Since we're stuck with a "Divine Killer" now
It would be cool if that killer was the god that The Plague worshipped, or a rival god. The story could be something like it tried to punish the world through disease in her time due to not receiving enough worship, but failed, and now has returned demanding worship again. Problem is, nobody alive understands this being's language, and therefore do not understand what it wants, and so it decides to destroy the world for its refusal to worship, maybe through the same disease that destroyed The Plague's community. It would explain why "the collapse" happened on that world. Would also be neat if the survivor was brought into the Entity's realm because in his or her attempt to survive the collapse, he or she found the remains of The Plague and her flock and was brought into the realm in the same way she was. IDK, could be a neat way to link some story elements together. Plus, how cool would it be to play as The Plague and her god in 2v8?

If anything no plegue in 2v8 we can see what can legion do plague injures slower with infection but becoming healty is punished with red puke for her which is strong so imagining her with oni is probably one of best maybe best slugging combination there is with their snowball potencial thats just facts.

i imagine in lore the killer will be a Lucifer like figure fallen from grace most likely manipulated by the Entity like so many others before them

It would also be cool if they took a page from the Orcs from warhammer and the deity be created from sheer belief alone

The killer/power are probably already set in stone.
They'll just tweak the lore/power description to fit whatever 'wins.'

Every god in the warp in 40k are born from sheer belief alone thats how they come to be in the first place. If nobody believed that they exist they would not.
and isn't Dredge already an entity that was willed to existence by the people in the Fold. Pyramid Head also is manifestation of James Sunderland's guilt and desire for punishment. So there is already characters that are created by minds of people.
