has over whether we ever get an improved MMR — one that doesn’t just rely on kills/escapes, etc. Everything is so much more complicated and interwoven than it looks from the outside.

I just don’t think we can blame each individual BHVR team so directly. It’s all just… yeah, noodle salad — not just in the code.

Sure, none of this excuses the fact that some things just don’t work when they absolutely should — especially when it comes to certain bugs and long-standing issues. But I think we also have to give BHVR some cautious credit: keeping an asymmetrical game alive, especially when it comes to balance, is a whole different beast.

This isn’t Tarkov, it’s not Hunt. It’s not any other game where everyone can start a match with basically the same loadout. DbD is asymmetrical, and… I’ve also been around during that early period where the game almost died. BHVR somehow kept it going.

So yipp, I’m not trying to praise the devs too much… but I do know there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes here than in your average PvP game where you’re just balancing mirrored sides.

Sou umm.. I’m also super disappointed, sad, tired… just exhausted with a lot of things. But at the same time, I’m willing to say: many of you at BHVR are still doing a good job overall. There are a lot of people on the team putting in the work.

And somewhere deep down, I still have hope… maybe even trust? That eventually things like all the bugs, glitches, and the MMR system will actually be tackled properly.
Because once that’s addressed, I still hold onto the hope that I might finally see some of the much-needed balance changes I’ve been waiting for.

Though I gotta say, sometimes as a long-time player you feel unheard, overlooked, and forgotten... the new players are the ones buying all the DLCs and skins, and that’s where the money comes from, huh? (No, I don’t wanna be unfair… but ehwwk :/ )
