From operation health to ignoring feedback and needing another operation health on top
What happened? Was all the talk about "Operation Health" just a marketing push to ride the Five Nights at Freddy's wave and pull in as many new players as possible? Because right now, the game is in awful state. Why are some patches delayed for polish, while this easily one of the worst updates we've had was pushed out as-is?
Clown is an unbalanced mess. He might be fun to play as, but he became completely braindead and clearly needs more adjustment.
Streetwise allows for infinite item charges due to a bug, yet it wasn't kill-switched because it's supposedly "not gamebreaking" enough. That's a very odd standard to apply selectively when there were less broken perks that were still kill-switched anyways.
Since the update dropped, I haven't gotten the "new" map once, which suggests the special queue talk was bogus. From what I've seen, the map looks rushed, more effort clearly went into the lobby than the map itself. The communication around it was a mess, some devs said it was never meant to be a map, others said it always was. Judging by the quality, it seems obvious it wasn't supposed to be one.
We all love Jim, but seriously, how was that even left in the game? No testing caught it?
There are also a lot of long-standing promises that still haven't been fulfilled. For instance, Houndmaster's Knotted Rope is still unusable. Old players might also remember that Survivors were promised new healing and totem-cleansing animations during the animation update, which we never got. This kind of stuff keeps piling up.
The new Survivor perks are either absurdly good or completely useless. Why keep adding new perks if most of them end up ignored? Wouldn't it make more sense to update the ones nobody uses instead of bloating the game with more unbalanced filler? Then again, it feels like that's being saved for mid-chapter patches just to stretch out content. Let's be real, 90% of the perk changes could've been done in one go if you really committed. Adjusting Desperate Measures from 14% to 20% shouldn't take literal years.
I genuinely love this game, but the current state is frustrating enough that I needed to get this off my chest.

Don't forget that they've also delayed the Swamp rework to 2026, are post-poning news on the Trickster rework as the devs imply it'll be used to sell the March 2026 chapter, had a content creator announce that two reworks were cancelled with no reason stated (Cenobite and Plague - announced through Hens' stream, with the actual reason being that they were delisting Cenobite) instead of doing it themselves and apologizing, and that Legion, Houndmaster, Dark Lord, and Knight each have full spreadsheets of bugs currently affecting them that get reported on a PATCH-LY BASIS.

Honestly, my friend, I think this is the worst DBD chapter release since A Binding Of Kin.
19 -
Operation Health is on life support, it seems.
19 -
I hope they have a plan to deal with all of this.
3 -
I do not think they do to be honest, if they did they would at least say something publically, yet there is nothing.
11 -
Is this the worst update in the game?
6 -
I knew when I saw they were messing with the engine alot of stuff would break.
9 -
I don't know why people were opting to think that Behavior would do a Rainbow Six Siege Operation Health, this is BHVR we're talking about here.
Edit: spelling errors

And you didn't even touch on the new mechanics which were supposed to help with balancing the game and removing toxic playstyles.
One was effectively erased because everyone complains, one is weighted down by an unnecessary system which punishes you for existing the wrong way, the offering changes made hatch sting even more, and so much more.
I really think that we need to space out the chapters for next year FAR apart so there is enough time to fix stuff between the new flood of bugs.

Dead Game Walking

It's not "bricking consoles" bad but this is probably top 5.

I'm not gonna pretend that what I'm about to say is smart but for the betterment of the game I honestly think they should start work on a new build. I'm no programmer but it looks like this game was already cobbled together with bits of string and tape and its just getting worse and worse. I wouldn't be surprised if the game was running off an irl hex totem in their offices rn.
A sequel/rework of the game is probably the best they can do right now. Dead by Daylight Bedrock Edition if you will. Problem is that it'll cost the studio everything if they don't get it right. Quite the risk.

- The problem with survivor perks is that as soon as DEVS does something useful (Conviction), everyone cries foul. (Last Stand is simply bugged, so I wouldn't even consider it. Once fixed, it will be one of the dozens of useless perks). Working this way must be just awful. If we complain about EVERYTHING, we will only get mediocre perks. Devs make mistakes, but the community is never satisfied either. when DEVS created "duty of care", there was literally a revolt... today literally nobody uses this perk

I’m saying. I hate working in tech because you can’t upgrade anything without things breaking all over the place. I deep sigh every time something new comes out.

