How sad is it that Damage Control made Behaviour killswitch problematic and broken perks!
At this point, with how Behaviour manages and develops Dead by Daylight, it feels like we, the community, are the ones constantly getting kill-switched. Their recent refusal to killswitch three blatantly problematic perks, despite widespread backlash, proves once again that the developers either don’t play their own game or simply don’t listen to those who do. If they truly didn’t see any reason to act until after the community exploded, then what exactly are they watching? The response they gave may have been well-written, but it reeks of PR damage control, not genuine concern. And the sad part is, we've seen this happen before. Over and over.
Nothing will change. As long as they keep pushing updates on schedule, cashing in cosmetics, and brushing off feedback, this cycle will continue. Broken content, delayed fixes, and an increasingly fractured player base.
Killswitches were meant to preserve fairness and fun while issues get addressed. But lately, it seems Behaviour only pulls that trigger when it benefits their image, not the health of the game. Meanwhile, players suffer through lopsided matches, unfair advantages, and game-breaking perk stacking that destroys the balance and enjoyment.
The irony? The longer they refuse to acknowledge how disruptive these perks are, the more it does become gamebreaking, not just mechanically, but in terms of player trust. If that’s not enough to warrant temporary removal, then what is? It’s not about whether a perk crashes the game, it’s about whether it breaks the experience. And right now, it feels like the only thing getting killswitched… is us.

There were more people outraged than there were people abusing it.

Exactly, and that says everything you need to know about the situation. When the majority of the community is outraged, and only a minority is abusing the perks, it’s not just a gameplay issue, it’s a sign that the devs are completely disconnected from their player base.
If more people are upset about the integrity of the game than there are people trying to exploit it, that's the clearest signal Behaviour should’ve acted immediately. Waiting around and pretending it’s not “gamebreaking enough” just alienates the core community even further.
Ignoring the majority because of the actions of a few isn’t just poor balancing, it’s bad game management.

I mean, they straight up did what we asked, and they're going to refine the kill switch criteria to use it more often when there's an exploit regarding the perks, and not just when they're "entirely" gamebreaking, whatever the definition for that was.
Obviously we won't be able to see what that'll look like until another perk exploit rolls around, but I think this is a win in general. When another Streetwise situation happens then it seems like they're going to be far more proactive in using the killswitch.
And right now, it feels like the only thing getting killswitched… is us.
That's corny asf man I can't lie.

They eventually did what the community asked, which is good, but let’s not pretend this wasn’t reactionary. It took mass outrage and constant pushback before they even acknowledged the issue. Still, if they’re updating the killswitch criteria to cover perk exploits more proactively, then that’s a step in the right direction. Obviously, we won’t know how serious they are until the next situation happens. But if the days of waiting for something to be “entirely gamebreaking”, whatever that vague standard meant—are over, then yeah, I’ll count that as a win for now. As for the future? Let’s hope it doesn’t take another Streetwise-type mess to get action. We’ll be watching.

Funny thing is, I had a streamer try to show their audience the Streetwise exploit. But I had to laugh when I watched their VOD back, since they were unable to find a single chest and had wasted so much time by looking around for one.
I wouldn't have reported them for exploits even if it was actionable, because I was able to use the bugged Fire Up to increase my Legion's frenzy window vault speed for MONTHS before they finally fixed it (still use the perk a lot btw, because I like it). You can't tell if someone is using a perk because they like it or because of a lesser known exploit. I would argue this wouldn't have been such a huge problem if multiple content creators hadn't amplified and publicised it so much (it was only after this that I saw the perk being used a lot).
At the end of the day, it's on BHVR to catch stuff like this by doing their own internal bug hunting. But they don't. Because that's our job. We're the game's bug testers. That's the bigger issue for me. Things like this shouldn't be making it to the live servers.

So…? What is your point?

My only issue is: Why does it have to be us. Why do they not see the issues themselves. After so many years, you would think they get tired of their reputation. Situations like these fully support this reputation though.
Base line: pls BHVR. Be better. Stuff like this hurts your damaged reputation even more. We are the players. Not developers. We are here to play your game. Not to fix it for you.

They have a history of this. I'll never forget the colour blind situation 🤣
