Rant about 2v8, before the new August launch (Could really use Legion main's critique)
This is mostly a collection of unfiltered opinions aimed at trying to argue for balance changes to the 2v8 mode, before the august return of 2v8 mode.
I play about 60% killer, 40% survivor, and I like the 2v8 mode, a lot.
I do think that most killers don't have enough power to be a threat, which honestly makes a lot of survivor matches boring, because you don't do anything but generators all game. That doesn't mean you should buff all the killers though, especially since:
- I main killer, don't trust me.
- I saw more comeback games from killers who were losing than survivors who were losing.
- Oni and Legion were a nightmare to play against.
To solve the oni problem, I suggest reworking the power to get more blood fury from basic attacks, even on injured survivors, and heavily reduce the amount of and the spawn rate of blood orbs. This way he has to get his power more on his own then from teammates.
Legion, I would suggest having a serious rework when in 2v8 mode. My thought process for this rework is to make him more 1v1 chase oriented. DO NOT implement this on it's own. This need serious critique from an actual Legion main. Here it is:
- Nerfs: Reduce FF duration to 6 seconds, 12 second cooldown. Terror radius is set to 32 meters when in Frenzy instead of the boosted size.
- Buffs: Pallet Vault and Vault speed in FF are increased by 0.2 seconds. Hitting a survivor with feral slash creates a 4 second window where you gain three buffs. Vaulting a pallet will break it, Vaulting a window will block it for 12 seconds, and exiting your power by any means other than a stun will result in a 1.6 second fatigue state (instead of the normal 2 seconds). Lastly, during the last 1 second of FF, you speed is increased by 10%, and you gain an additional 0.2 second vault speed.

I really doubt… when I played with a friend, most of my matches on killer won as win (more than 4 survivors were dead).
This mode is extremely casual and I rarely met extremely good survivors there

I'm not convinced a lot of players would ever accept Legion having a stronger 1V1 power. Their power allows them to get an easy first hit, so anything that would help them get an easier down with a follow up basic attack would likely just annoy Survivors. Besides, we've seen BHVR try to make a 1V1 Legion twice before with OG Chucky and The Ghoul and I think we all know how poorly recieved those Killers have been.
In 1V4, You kinda need to dedicate most of your loadout to chase perks and add-ons in order to have an OK but not great antiloop power (enfury / iri button with Julie's mixtape or the scratched ruler, for example). But this weakness can be ofset by the information, slowdown and mobility they get from their Frenzy hits. A pure 1v1 Legion would strip those core aspects of their power away and you're no longer really playing as Legion anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love chase Legion. Chase Legion is my favourite way to play, but it's maybe not their most effective playstyle.
So yeah, I just don't see this being a popular approach with either Legion enjoyers or Legion haters.
All that said, I never felt there was a serious problem with the way Legion were implemented into 2V8. And I'm worried the nerfs will make them the worst support role Killer in the mode besides slinger. Plus, I'm also probably a bit biased in favour of them because they're my Killer, so take all that into account.
