RIP Fog Vials
So fog vials are being nerfed tomorrow and then nerfed again next week with a limited amount of charges now. Great job devs add a new fun item but immediately nerfing them a week later. Back to commodious toolbox w built to last I guess… Also great job on kill switching THREE survivor perks after saying you won't.( Make up your minds, and no I didn't use them anyways b4 y'all start, also don't remember perks like merciless storm or stbfl nemi killswited but wtv.) Was very excited to buy the new Lara skins but won't be doing so anymore. I sure a lot of other players agree w me.

Fog vials were the only thing making survivor gameplay bearable for me. If they're made useless then it's back to quitting until next 2v8.

i wish they would just keep the fog vials as they are now and just let them sit for at least a month and then if they are still “overtuned”, then adjust them in 9.2.0 or one of the 9.2 bug fix patches. they’ve only been out for 1 week and it seems way too early to make balance changes to them.

But don’t you know? It doesn’t matter how terrible the experience is for survivors. It only matters if the killer is mildly inconvenienced. Otherwise, the clown would be getting a nerf for being overturned. All you have to do is look at the fact that there’s a huge spike in people playing the clown. Why? Because it requires nothing. 130%+ movement speed for the whole game… but fog vials are the problem 🙄

Ditto. The next time I join a Survivor queue will be to wait in line to play 2 V 8 Killer.
I'm glad I still enjoy the Killer role, because this is the last straw for playing regular Survivor games for me. I guess I should have expected this, but the last two weeks of fun Survivor game play has reminded me how much I don't enjoy the role when there's nothing to counter all the moments when playing Survivor really isn't all that fun at all.

Who is asking for this other than a few killer mains on twitter? This was not necessary at all. I haven't even been seeing many fog vials in the streams I have watched since the update. You're just creating another dead item that nobody is ever going to use. It's just back to medkits on everyone. It's like the devs want people to just bring the same things every single match.
26 -
So true same with perks. There wasn’t one new meta perk since MFT.
-2 -
It was just annoying and stupid. I literally stopped playing the game because of this item + don't forget that they reworked the clown bottles and deep wound because it was blocking your vision, it would be hypocrisy to remove this for survivors but add it for killers
-11 -
so true, why so fast? catering toward killer mains again

