What is even the compensation procedure?

With 5 million bloodpoints being offered for a few hours of 2v8 being down I have to ask... thank you but why?

2v8 attracts a different crowd than fans of the core game. It's simple but true. The chaos of 8 survivors means far less pressure on the individual to perform. The open availability of the class system means there is no character progression. Since all classes are available there is no need to play for bloodpoints as all features are pre-unlocked. Even players who suffer the famous killer anxiety are relieved to finally be able to play with a friend and have a partner to rely on.

This massive spike in players is of course directly influenced by the popularity of the mode due to the aforementioned reasons.

At least on the surface, it seems like the massive influx of queue overflow led to minor instability. Players reported almost immediately that simply queueing for crossplay off allowed for instant queues. And despite the 5x bp not being available with incentives disabled, this did not deter players from playing. Again, because players play 2v8 for 2v8. Bloodpoint incentives do not interest players who play just for the game mode as the currency is useless in terms of the event due to lack of progression.

Lastly, I'd unfortunately like to remind everyone that the anniversary was down for nearly 3 weeks on Xbox. While the game had its own set of issues, there was a separate subscription based error preventing Xbox players from playing any online game. And despite not being able to play for up to 20 days, only 2 million bloodpoints compensation was offered?

Even though the year before had the update delayed by over 24 hours and 3 million bloodpoints were offered.

At the end of the day this is yet another issue of communication, as there is clearly no set standard of compensation per error or platform.

I was gonna say, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a compounding compensatory bonus.

I mean, while I don't defend the myriad of issues that came out with TWD, I do have to admit, that chapter has had A LOT of changes, with several fundamental mechanics overhauled... and while people might not see it as a big deal, the 2vs8 update also came with a pretty major feature update as well.

People often complain, not just at BHVR, but all across gaming that developers are too slow to act on things and make changes, however this is the logical consequence of trying to change a lot of things quickly.

While I do agree things should be properly play tested before release, there is a question, do you want a lot of changes and new features quickly but with a lot of bugs making it through? Or do you want changes and features to be slow to come oit and more stable? Cause you can't realistically have both.
