Chapter Idea - Shattered Trust
Licensed Killer: The Thing
(From John Carpenter’s The Thing, 1982)
New Map: Outpost 31, Antarctica
Snow-covered research base with dimly lit labs, with tunnels/hallways connecting larger rooms, maybe snow spilling in from broken portions of the hallways or rooms to create an even more claustrophobic feel. Dead bodies throughout the Outpost. There would be a small outdoor section connecting to another section of the lab, but Survivors would have to search lockers to find warm clothing to use, or suffer from 5% Hindered for 30 seconds due to the intense blizzard and cold.
Power: “Assimilation”
The Thing consumes and mimics to spread its terror.
- Special Ability – Imitate
- The Thing can mimic the appearance of a Survivor it has struck once.
- While disguised:
- No Terror Radius.
- Survivors see you as that chosen Survivor’s character model.
- Performing a basic attack immediately breaks disguise.
- Special Ability 2 – Flesh Surge
- Hold the power button to unleash a horrific mutation (extra arm, spider legs, or whipping tendrils).
- Flesh Surge is a ranged strike (8 meters) that injures or downs.
- Breaks disguise if one is active.
- Special Mechanic – Infection
- Each time The Thing injures a Survivor, that Survivor becomes Infected.
- After 90 seconds, if untreated at a “Fire Barrel” cleansing station (unique map interactable), the Survivor suffers:
- Hindered (-8% speed)
- Loud, wet coughing noises that reveal location
- Bright heat signature aura visible to the Killer within 12 meters
Perks
- Paranoia
- Survivors within your Terror Radius intermittently see each other’s auras as Hostile (red).
- Lasts 2/3/4 seconds every 30 seconds.
- You’re One of Them
- When hooking a Survivor, another random Survivor becomes Oblivious for 20/25/30 seconds.
- Rapid Assimilation
- Breaking a pallet or generator grants you 5/6/7% haste for 4 seconds.
Appearance & Aesthetic
- Default form: grotesque, sinewy humanoid shape with shifting tendrils and half-formed faces stretching from its body.
- Disguise form: perfect copy of a Survivor, but with a subtle twitch or distortion if you look closely.
- Audio design: unnatural, wet bone-crunches when moving, and eerie silence when in disguise.
- Terror Radius: deep rumbling heartbeat mixed with distant, distorted screaming.
Legendary Cosmetics:
(Full-body transformations that drastically change the model)
1. Kennel Horror
Based on the kennel scene.
Body hunched with canine limbs jutting out, a “flowering head” with snapping teeth petals, and writhing dog legs twitching from its back.
Growls mix with distorted human screams in its idle animation.
2. Spider-Head
A grotesque fusion: humanoid torso with long spider legs sprouting from the back.
A head that constantly shifts between human and spider-like mandibles.
Movement animations have a creepy scuttling overlay.
3. Blair-Thing
Modeled after Dr. Blair’s final transformation in the finale.
Upper body swollen with jagged teeth maws, arms warped into massive claws.
Idol animation: body shudders as a human hand claws from inside, then sinks back.
Rare Cosmetics:
(Keep the core humanoid silhouette but change textures & mutations)
1. Frozen Assimilation
Covered in frost and icicles, with its flesh frozen mid-mutation.
Movements leave faint ice shards falling behind.
2. Burnt Remains
Charred skin and blackened bones glowing faintly red, like it’s been torched by the flamethrower but won’t die.
Occasional embers float from its body.
3. Parasitic Bloom
Skin stretched into grotesque, flower-like openings revealing snapping jaws inside.
Arms pulsate with vein-like tendrils that glow faintly in the dark.
Weapon Ideas (for its M1 claw/tendril strike)
Bone Lance – sharpened, splintering rib jutting forward.
Spinal Whip – a long, barbed tendril tipped with vertebrae.
Clawed Appendage – jagged talons that constantly shift shape with every swing.

Survivor Perks:
Perk 1: Trust No One
When within 8/10/12 meters of another Survivor, you see the Killer’s aura for 2 seconds if they are looking in your direction.
This effect has a cooldown of 30 seconds
Perk 2: Survival Instinct
After being unhooked or unhooking yourself, gain 10% Haste for 5/6/7 seconds.
While Haste is active, scratch marks are suppressed.
Perk 3: Burn It All
After cleansing or blessing a totem, activate this perk for 12/14/16 seconds.
While active:
Generators within 12 meters of you are revealed to all Survivors.
If the Killer damages one of these generators, their aura is revealed to you for 4 seconds.
Appearance:
Default: Heavy parka, snow goggles, messy hair, and his iconic flamethrower slung across his back (cosmetic only).
Legendary Cosmetics could include:
Arctic Pilot: (flight jacket, aviator glasses, without parka).
Frozen Survivor: (frostbitten face, heavy icicles on clothes).
Final Stand: (torn, blood-stained parka with snow-covered beard)
