Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Gamma settings. Is Nightfall useless now?

With the addition of the gamma settings, I can only assume majority of players have it on the brightest setting (I do too). I was thinking about playing some Dredge until I recently played against one and when Nightfall activated I really had very little trouble navigating. Is he even worth it now?

I’ve never touched my gamma because I prefer the game looking better and more eerie over gaining a very small advantage match-to-match.

Nightfall seems pretty unaffected. You still cant see past a certain distance, so it really didn't change anything

I couldn't see a damn thing even with the gamma turned up. God I hate Dredge.

I rather look at good looking game than stare at oversaturated screen that looks mostly grey.

Teleporting and coming out of lockers at Mach 3 is "useless", yes…

I want the game as it should look.

Also they reduce the visibility distance during nightfall. So i think it doesn´t change much only that it is not black but grey.

Does anyone actually enjoy the game looking white-washed…? 😅 Or is it because people care that much about any form of advantage possible?

I don't know. For me, it's still majorly unaffected. Gamma just raises the mids and blacks, making them more gray and washed out. Fortunately, my tv had good black balance levels so it doesn't make them washed out and just the mids are affected. When Nightfall gets activated, I can see better close up but everything at a short distance is still too dark to see. Plus, not raising the highlights doesn't change the brightness of the killer making them easier to see so it's a good balance, allowing it to still be challenging. I just no longer run into small objects up close since I can see those more clearly.

I find it so funny all the posts saying "well I dont use it so its ok" bro anyone with a brain will just change the gamma when they see locks on lockers at the start of the match, like just because some people don't use an advantage it doesnt mean it is not on the game.

Back to the point, its still useful for the teleport speed, however given that locker spawns are bad, locks exist and even if the locker is not locked you have enough time to get to a pallet, dredge is still cheeks, a little bit more than before but he has never been good against players who have object permanence.

nightfall puts a hard cutoff on how far you can see, and the main advantage of nightfall for anyone that isn’t a beginner was never the lack of sight anyway. The gamma setting helps even the playing field so people playing with sun shining on their tv or monitor out the window can actually see something on the screen.