Honestly I don't really understand why they nerfed the strength and uses at the same time.
The main problem of them at the moment is that it gets really old to play against them when 3-4 people have it - it's not even that it does much at lot of the time, you're actually able to follow them perfectly most of the time. I feel like that the ability to spam that so often and at the same time ineffectiveness makes it more of a tool to simply be annoying than anything usefull - that's why I think they should just up the strength and limit the uses so you can actually use them to escape the chase but only a few times.
Now I know that they will be more effective as soon as people learn how to play with them actually, but like they are now and with how people are playing them they are pretty useless and more annoying than anything.
11 -
i think fog vials definitely should maintain a strong effect but they should be limited use per item.
unfortunately i feel like they'll nerf them until their usefulness is similar to the map, or key. just another niche item that you're not going to seriously use over a medkit or a toolbox.
that seems to be the direction they've taken most survivor perks. very few things stand or are really game-changing like maybe they once were. so it'll be more blandness.
7 -
If all of the intended nerfs go through, I have two buffs that I think would be nice:
Revert the cloud size back to 8 meters.
Revert the iri add-on back to the 10% version at least.
3 -
Definitely an over correction to my mind. Fog vials being strong to my mind isn't the issue... them being unlimited on a relatively short cooldown is the issue.
There's no point having them if they are weak, so have them strong, but... it shouldn't be a tool available to ditch tile and hold W into Narnia EVERY chase.
Limiting it to 2, maybe 3 uses with add-ons would have been plenty of a nerf with their current state, you could then see how that plays out and see if further nerfs are needed (or buffs).
8 -
From the second I heard about the existance of Fog Vials, everybody I knew said it was a bad Idea to have them be inifnite, I think them having charges is a good idea… because every item in the game has a limited time of use… and the perks needed to be kill switched.
4 -
The whole thing is really disheartening. I love them even though they've done me minimal good, but since they'll now likely do me zero good, I might not even bother trying the redo. I'm currently using up the ones I've gotten and I'll probably just go back to the toolbox after that. Hope all the killers who cried about them are excited for my sweaty genrush build to make a comeback instead of goofy meme perks.
6 -
What does that have to do with perks, no perks are being nerfed in the patch only fixed. They were never meant to be the way they were. Also in my opinion no perks on either side should ever be as meta as MFT was. Usually whenever there is a meta like that on either side the other side is miserable like MFT or CoB eruption.
-1 -
The only new and exciting thing to spice up survivor gameplay in years and it's literally getting nerfed into a weak meme within a week. Amazing.
17 -
I’m up to follow such mindset. The problem they makes overbuffed or annoying thing, and later nerfing to the ground. Making stuff limited is enough already
0 -
As others have said, it's now overcorrected into what will essentially be another dead item in the web. I guess we have more room for it now with the reworks?
12 -
Other than Dramaturgy and Finesse you mean?
-4 -
Fact: People been cmplaining about Ghoul for months and he got minor nerfs to part of kit that wasn't the problematic part. One week of killers been tasting how fun is Kaneki fun to go against and nerf is happening. Let's just hope that their "is on our radar" will do something.
7 -
Still too early to tell but I had vials in every one of my six killer games yesterday. Today, I played seven games and only saw vials in two games. Just toolboxes and medkits with a few flashlights in there. Oh, and zero maps or keys today, despite their recent changes.
4 -
Nerf fog viles but Clown and Ghoul are fine?! Yeh k.
17 -
It's ridiculous tbh.
Fog vials were not a problem. I barely got any value out of them and I was not losing the survivior using them either.BHVR literally added the item and nerfed it enough to be unusable because some people didn't like something that's new.
I believe that people didn't have enough time or chance to play against it, learn to play against it and you guys still took their feedback.
Meanwhile we give a lot of negative feedback on Ghoul for a long time, since his release and not much really happened.
Same with clown, people hate buffed clown, give a lot of negative feedback.10 -
I'm more surprised that players thought it would be any different this time. There's been a longtime saying in this community, that the devs are afraid to give survs anything strong and it proves to be true time and time again. This is just yet another example.
9 -
Yeah this is why I haven't bought either TWD survivor or the Dracula fella - fog vials were inevitably going to get nerfed and it really doesn't feel worthwhile owning them for their perks if I have to pay real money for them.
3 -
Devs could tie Fog Vial recharging to generator progress, like flashbang or other ''reusable'' perk effects. That way it would remain rather generous defensive tool that still requires some effort to restock.
-5 -
Literally just created an account to post about this. Putting the first new survivor item into the game in 9 years to then almost immediately hard nerfi it (especially at a time when survivor morale-especially solo queue morale) is at an all time low is certainly…a choice. Also, they “retired” a bunch of powerful key & map add-ons with the same patch they added the new item.
But Ghoul gets to stay the way they are and so does Clown? Yet still no Skull Merchant buffs since her rework is obviously not top priority right now (or anytime this year, most likely)?
Really???
Not even complaining about the killswitched perks that were being exploited, but urm….no killswitch for Pig ? Due the “no chase” bug she can literally tunnel you until the bear trap timer runs out…guaranteeing a kill-zero counterplay. I’m glad Pig finally got a buff, but I don’t think THAT was the buff the devs were intending on implementing….
16 -
They should have limeted them but make the fog stronger for that, they don't do much at the moment anyways except being slightly annoying - that way they would actually do something and wouldn't be so annoying.
To the pig bug: I can also run after you backwards, it does exactly the same, it's also not to hard to follow scratchmarks backwards xD
2 -
You have to use Iri shards to unlock original killers or REAL MONEY for the licensed ones.
When they sell enough DLC they gut killers, but Fog Vials being free… why wait more than a week?-3 -
Meanwhile Shoulder The Burden
-7 -
Im fine with the item having limited uses. The effect it gives is pretty strong and shouldn't be unlimited like that. Its a really useful anti tunnel tool (or just when you want to delay being found,) but using it every 55-70 seconds is not fair when its infinite.
As for the effects nerf, that doesn't need to be changed, that includes the visceral add on. Fog viles opacity isn't what makes them annoying tbh, its the fact that they hide scratch marks, blood, auras AND grunts of pain in them. You can completely lose a survivor because of the item, thats a really strong effect that needs to be limited. But its opacity and audio are fine. No touchy
-3 -
Same thing for me.
-2 -
I've hardly seen vials at all in my killer games this whole time. Maybe one would make an appearance every five games. And then it would be used poorly and do nothing for the team. So yeah, I expect to see basically none now and I already have it in my head to not equip them myself. Not sure why they even bothered to make them if they weren't going to have them anytime to find their place.
7 -
The lack of vials in matches may also be related to the fact that you can't find the damn things in the Bloodweb.
The Visceral add-on pops out pretty frequently, but are useless if I don't have any vials to use them.0 -
Yeah my p100 was getting plenty of add-ons but the vials were only showing up every one every 5-10 levels. I dumped a lot of bloodpoints into acquiring the handful I got. I'm mostly out now so I guess I don't have to think about it anymore, and I've got lots of toolboxes and medkits to use instead.