Top 3 is say
3 -
These complaints don't matter cus 60k+ people are still playing the game daily.
1 -
Yeah, It shouldn't be a completely separated thing like bedrock and java but yeah. A revamp/remaster/redo is probably a good idea. I doubt they can make a sequel at this point because they'll have to renegotiate all the licenses which will likely mean Cenobite is cooked and burned if that ever happens. All that matters is that progress is retained and to the player, the difference is not massively apparent.
It should just be a major update to the game tho, like what operation health should've been.
3 -
And if this becomes a repeated pattern 60k+ people will start to get sick of it and leave.

Was all the talk about "Operation Health" just a marketing push to ride the Five Nights at Freddy's wave and pull in as many new players as possible?I really feel that this is something the community talked themselves into was happening. BHVR never wanted to do an operation health, they called it quality of life initiative, which was actually meant to add a bunch of new stuff.
We all love Jim, but seriously, how was that even left in the game? No testing caught it?This makes me a lot more mad than it seems to it does others.
The fact that there is just a random object in the loading screen is a marker of the overall quality of the release. They seem to be trying to turn it into a win/distraction via cute names when it makes them look shockingly inept.
If things were going great and there was a random beam we were naming I could see it, but now isn't the time for that.
Why keep adding new perks if most of them end up ignored?Unfortunately I think this is just baked into the game that we get new perks every few months.
Adjusting Desperate Measures from 14% to 20% shouldn't take literal years.I think this partially intentional. Slow walking changes like this keeps things 'fresh' and allows them a lot of low hanging fruit to throw into releases.

What about killers? People should shut down their mouths and happily play with ghoul/clown?
Or that’s ”different”?
That's sad that someone trying to embarrass majority by not liking something in this game.
-3 -
if the current dead hard perk did not exist and came out next update, there would be so many complaints that it would not make it live. And again I’m not talking about the old version. I’m talking about the current one
4 -
yeah seems like after the fnaf chapter, the devs reverted back to their old habits.
1 -
ngl streetwise even with the bug isn’t worth bringing. It wastes far too much time. I do get the frustration though.
-2 -
so, wasting 20-30 seconds to permanently increase your gen speed by 50%+ is "not worth bringing"?
2 -
it doesnt, but even if it did its worth killswitching because its an exploit to garner an unfair one sided advantage that cant be reasonably stopped unless you win the match, and the burden of dealing with an exploit should not be forced onto the player base to deal with unintended game complications resulting in a more difficult match because the developers refuse to use the feature the specifically designed to turn off not functioning mechanics and turn it off. not every player faced nemesis months ago and picking pwyf takes time to stack, got killswitched. baermar was playable but had a cosmetic that made him silent, the cosmetic was killswitched for this, his anniversary skin has the same no audio bug and is not killswitched. skull merchant had an add on that gave her infinite pallet break and vaulting speed but required placing multiple drones first, despite the need for set up this got killswitched due to survivors not being able to play against it in chases feasibly. a player with plunderers/a key from lobby and scavenger + ace in the hole doesnt gift a perfect toolbox, but it is one that can be permanently buffed all match, passed to other survivors, and is impossible to regress by the killer. this exploit isnt in literally every match, yes, but it is severe enough that people shouldnt be getting matched to it at all. thats what the killswitch is supposed to be for

This is very true and it’s really the main reason that BHVR continues to have this dismissive attitude towards player feedback. And it all boils down to lack of competition. Most people will continue playing this game no matter how broken it is and no matter how poorly BHVR treats the player base because there’s no viable alternative for this kind of game. It’s unfortunate, but it’s reality.
3 -
excuse me...what? my fellow seeker of pleasure was cancelled on a Hens stream and I missed that?
ah geez.

They did the thing! Probably a bit too late for that since all the controversy… but yay progress!
2 -
better than them not address it at all and it being left in the game for a month or 2
You people think these guys are bad?? You didn’t go through what I did with TCM
2 -
that got very clear when fnaf got released in such a state and refused to killswitch springtrap when he got disgustingly oppresive on release due to his tp making him invisible and the axe (to this day) being bugged to not accurately show where hes aiming
but for some reason the outcry only then happened when survivors start to abuse a perk to win more games…strange how that worked out.2 -
but wait I was said they don’t kill switch survivors??
the people on Jund and Otz and others videos say they only care about survivors right??-1 -
I heard from a fogwhisperer that they have plans until 2028, but honestly, the way things are going, I'm quitting dbd this year. Perhaps the ones who stay will be the wave of new players who arrived with the last licenses. And I'm noticing because I've played with teammates and killers with very few hours on their user logs and whose skills reveal them in the match, which I don't understand. Why would the MMR put me with people like that if not to fill lobbies with what's available?