The best part is that the changes don't even address the accessibility issues, other than slightly reducing the impact. So now its an item that will end up much worse vs the majority of players, while still causing major issues for the people it affects. If they use accessibility as an excuse for the change, it is 100% trying to shift blame. They already opened pandora's box, its too late to take that type of approach. All they can do at this point is provide counter options or allow more compensatory potential by limiting the amount of tracking elements it affects.
2 -
Meta? lmao
I think I have seen literally 2 or 3 people using it since the introduction of this perk
4 -
I find it funny when something gets nerf on the survivor side or either side it always:
It doesn’t matter how terrible the experience is for survivors. It only matters if the killer is mildly inconvenienced( put another word like mildly inconvenienced
then something gets nerfed on killers side or survivor get new broken toy not getting nerfed then it:
It doesn’t matter how terrible the experience is for Killer. It only matters if the survivors is mildly inconvenienced.
so which is it? really now…..
-5 -
its more popular with swf, i had a group that ran it, actually made me despise the perk that trial, i wonder if the UI bug still exists
-1 -
at this point killer mains are okay with any new overpowered mechanic a killer provides but if a SURVIVOR gets a slight advantage to their kit its a huge problem and demands a nerf. they obviously listen due to mainstream streamers complaining about how the fog viles are overpowered when honestly its not if you are close enough you can still track survivors without depending on scratch marks and noise. The devs need to stop holding the killers main hands— when survivor barely get anything new when it comes to items and new mechanics. if anything they should adapt and conquer.
5 -
Someone hasnt hit high mmr yet
Like someone else said already, shoulder is very common in swfs. Something you'll see alot of when your KR is 75%+

No, not really

Yeah, I was waiting on the Lara skins. But I won’t be buying them, or anything else from them for that matter. Several of my friends are of the same mindset. Not giving money to people that don’t value their customers. None of us are touching survivor at all. Some of us won’t play whatsoever. I’m doing another BG3 play through.
4 -
Exactly. I haven't spent money in nearly a year. Letting the Sable Mains support the game.
2 -
Lots of great mods available for a new playthrough!
2 -
It has a low pickrate because you only see it in coordinated groups, typically in high mmr only. 4 man swfs making up only a small amount of survivor matches, so YOU will likely never see the perk in action. I see it almost daily if i play a few matches of killer.
-5 -
No, you only see if you tunnel. People dont use shoulder at first hook, thats all
3 -
That has absolutely nothing to do with what i just said. Obviously you don't use ut on first hook and you use it on death hook, tunneled survivors. Why are you explaining ti me how the perk works when I'm talking about something completely different? Can you not accept that your wrong?
-5 -
No, no, no. We’re not bending false narratives. Fog vials do not disorient the visuals on your screen. They strictly add a fog to the area.
Clown bottles caused motion sickness because of the visual effects made to your screen, not because of the fog sitting on the ground.
Try again, please.
